Thom Browne SS13 MenswearThe dollops of drama in the form of silver painted faces of the models, shimmery silver shoes and dramatic headwear in the Spring Summer 2013 menswear showcasing of Thom Browne definitely worked wonders for the designer to garner the limelight who otherwise had a monotonous collection on the offer.

The models walking in metallic sling-ups appeared wearing plaid suits in different lengths, patterns and colors. The ubiquitous checks could be seen everywhere with layers ample. Later, the mix of prints on separate pieces like half sleeved long jackets, waistcoats, shorts, shirts and ties came as a respite.

Dress Made from Human HairIn the weird world of fashion where bizarreness is worshipped, it’s all about creating something new.

Making it the mantra of her fashion debut, hair stylist Jodie Breeds has created a dress made entirely from human hair. The eco-friendly dress worn by one of the finalists of Miss England recently is made from recycled hair donated by the clients of Jodie’s salon and about 10 rows of hair extension.

The idea of this unique dress struck Jodie while thinking to represent her hair salon differently in Miss England contest.

Exploring the shades of Italian Summers while drawing inspiration from the soothing Mediterranean summer breeze, amidst blossoming gardens and artistic laurels of Italy, Designer Tanya Rossi unveils her Spring Summer 2012 collection.

The collection puts forth a variety of designs reflecting the belpaese Italy, one of the greatest repositories of sensorial pleasures in design aesthetics. The sinfully femme sterling silver jewellery draws a contrast between the fast pace of city life and the calmness of the countryside during the most wonderful time of the year; spring and summer.

The Spring Summer 2012 collection is predominantly about white cubic zircons artistically put together in floral and geometric patterns. Adding to the collection repertoire are Corals in Blue, pink and green along with white and grey pearls put together in unique patterns to capture the true feeling of summer elegance and charms.

Its Armani belting out the blues that ruled the spirit of the latest fall 2012 haute couture offering by the brand.

Amidst loads of drama that came alive in the form of dramatic eye make, berets and beaded veils, Armani showcased a range of jackets paired with velvet pants, along with embellished gowns and dresses. The wide legged black pants and leg baring skirts were well teamed up with structured jackets with peaked shoulders and tops in hues of blue and lilac.

The figure forming dresses with varying necklines, waistlines and backlines were mostly in black and blue with subtle embellishment. The color blocking and peplum effect could also be seen during this monochromatic collection by Armani.

The mix of street and high fashion, Givenchy’s fall 2012 couture comes as an intricately crafted collection exuding luxury and refinement.

The assortment of dresses, jumpsuit and jackets featured varying necklines, backlines and sleeves with ample handwork. The black jumpsuit with fringes falling from the shoulders and embroidered corset, floor touching fringed dress, beaded jacket with furred hems, fit-and-flare brown dress with pleated skirt and a gown with furred bustier are few of the highlights of the collection in muted hues.

Chanel’s latest couture offering brought to the fore the luxury redefined through vintage that is new, borrowing intensely from the past years.

The fluid yet structured pieces exuded subtle refinement and luxury in the form of tweeds, embroidered tulle, gossamer ruffles, satin and velvet. The collection featured double-breastedsuits, knit dresses, nubby suits and satin gowns. The boxy shaped nubby suits with color blocking and detailing on hems and neckline straddled between 40s and modern times. The color palette of the collection ranged from black, grey, white and silver to pink.

The times when men preferred to stay in the safest harbors of black and grey suits and loved that stereotypical dapper look seem like have gone by long ago. If recently concluded men’s fashion week in Milan and Paris is anything to go by, then Spring Summer 2013 is all about bright colors, brighter metallic shimmer and mélange of prints with a dash of sporty vibe.

Tweaked Silhouettes
As shelf life of most of the trends in fashion is not more than six months so silhouettes are bound to change. The cloying tapered pants are lesstrendy as function has taken over the form to offer relaxed wide at thighs pleated pants. Even seamless t-shirts with big sleeves, longer jackets, high waists and cropped tops are the new pieces on the block. The way like designer Yuji Yamamoto paired harems with checked blazer and Lanvin took the waistline up to ribs indicates that the shift is happening.

Blast of Colors and Prints
Apart from the tweaked silhouettes, the latest trends in menswear vouch for balancing the anima and animus with a blast of colors and prints men for centuries have shunned. The yellow seems like the new ‘it’ color and prints, be it floral or Renaissance inspired are must-haves for every not-so-brawny fashionista who understands the language of colors and vibrancy. Marc Jacobs’s pink fedoras and shimmering blue oxfords go well with printed blazers and pants. Similarly, Valentino’s kind of pink leotard, Balmain’s jacket with tribal touch and Louis Vuitton’s patterned shirt are there to jazz up the menswear blues.

Metallic Shimmer
The metal like shimmer is very ubiquitous this season. From Burberry’s metallic foil trench coats and blousons to Lanvin’s shimmery suits and jackets, the trend is catching up fast with the fashion houses who believe that what crystals are to women, the metallic is to men. Even accessories in the form of metallic sandals, totes and shoes are there to lighten up the somber menswear.

Sporty Vibes
With London Olympics around the corner, sporty vibes are very much floating in the alleys of fashion. With every other designer romancing with sporty ease, the hormonal rush is maddening this season. Giving a glimpse of 80s designers like Prada, Alexander Wang, Valentino and Louis Vuitton have come up with the collections using crisp technical fibers, exuding the sporty feel.
