The sprawling pool of young talented designers in the country has few names which are inevitably noticeable. Unlike their predecessors, who burnt the midnight lamps with champagne to carve a niche, or say, to bring to the fore traditional Indian crafts and art, the young brigade is banking upon the power of social network, and inherited skills, definitely honed, to infuse the freshness in the scene with their unconventional designs.

The Modern Retrospective

AnikateSatnam, Lets Design Season 4 hunt is one of them, belting out some interesting designs, and his latest high summer pret line embodies the new visage of Indian fashion that is experimental and non-conformist. The 50s vintage architecture inspired collection celebrates the season with a delicious palette of  yogurt white, mint, marshmallow pink, chocolate brown, lagoona blue and mango yellow.

The Modern Retrospective

The Wave of ChangeFashion is a medium to express oneself with no restrains, and photographer Alessandra d’ Urso knows it quite well as he weaves a photo story for Spring Summer 2012 explicating non-conformism and androgyny yet classicism which fashion stands for.

The photographer captures the essence of the season through his unconventional approach seeking to push boundaries. The black and white images exuding 60s flavour with some grunge elements feature well accessorized men donning the outfits from SS 12 of designers like Jeroen Van Tuyl and Dries Van Noten.

The aesthetically shot pictures have half bald men wearing nail paint, earrings and metal necklaces, along with John Lennon replicas wearing shimmery suits, jackets and knitted pullovers, portraying eclectic menswear going from classy to grunge over the past decades.
