Face of Indian Luxury MarketThe ever growing luxury market in India is lapping up the eyeballs of the luxury giants across the world, and the unorganized sector is witnessing a change that is quite noticeable, but it’s centered in two metropolitans, Delhi and Mumbai.

Though the recent studies claim the tier-II cities as the emerging luxury market but the fact in the status quo is that the Delhi and Mumbai are the main hubs and influence the luxury scenario in the country. The report in a leading daily claims that Delhi constitutes 50% of India’s luxury market in sales, followed by Mumbai which stands at 30%.

The Indian luxury market at $ 4.8 billion is not a preferred choice when compared to China as Indian consumers go for traditional options rather than Western wear. Though the market in the country is extremely strong but complicated laws, duties and taxes procedure besides the diverse tastes deter the International luxury brands aiming to penetrate Indian market.

2+2=5The crisscrossing worlds of fashion and art collided of late when designer duo Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna hosted an art exhibition, titled 2+2=5, at Palette Art Gallery, New Delhi.

An innovative and exceptional concept, the exhibition examines the inner workings of an artist’s mind – moving from the definitive singular to the wider universe. Each artist has interpreted this curated effort in his or her signature manner. The sum of all these works creates an exhibition.

The show featuring more than 20 artistes had the likes of ChintanUpadhyay whose work consisted of many small elements that layer together to give a sense of the lapse between the contemporary and the traditional, exploring the tenuous relationship between space and desires at an aesthetic level.

On the other hand, artist Gigi Scaria’s work was an attempt to chronicle our movement away from different knowledge systems that we have compiled and relied on over centuries towards that of a new order of knowledge, one that is lightweight and wireless.

The event witnessed the illustrious names from art and fashion world appreciating the artworks. The attendees included Sunil Sethi, Gaurav Gupta, Manav Gangwani, Vikram Baidyanath, AkhilNath, IndraniDasgupta, SonalikaSahay, Manu Parekh, Tanisha Mohan, Kalyani Chawla, Manu Parekh and Rahul Dev amongst others.
