The hub of high-end luxury products, DLF Emporio announces its first edition of exclusive design awards to honor young and emerging talent in the field of fashion design.
The awards are woven around a central theme of exclusive and desirable creations giving freedom to the students from all colleges of national and international fame to explore creativity and innovation in the field of accessory and product design.
A jury of prominent designers, artists and celebrities such as Rohit Bal, PriyaSachdev, Bandana Tiwari, Mohit Gujral and Sunil Sethi will shortlist the best entries that would be showcased at DLF Emporio atrium at anexhibit. The winner will due acknowledgement and an internship with a prominent Indian designer, along with a chance to put his line in the DLF Emporio pop-up store.

Lately, the luxurious multi-designer boutique Aza opened its doors for the fashion enthusiasts of Ludhiana at MBD Neopolis Mall, offering creations by the venerated names of Indian fashion.
The store spanning 3,000 square feet was launched with a soiree seeing fashion’s favourite leggy lasses showcasing the collections of designers Neeta Lulla, Nishka Lulla and Rocky S, along with Bollywood diva Bipasha Basu gracing the event.
The recently launched boutique features the designs of Anamika Khanna, Gaurav Gupta, Jaya Rathore, Kiran UttamGhosh, Manish Malhotra, Mayank Anand Shraddha Nigam, Neeta Lulla, Pallavi Mohan, Rocky S, Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna, Sabyasachi, and Varun Bahl.
About the launch, Aza founder Dr. AlkaNishar, said, “We have spent months curating the perfect collection for Ludhiana. Through this store, Aza hopes to bring Ludhiana the best in Indian designer wear at the most competitive prices, so individuals no longer need to travel to other cities to shop.”
Lately, the collaboration between jewellery Designer Naina Balsaver Ahmad and couturier Rimple & Harpreet Narula saw them unveiling their jewellery and summer couture line, respectively, over champagne and canapés at the store of the latter at Defence Colony, New Delhi.
The jewellery on display combined heritage with cutting edge contemporary colored stones with finest diamonds and exquisite finishes to gold and platinum. The highlight was a range of Kundan and Polki reminiscent of the Raj era. On the other hand, Designer duo Rimple & Harpreet Narula offered a range with bling embellishment and rare embroideries. The flowy silhouettes with drapes and layers came in shades of white, beige, fruity and jewel tones.
The event witnessed the glam brigade of the city including Saba Ali Khan, Devi Cherian, VimlaCherian, BinduDalmia, Vesna Jacob, Ammu Zaidi, Nilofer&Nusrat, Ramola Bachchan, Kamini Singh, Tanisha Mohan, VaniTripathi, Neena Verma and many more.
Now, Rihanna has teamed up with Armani Jeans for her second capsule collection featuring faded denims and cotton basics. The denim jumpsuit and a zippered flight jacket being the highlights of the collection exude that youthful spunky attitude which the singer embodies. All of the pieces of the collection feature Rihanna’s signature ‘R’.
The School of Fashion at Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California presented collections from graduating students at the 2012 Graduation Fashion Show and Awards Ceremony. At the invitation only event on Thursday, May 3rd, Dr. Elisa Stephens, president of the University gave the degree of Honorary Doctorate to Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander McQueen, milliner Philip Treacy, and H.R.H. Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud, who has extensive experience in luxury retail and is the CEO of the ALFA and AL HAMA companies that own and operate Harvey Nichols Department Store, Donna Karan, and DKNY stores in Saudi Arabia.
In addition to Sarah Burton, Philip Treacy, and H.R.H. Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud, Suzy Menkes the fashion editor of International Herald Tribune, Cathy Horyn the fashion critic of The New York Times, Stephan Rabimov the editor in chief of DEPESHA, and Jayne Seward the fashion editor of Apparel News visited classrooms to speak to students and view their work.
Preceding the Fashion Show and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 3rd, graduating students from the School of Fashion presented their portfolios to industry professionals, recruiters, and guests. The Portfolio Review is an opportunity for students from specializations including Fashion Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, Fashion Illustration, Textile Design, Knitwear Design, and Fashion Design to showcase their work, encouraging consideration for internship placements.
Sharon Lu, M.F.A. Fashion Merchandising, was offered an internship by Her Royal Highness Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud. Lu will work with Princess Reema on her newest venture, Bara Boux, a collection of accessories for the modern Bedouin Woman. Jacqueline Michie, B.F.A. Costume Design, was awarded an internship with Philip Treacy at his millinery studio in London.

The celebrated English fashion model AgynessDeyn will soon be seen on silver screen in a full-fledged role, starring in a film adaptation of legendary Scottish novel Sunset Song.
The model who previously appeared in a small role in Clash of the Titans will now be in the lead role in this tale of social hardship in 1930s Scotland. The movie will be directed by acclaimed British filmmaker Terence Davies and will feature Agyness in the character of a farmer in poverty stricken rural community of Scotland.
