The Flavours of FranceThe flavours of France lately kissed the taste buds of Mumbai at A French Gourmet Rendezvous hosted by Paris Region Economic Development Agency (PREDA) at Tote in the city.

Organized with the aim of highlighting the business opportunities offered to Indians by the Paris Region and its international trade-shows, the event saw the French flavors with a twist of Indian culture embracing the tinsel town. The venue was transformed with white flowers and chocolate Eiffel towers elegantly placed on every table. And on offer were French wines with a lavish French menu of cuisine comprising cheeses, sweet and savory crepes.

Speaking at the event Mr. Jean-Luc Margot Duclot of PREDA said, “The Paris Region Trade Shows is a leading platform for innovation, creation as well as serious business. Trade relationship between India and France is already important and has a strong potential. The French and Indian markets offer major business opportunities for exporters and importers of both countries. The ever-growing number of international exhibitors testifies to the Paris Region shows’ worldwide prestige, as does the presence of world –class experts and industry figures participating in these events”.

The event witnessed some renowned names of showbiz industry to savor the French milieu including Queenie Singh, Zeba& Rajesh Kohli, James Ferreira, Lascelles& Pallavi Symmons, AashishSajnani,  Rashmi Nigam,  Sangeeta Khanna, Henry &AshitaTham, Sanjay Menon, Aarti & Kailash Surendranath, Ajay Bhatt and many more.

The much-awaited – Jeane Couture, a new fragrance from the French fashion house, Lanvin hits the beauty counters across the world.

The rehashed sophisticated variation of JeaneLanvin, the new fragrance comes packed in a sleek bottle with a ribbon on its neck, and is much mature and womanly than its predecessor. The newest Couture edition by Lanvin after a gap of 4 years has notes of rose, violet leaves, cedarwood, musks, peonies and magnolias.

The recently released Jeane Couture ad campaign features model Juju Ivanyuk, and has been shot by Sofia Sanchez and Mauro Mongiello.

Kate Moss Topless for CharityThe world renowned English model, Kate Moss, known for popularizing the global phenomenon of size zero shows a size thousand heart by donating her topless picture to raise funds for a children’s charity.

The shot taken by Norwegian Photographer Solve Sundsbo features the supermodel posing nimbly in gold metallic trousers with her crossed arms veiling the bust. The picture has been donated to the National Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Children and will be auctioned at Bonham’s on May 17, 2012, alongside other pictures of the famous people around the globe.

Uggs Wins Counterfeit LawsuitUggs, known around the world as much for style as for warmth and comfort, may now be known for being counterfeited in hordes.

In a recent activity, Ugg Australia won two counterfeit lawsuits against Chinese websites, making it grab the payment of $686 million which accounts for more than half of its sale in 2011. The shoe brand got the sum after some 3007 websites based in China were found selling fake Ugg products.

The move also resulted in 6000 names being transferred in ownership of Uggs, disabling each site’s ability to trade. Besides, the sheepskin boot’s brand also removed 19,000 links related to its products from search engines.

Ritu Kumar for The ForestThe veteran designer, Ritu Kumar goes a cinematic way by designing costumes for her son, Ashwin Kumar’s upcoming movie – The Forest.

The film which is loosely based upon the writings and exploits of Jim Corbett and uses the tale of a man-eating leopard to address the environmental concerns, features actress Nandana Sen in urban chic look visiting the forest in designer wear.

Sharing the concept of her designs in the movie, Ritu Kumar, said, “Designing costumes for the movie was a departure to any costumes that I have done in my career, as they were based more on an environment friendly locale than actual costumes that I have designed for The little terrorist which were more based on a rustic ethnic community.

The film is set in the foothills of Garhwal and the children and villagers wear Himachal costumes, with intricate woven patterns and kulu headgear there. In movie Nandana Sen wore t- shirts, khakhi jeans and a safari jacket over them all with khakhi jodhpurs and khakhi hat with a twist..The entire team of the forest officers, the police head were a fusion of casual woolen dressing, organic clothes like a poncho made of Garhwal blankets and real uniforms from the forestry department to lend the film its authenticity."

The Moments of TriumphThe much sought after and talked about award in the liberated world of lingerie and swimsuits, Triumph Inspiration Award, of late announced the India winner of its 2012 edition.

The bold and beautiful design of PoojaUpadhyay was finally judged the best by a jury comprising of the names like Anna Singh, Nisha Jamwal, Anupama Verma, Anchal Kumar and Vikram Bawa. The winner will now be seen proving her mettle in design in Shanghai where the International final of the awards will be held in month of October.

The evening also saw Triumph presenting its much awaited animal print collection christened ‘Wild & Sexy’ for the first time in India with a well-choreographed fashion show. The eclectic collection which is wild on colour, prints and smooth on fit comes as playful and sexy.

The multi-designer boutique White unveiled a limited edition Spring Summer 2012 collection of accessories by labels like St. Erasmus, A.k.a. Bespoke, Gaurav Gupta, Sanchita, Radhika Jha, RiddikaJesrani, Starfish, Taramay and Raakesh Agarvwal at its boutique at The Gallery on MG, New Delhi, of late.

From unique jewels and clutches to leather accessories such as fortune diaries, planners, travel wallets, utility pouches, i-pad cases and pencil cases, the hand-picked collection was an assortment of beautiful and practical signature pieces. Also on display were sculptural necklaces in platinum pearls and gold encrusted with Swarovski elements.

SNDT Presents ShalomA fashion evening ‘Shalom’ for and by the graduating students of SNDT Women’s University was recently organized at the St Andrews Auditorium in Mumbai.

The show choreographed and mentored by designer James Ferreira saw the students of the Department of Fashion Design of the university presenting their eclectic splendid collections. Amongst many interesting designs on showcasing, the creations of PritikaWadhwani and RiddhiTolani were declared as the most creative collection. The cynosure of the evening was actor PurabKohli who walked the ramp in an avantgarde creation, along with many other leading models.

The event witnessed some renowned names of fashion and cinema lending their support to the participating students. The attendees included Mayank Anand, Shraddha Nigam, Brinda Miller, MeherCastelino, Archana Kochhar, Nisha Sagar and Annu Malik amongst others.
