Reebok Stirs a Controversy
Last year it was the false advertisement of easytone shoes by Reebok claiming some health benefits which made the brand pay hefty fine of $25 million, and in the status quo it’s a controversial ad reading ‘Cheat on your girlfriend, not your workout’.
The newest ad, though not issued worldwide, prompting the people to work out religiously faced enough ire of the public through social media that the world renowned maker of sports gear had to remove the ad from display.
In response to the public backlash, Reebok issued an apology expressing its regret over the offensiveness of the ad and assured that the brand did not condone this message or cheating in any way.
Vivienne hits Merino lane
The unique camaraderie between iconic British designer Vivienne Westwood and the Woolmark Company marked the latest Autumn Winter 2012 collection by Vivienne Westwood Gold Label.
Taking her inspiration from the Wool Lab, a seasonal collection of new wool fabrics from around the world, Vivienne Westwood celebrated the elegance of fine Australian merino wool through knitted and woven garments in her new collection at Paris Fashion Week. The highlights of the range included voluminous capes, structured corsets, jackets, 100% Merino wool jersey button down pieces and pleated style fine skirts in Autumnal shades. The cooperation will see her working together with the Woolmark Company in future to market the benefits of merino wool being the global brand ambassador for the natural fiber.
The designer who has always been an avid supporter of wool in fashion says, “Wool is one of the world’s great natural fibres, famous for its versatility and comfort – warm in winter, cool in summer, it is incredibly versatile. When I began as a fashion designer, well over thirty years ago, I succeeded in re-introducing into fashion the idea of fine knitwear, the English twinset. Everybody loves this fine knitwear. It’s so light, so comfortable. You can add more than one layer and it looks great.”
