Urban life, with all its exhilarating references, is the design inspiration for SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS’ Fall/Winter 2012/13 trends and innovations. A dazzling kaleidoscope where cultures merge and collide, the city has long been a magnet for artists and thinkers, where views and values are shared and ideas are born.

The analysts at Swarovski Elements have identified five new trends that riff on the theme of global conurbation, defining design creativity for coming Fall/Winter: CHICAGO (Classic), COPENHAGEN (Harmony), SHANGHAI (Romantic), BERLIN (Progressive) and ISTANBUL (Glamour). Each provides a cultural reference point that epitomizes a particular distinctive style of sparkle and glamour; these are freeze-framed, capturing their influence on the world of design in a moment in time.

The newest cutting edge crystal additions from Swarovski Elements have new colors, newer fusion concepts and settings. The range of new colors provoking new artistic expressions are comprised of shades like Denim blue connoting the ubiquitous world of blue, Crystal Petrol Pearl inspired of the deep teal blue tones of a peacock’s feathers and Crystal Antique Pink taking back to 50s.

Sherin Sam, the 5′ 9” Malayali beauty raised in Kuwait is a fresh face in the industry. Fun loving by nature who loves to make other people smile brings more grace to her personality. She spends a lot of time with the little tots who are brought up in orphanages. Let’s have an inside glance to know more about the model.

Tell us something about your formative life and academics?
I was born in Bangalore but a few years later I moved with my family to Kuwait. My family still stays there. After the completion of my 12th I came back to Bangalore to pursue my degree in Bachelor of Business Management from Al-Ameen College. I completed my degree last year (2010).

How did you bumped into modeling?
I started with Femina Miss India South and after that opted for the Ford Super Model where I bagged the title out of the 14 finalists all over the world. And gradually I started becoming a known face in this industry. Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week is the biggest fashion week I have participated in till date.

So you always wanted to be a model? If you had not been a model what else would have yearned for?
I always aspired to become a pilot. But somehow I ended up with modeling. My friends in Bangalore compelled me to try modeling because I had a good height and I thought let me give it a shot, though I am really happy about it now.

What’s your style statement?
I don’t have any style statement. I go for anything that suits me. One just needs to carry it with a right attitude.

What’s your take on drug abuse and suicides which are so prevalent in this entertainment industry?
I have no comments about it.

So what do you like to do when not modeling?
I love dancing, I do salsa and classical. I even like reading. Traveling and photography are two more things I would like to add on. I visit such places which are much not discovered or known by people.

What was your parent’s point of view on you choosing modeling as a career?
I do belong from a family who are firm followers of Christianity. My parents were against this career option in the beginning but once I made through Fords they were pretty convinced. And as long as I am good with it, they are happy with my decision.  I never do anything which would make them ashamed of.

When and what was your first modeling assignment?
I started with a commercial in South for Malabar gold which was shot around four months back.

What do you think of Bollywood as a career option?
I have already received few offers for South Indian movies and coming to bollywood I haven’t tried yet. I want to focus on my work for now but yes I would like to be a part of bollywood someday.

What is your ideal date?
(Giggles) I have never thought about it so far.

Quick Snippet-

Dream destination- I want to reach the peak in my career

Describe yourself in one word– Fun loving

Favorite music– Hunnhh! I listen to classical as well as rock; it completely depends on my mood. I mostly prefer meaningful songs.

Favorite designer– No comments, all are my favorites

Favorite brand– Mango and Guess
With fashion drifting Eastwards, Hermes floated too and unveiled its new line of limited saris for Indian customers lately.

Inspired by Hermes signature printed silk scarves, the line of traditional Indian saris cost between Rs 3 to 4 lakhs, targeting the rapidly growing billionaire club in the country. A total of 28 saris line came with the opening of Hermes second store in India – in Mumbai.

About its latest venture, spokesman for Hermes said that they "Don’t know whether we are going to keep them for the long run. It depends on how people receive them.”

In the wonderful setting of the Italian Embassy in Paris, the evening was dedicated to the launch of the new Tod’s Signature Collection, expression of the brand DNA and its classical yet modern values.

Tod’s has always been interested in culture and arts, and to celebrate its Siganture Collection the brand selected the sculptures of the Italian artist Marcello Jori, whose sense of the materials and whose ability to turn them into artworks full of life and dimensions perfectly meets the passion that Tod’s always had for the beauty and the quality of materials.

The models of the Tod’s Signature Collection include different shapes and sizes: a shoulder bag, a portfolio clutch, a small trunk style, a shopper, a soft envelope clutch and a pochette bag. Everything is realised with highly selected leather, like very soft metalized leather, a shiny calfskin and a semi-opaque nappa leather. The colour palette for the next spring/summer presents new, wonderful colours.

Last autumn, the House of Gucci introduced Gucci Guilty for Her, a fragrance for an iconoclast who lives life at full throttle – potent, spirited, unrepentant. The Gucci Guilty heroine is a 21st Century beauty who holds all in her thrall, her scent an audacious contemporary creation.

Now we meet her partner-in-crime….

Gucci Guilty for Him is an intense and individual contemporary fougère that provokes as it seduces.

The scent seizes hold of the senses with a heady cocktail of invigorating Italian lemon and mandarin with crushed green leaves – evocative of sap rising – and a defiant punch of pink pepper.

Its middle motifs persuade like a whispered invitation. The herbal freshness of lavender coils around an aphrodisiac cardamom note – at once stimulating and entrancing – on an unexpectedly tender bed of orange flower and neroli.

The patchouli that is the hallmark of all Gucci fragrances is married with cedar and sandal wood gleaming with amber to create a robustly earthy, yet suggestively exotic sensuality of a profound masculinity.   The effect is both remarkable and uncompromisingly alluring.
