With revving up cars, pit lane girls, free flowing champagne and hormonal chaos, India is just a week away to witness the decadence of F1 Grand Prix. In a run up to three long mad days of F1, Mercedes Benz in association with Stylo, a London-based Asian fashion entertainment company staged the Fashion Grand Prix party entitled, ‘Stylo & the 7 deadly sins; Recycling is new black’ at Hype, Mumbai.
One of the most coveted parties amongst the fashionistas in the world celebrated eco- friendly fashion in the smothering F1 mania. The night witnessed handpicking and bringing 300 of its top customers from all over India to this event. Dedicated to spread messages of conservation, the focus was on utilization of wastes presented through a fashion collection.
One of the main highlights of the event was DJ Aqeel coming up with a presentation supported by supermodels turned DJs who are winners and finalists of Ford Supermodels of the World, Malaysia 2011.
Gaurav Jai Gupta, a member of the FDCI, has won the award for the Most Commercial Collection at the IAF Designer Awards at the 27th International Apparel Federation (IAF) World Apparel Convention 2011, which was held on 15th October in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
The objective of the IAF Designer Awards is to invite and encourage prominent Designers from all over the globe and to participate in this prestigious contest. By strengthening the exchange among IAF Member Associations, international fashion design is promoted among the most influential decision makers in the apparel industry.
All IAF Member Associations are invited to participate in this event, by nominating one designer from their country, who represents the country and has been the best in the business for at least 3 years, to take part in the contest.
Gaurav Jai Gupta was the official nomination from India and won the award for his spring summer 2012 collection. He competed with designers from countries like Greece, Colombia, Taiwan, Australia etc.
Congratulating Gaurav, Mr. Sunil Sethi, President FDCI said, “Gaurav has made the Indian fashion fraternity proud by winning the ‘Most Commercial Collection’ award at the IAF.
