The ninth season of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin from July 6- 9, 2011 staging its Spring Summer 2012 collections of the designers flocking the city from across the world is being held outside the Berlin’s landmark Brandenburg Gate.
The four days of fashion extravaganza with every growing season is drawing decision makers, fashion enthusiasts and designers in ever increasing numbers to the city of Berlin. With 50 shows presenting Spring Summer 2012 designs, the event is seen as a show where young designers who often struggle to get noticed in New York, Milan or Paris can highlight their clothes.
In addition to the already well-known runway venue, for the first time there is a presentation space, the Studio, where designers can give free rein to their creativity without being bound to a classic catwalk. The Studio opens the possibility to build unique scenery, and allow the professional audience to roam freely; giving them the opportunity to view the collection up close.
With 14 designers on day one, fashion reined the city of Berlin with exquisite designs by the labels like Escada, G-Star Raw and Diesel. Fittingly, the first day featured a top-quality, diverse programme and captivated guests right from the start.
It witnessed New York fashion designer Marc Jacobs hosting the Designer for Tomorrow show for promising new fashion talents.
The coming days will see interesting collections by designers presenting their new trends including Hugo Boss, Patrick Mohr, Strenesse Blue and Irene Luft.
