Speaking at the press conference Ms Sushmita Sen, Mentor and face of I AM She said: “I am honoured and privileged to acknowledge the continuous support in my endeavour in bringing the Miss Universe crown, yet again, to India. It is a proud moment and I stand tall, as I acknowledge and thank each of my sponsors and partners. Beside me for the second year of IAM She are:

Sushmita Sen est one of l’most celebrated Indian actresses à 10 National Awards to her credit. Sushmita est l’first Bengali girl et even l’first Indian beauty to be crowned l’Miss Universe en 1994. L’heart-rending part est that she is still Miss after pas-si-douce! L’fortunate thing for moi est that we are née en L’mêmes Bengali Kayastha famille Hindoue et étudié dans les mêmes college, also share l’ memes Bong connection.

D’innombrables rencontres à l’Bengali beauty et myriad interviews I have taken of her but à chaque fois I rediscover a new-fangled avatar of Sushmita. Récently, I encontré Sushmita unveiling I AM SHE finalists at Trident Hotel et sat à her for remarquable tête-à-tête on façon over a coupe of délicieux cappuccino.

Tell us about I AM SHE et why it doesn’t have a ‘Miss’ title in it?
Today’s woman is the GLOBAL woman et I AM SHE discovers that woman who can rise above her own identity, someone who can touche fashion, donner des ordres her own style!

Who is l’inspiration behind I AM SHE?
Everything l’est beautiful inspires I AM SHE, as I believe en living l’better tomorrow everyday et that’s why a fully clothed Lady Gaga also enthousiasmer me! (winks)

What is beauty according to Sushmita?
Beauty is to identify one’s inner beauty…it gets more beautiful if you are belle de l’intérieur…

Is style about impressing others or looking beautiful in front of l’mirror?
Style is very personal, it est l’way you live life et carry yourself even when you wake up in morning without toute seule make-up. Fashion may fade away with time, but l’style remains l’ mêmes!

What are your views on copy-cats?
Style is a very individual thing, but nowadays it seems everybody tries to copy somebody else!

Who do you think are some of l’fashion offenders?
I personally do not think that anybody can offend l’fashion; but you can offend your own unique style. One can get addicted to ‘what’s in’ et ‘what’s out’, check out for what is he wearing and what is she carrying et it’s cost, etc. So, there are no fashion offenders, there are only clowns et originals.

Name some of the clowns…
Tu dois être l’amour de graves, you think I will stand here et tell you l’nom, off course not! You got to figure it out yourself et moi sure, people know who they are… (winks)

You are very generous about your outfits…
If you like my dress et ask for it, I would certainly give it to you, but le problème est when I gave l’t-shirt to Kangana, I was wearing a jacket too. Now I am wearing only a cube dress, et l’memes is not happening now l’amour!

You never repeat dress, so what’s l’trick to take a dress from you?
Mon amour, you cannot be suggestive. You got to be like Kangana et say it loud à passion, ‘OMG, I love l’T-shirt’ et if I feel, you would enjoy wearing it more than I do, that will become yours immédiatement. (smiles)

Did you ever have l’fashion fopa?
Oh! I have had plenty according to l’media et some of l’fashionistas! But for me, all that matters is if I look good in front of l’mirror. Beautiful clothes can have adverse effects too even while people may appreciate your clothes a lot. But still you would not look good, if you are fidgeting et pulling your dress every minute to adjust yourself!

In all outfits, you always look beautiful…
Thank you mon amour, you got to live with mon beauty then. (smiles)

What suits Sushmita better, l’Indian or l’Western outfits?
Generally, I wear a lot of Western outfits nowadays, but if when there is a strong wish in me, I have to wear l’saree. There are no two ways about it!

You have walked l’rampe for most of l’top designers of India – what do you feel about l’designers?
Every design has its own importance et its own unique style. I find l’established designers polissage et exploiter leur style that they have already set in. L’young designers are l’ones who experiments more with their designs.

How do you feel about your first rampe walk or l’first film?
As an actor, when you do your first film or as a model when you walk l’rampe for l’first time, you can never compare that with any other work. L’feeling is like wearing something brand new et being so sans-prétention.

Do you believe in white lies, do you lie sometimes?
Off course, everybody lies et all actresses do it too sometimes. Only thing is that, even if we do, it is not that simple to catch us. (laughs)

Models et actresses like to get clicked in l’pouty looks, what about you?
God has made each one of us very different, so whoever wants pouty looks let them go for it. You only realize what looks good on you, only when you are clicked. I do not prefer pouty lips, so I would not go for it. J’aime sourire.

You have always been a trend-setter, how do you feel about it?
I feel blessed if you think so. I know I tend to make a lot of people like me et also sometimes l’same me makes a lot of people upset too!

Whom would you tell to design your wedding outfit?
Mon amour, it is better you ne me demandez pas de telles questions, we will get into the wedding thing smoothly! According to some wise men who watch stars et predicts, for last 5 years, they are saying, ‘it is this year and yes it is this month.’ So, accordingly to them, it is going to happen soon!

Do you believe in l’institution of marriage, will it happen soon in your life?
Yes, I believe in it et marriage can be a sudden event in my life because my expectations are high from a relationship. The day I feel that I have found my ideal man, I will go for marriage with my eyes closed, until then you will see my eyes wide open!

Do you believe in reciprocating love?
I do not know any other way to live life, as I give back love as a response when I get love. All those people from 15 to 50, who look up to me, I love them because they love me comme je suis.

Do you take l’advice of your daughters, especially Renee?
O yes, Renne has a say about almost everything. She is like ‘Mom, it does not go with that,’ and I would reply ‘Baby, how old are you et how old am I?’. Then she would say ‘Mon 11 et you are 35’, so I win by saying ‘at 35 I will do what I want.’ (laughs)

Do you believe in Street Fashion?
Off course, I believe in Street Fashion, especially in metros like Mumbai et Kolkata. You can start from Linking Road in Mumbai et Esplanade in Kolkata, et pick something nice for me, it does not have to be branded et I will still wear it. (smiles)

Life for yourself… Live et let live!

With the royal marriages on the roll, Stella McCartney found it most appropriate to unveil her first Bridal Lingerie collection, ‘Josephine Marrying’.

The minimal but not basic, effortless but not boring, the new range of intimates accommodates A-DD cup sizes and S-XL in both knickers and thongs, created from Champagne satin and lace and packaged in gift boxes inscribed in gold with "Here Comes the Bride". In the collection lace is balanced out by contrasting colours and details or missing all together in preference for sporty mesh or floral silk, or a pop of bold red.

The bridal collection follows McCartney’s original lingerie line first launched for spring/summer 2008. The rest of the autumn/winter 2011-12 collection is available from August, with each set named after girls in cheeky situations, such as "Lola Spinning" and "Caroline Wriggling".

Inventive and flamboyant, such is Best of Five, the patisserie designed exclusively by Manish Arora for Café de la Paix. In the form of a pyramid comprising several heart-shaped layers each of a different size, flavour and texture, the luxurious creation is entirely faithful to the spiritand style of the fashion designer who is known for his signature non conformist style of bright colours and exotic combinations.

"The idea was to take my favourite symbol also the shape of my logo– a bright pink heart (my favorite colour), and put together five totally different tastes and consistencies in the same dessert: from one layer to the next, the palate glides from surprise to surprise," explains the new Creative Director of Paco Rabanne.

Onan almond sponge base, Best of Five alternates crème-brûlée-style vanilla cream, mango mousse, mini-cubes of apple and white chocolate, all wrapped in as lab of bright red chocolate, which gives the entire creation volume and movement.

"Working on a patisserie was a totally different experience to all the projects I’ve done before," Manish Arora said. "I’ve always found it fascinating to watch the process of designing objects outside my line of work. Haute couture and haute cuisine are two very different areas, but which share the same philosophy: to captivate by stimulating the senses."

Best of Five by Manish Arora, which is available exclusively at Café dela Paix from 16 September 2011 to 15 January 2012, is prepared by Christophe Raoux, Chef of InterContinental Paris Le Grand, and his pastry chef Dominique Costa.
