The year 1989 marked a milestone for the super-modèle Marc Robinson, and for me too as I came to this globè in l’même année. It was the controversée KamaSutra publicité that shot Marc Robinson-Pooja Bedi and (late) Viveka Babajee-Inder Mohan Sudan up limelight in no-time.

For the last quatre seasons of the Lakme Fashion Week and the Dubai Fashion Week I have been noticing Marc showing merveilles both on and off the rampe, especially through his excellente chorégraphie. Récently, I encontré Marc at Grand Hyatt and sat with him for remarquable chat on façon over a coupe of délicieux cappuccino.

Marc feels that the façon industrie has évolvéd and there are quite a number of viables carrières in the glamour industrie. “In school, I never thought of becoming a modèle and in the université days I was forcéd by my friends to try modélisation. In 1989, the KamaSutra publicité took the nation by storm, but I enjoyed doing it as it was ahead of times to promote safe sex in late 80’s” révéaléd the super-modèle-turned-choreographer.

Fashion rotates in 360° and indeed the young designers are the bolder lot who prefers to expériment. “The établished designers are wise to understand that arts and culture prospère only when the artists are commercially successful too. That’s why we still read William Shakespeare even after 5 centuries as he was commercially very successful in his times. Générally, the young buyers buy from the young designers and vice versa.”

Marc feels that “Façon is for the masses and not merely restricted to the élite. Kareena’s robe in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham gets copiéd in the small towns too in a circuitous manner. I believe that Couture is for the classes, while prêt line is for the masses.” And what about blindly following the west? “Not really, we all take the inspiration from each other and that’s why a lot of Indian embroideries are copied in the West,” divulged the connaisseur de a-la-mode.

Style statement is individualiste and personnel – it dépends in the clothes you wear, the musique you écoutez, the restaurant you visitez, l’ woman who accompanies you, also it keeps evolving all the time.” And Marc leaves with a message for his fans –

“Keep it simple,
                          Keep it stylish,
                                                  …et dare to DREAM!”

The exposition themed “Artisanal- Bringing the Craft to the Fore’ promises a new benchmark in showcasing India’s rich heritage styled in a contemporary manner.  In what will be a fusion of Indian Couture and international construction, the collections will be an amalgamation of the finest weaves, embroideries, jewels, stones and unique techniques.

Keeping in mind the tradition of the event, the “Swarovski Apsara” will adorn the venue helping create a world of grandiose and vibrant beauty.  Symbolic for the ephemeral enchantress, Swarovski Apsara – will be the muse for the bridal couture exposition.

Talking about the Apsara, Tarun Tahiliani said “The Apsara is the symbol of the exposition – giving a new modern shine through use of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS to a traditional form – as is the thrust of Bridal Couture Exposition this year. A new way for our glorious artisanal traditions.”

“We are delighted that our long standing association with Tarun Tahiliani has been redefining luxurious weddings and raised Indian bridal fashion to the level of artistry via this collaboration with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS.  Tarun is one of India’s most celebrated designers and we are very pleased to be able to support him at every important landmark in his career, said Sanjay Sharma, Director, SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, Swarovski India.

‘The Mummy Returns’ actress Rachel Weisz, who recently married Daniel Craig, is the new face of the Bulgari’s Jasmin Noir Fragrance.

The British beauty will represent the brand for a new campaign shot by Mert Atlas and Marcus Piggott, starting in August. The shoot took place in a boudoir with a "seductive and sophisticated" feel.

Despite now fronting the Italian fashion house – which has product lines including watches, fragrances, accessories and handbags – Rachel has previously admitted she knows little about how to make herself look good. She once said, “"I’m a bit of a wash-and-go kind of girl. I don’t know how to blow-dry my hair, so I never do. I have naturally big, frizzy hair, so I normally have at least two or three hairbands on my wrist.”

In the month of June in Milan arrived a new edition of White. It leaves behind the name White Homme and becomes White Giugno, thus varying a modern format: together with menswear, women’s collections will be launched in a young and creative context that also includes art and design, and a calendar of very important culture in-house and ‘fuorisalone’ events created in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan.

The format of White Giugno, with its women’s innovations, selected an exceptional author for an installation in a prestigious location. Antonio Marras, in the night of Saturday, in the Bramante Cloister and Sacristy, will be the protagonist of an inaugural event that combines fashion and art.

The second event that opens White to the town is with Massimo Alba: in the night of Monday, he will disclose men’s and women’s collections among the flowerbeds of the Botanical Garden, the green lung of the Brera quarter, in an evocative setting characterized by musical lights and shades, and intense scents of sweet herbs.

Tradition, Value, Beauty, the exhibition dedicated to the craftsmanship excellence of Made in Italy will give hospitality to Marsell, the research shoe-manufacturing brand, protagonist of an installation called Avant tradition. And to celebrate the first edition of White Giugno, Marsell created two shoe models, one for men and the other for women, which will be exclusively on sale during the show in Milan.

White Giugno, between fashion and culture, inside and outside of the exhibition, in a dimension that exceeds the standards of the show without further explanation. Indeed, the event is enriched  with new contents projected in an innovatory layout, similar to the picture of a modern department store, by enlarging the skyline of its projects to include design and art.
