As the week of thanks and giving approaches most gleefully on our calendars, it is not only the golden slices of turkey or the piping hot mashed potatoes that will fill our plates, but the joy of bracing for the coming winter months with fuzzy slippers, close company, and great flicks.  Enter the brown-eyed beauty and the smoldering blue-eyed charmer, Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal.  Although Hathaway and Gyllenhaal have without a doubt proven themselves beyond comparison (their portrayal in Brokeback Mountain of the tragically torn couple, Jack Twist and Lureen Newsome, won international acclaim), they will reunite in this unlikely love story, taking us once again to new heights, in Love and Other Drugs, surely topping the cake for Cutest Pair gracing the silver screen this holiday weekend.

Love and Other Drugs, directed by Edward Zwick, which will hit theaters early this coming Wednesday the 24th (the first of many sweet things you’ll take in this Thanksgiving), is an offbeat, passionate tale of two non-committal 20-somethings living in a world where the possibility of love is everywhere, even on a prescription pad.  Loosely based on “Hard Sell:  The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman,” Jamie Reidy’s memoir, Love and Other Drugs follows the handsomely overzealous, overachieving, and overly excitable Gyllenhaal throughout his career as a pharmaceutical salesman for Viagra.  Hathaway, a fun-loving free spirit suffering from early Parkinson’s disease, turns the charming Gyllenhaal to butter with her bouncy brunette locks and contagious laugh.

Costarring Oliver Platt, Hank Azaria, Josh Gad, Gabriel Macht, and Judy Greer, the movie delivers exactly what it serves up;  a good hearty dose of L-O-V-E.  All this enticing tale needs to make it complete is a little spot of stuffing and a big helping of sweet pumpkin pie.
