Colours are the route and the portrayal of happiness, believes Ankita Chaudhry therefore the essence of her label SAAJ is the playful, feminine and eclectic use of colours.

SAAJ was born out of the need for a creative outlet for the young designer Ankita, who was then studying commerce in Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC). Having learnt how to work the trade, she polished her inborn creative and aesthetic capacities at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi.

  • Her first collection was when she was 19 years old, it was a beautiful chicken-work tunic collection
  • Saaj was established in 2005
  • Ankita graduated from NIFT in 2009

SAAJ today not only uses Ankita’s creative traits to conjure masterpieces of great elegance and grandeur, but also the team’s exceptional & immense tact and insight to steer the company on to a path of growth and success.

Every design that SAAJ creates should touch a cord with the moods of the end consumer. Each design has to suit a purpose, a mood and carry a personality of its own to such an extent that it amalgates with that of the one who wears it. Ankita gained all the practical aspect of designing while grooming in the early years, but the ‘individuality’ of design was something in-built.

Avantica, sister, handles the finance and supply chain and Sunita, mother, manages the work-force and the production. These two ladies are an integral and indispensable part of SAAJ. Sunita Chaudhry is the backbone of the company and from the mother; the girls draw their determination and strength.

SAAJ has a flagship store in New Delhi and also retails from around 40 designer boutiques and Multi-Designer-Outlets in India, with its presence overseas in UAE, UK, USA, Turkey and Italy.
