This beauty has travelled half of globe from Argentina to set the Desi ramps on fire. Winner of a worldwide hunt to be crowed the Ford supermodel, Carla has managed to make her gorgeous presence felt in the worldwide fashion scene.

Read on to find out more about her life and world:

Tells us something about your background and upbringing?
I belong to Argentina. My family consists of 7 members including me, my mom Stella, my father Diego, my two sisters Romina and Valentina and my two brothers Matias and Fernando.
I finished primary school in Mendoza which is my birthplace. Then I went to high school in Buenos Aires and I started my study of Psychology at University of Buenos Aires which is one of the best universities of Latin America.

How supportive were your parents on you choosing modeling as a career?
My parents are very supportive and encouraging. They always give me a lot of freedom in my decisions. They respect and support me in everything I do and I consider myself blessed to have such parents.

What was your first step into the world of modeling?
My big break came when I won the contest Supermodel of the World 2007 by Ford Models where I was representing my country. After that I worked in the USA (New York, San Francisco, Miami, etc) with big clients like Macy´s Store, etc.

What all important assignments have u been a part of?
I have walked in Fashion weeks in India, USA and Mexico. I have also modeled for several clothing and beauty product brands. Various magazines like Cosmo, Marie Claire, Elle and Vogue have featured me.

What, according to you, is the importance of education in the field of modeling?
Very important, being a model doesn’t mean that you don’t have to study, everyone needs to have knowledge.

How has your experience been in the industry? Are substance abuse etc. as predominant as portrayed?
Well I am super happy to be where I am today and it’s all thanks to the modeling industry. So, I would say my experience has been great. About substance abuse I think that a model has to be careful about whom they work with and what agency represents them so they are in safe hands. Thankfully I have never experienced anything of that sort.

How do you think the fashion has evolved in all these years?
Fashion is a circle, it is very cyclic. There are many things which are retro or classic and they are being merged with new things that are happening in the world, which is great and brings about a new kind of freshness to the fashion scene. Also, I think Indian designers are increasingly concerned about maintaining their own cultures in representing Indian textiles and crafts, what’s better than that!

Tell us about your fitness regime…
Gymming – that’s what I follow! Exercise is what I love and it’s a necessity in our industry to be fit. It also helps me relax my mind.

Beauty regime?
I just drink Lots of water, exercise and totally avoid junk food.

Turning point of life?
I guess my first modeling assignment completely turned my life around. It changed my life and gave me new horizons.

What did you aspire to become as kid?
Actress and singer!!

Tell us your favourites:

  • Food: Cheese fondue.
  • Fragrance: The beat by Burberry.
  • Lingerie brand: La Perla
  • Designer: JP Gaultier
  • Holiday Destination: Any, just has to have beautiful beaches.
  • Night Spot : Friend’s house
  • Magazine: Vogue
  • Icon : The Beatles
  • Photographer: Shaun Alexander

Your greatest achievement?
Being a successful model and that too in all countries I have been to is what I would call my greatest achievement.

What do you think of Bollywood as a career option?
For sure! It’s a big industry and I would love to be a part of it.

What is your idea of an ideal date?
Anyplace but that guy has to be hilarious (as in should have an awesome sense of humor). That is what matters the most to me, setting and location is secondary.

One Thing you just can’t stand…
Intolerance

Something you love and cannot live without…
People who love me (smiles)

One thing that scares you…
Limitations

When was the hottie born?
10th January (I am a Capricorn!)

When not modeling what are you most likely to be found doing?
Painting, I am an artist.

Any Social cause that you feel strongly for and want to be (or you are) associated with?
Education for the poor. I really want to do my bit to help the underprivileged.

Five essentials to be followed by an upcoming model?
Good body, good energy, positive attitude, intelligence and of course the right PR! (Laughs)

Difference between Indian Models and Western Models. Who is a more viable choice internationally and why?
We are all very dedicated and professional towards our work so I don’t see much difference. However western models are easier to work with.(Oops, political incorrectness alert!!)

What is has been the most touching moment of your life?
When I won the Ford Supermodel title. I was very overwhelmed at that point of time.

The global economic slowdown has its pros too. The financial crunch across the world left many pursuing their dreams bestowing them an earnest opportunity to indulge in their heart-ly and live-ly affairs. One such slowdown transmigrations touched Gurjap Singh. Working as a Television Researcher in England, Gurjap had to leave his job during the cutbacks but a new hope embraced Gurjap when the Elite in India signed him.
It was way back in 2008 but over the years Gurjap has emerged as one of the leading models in the Indian modeling industry. You can find him selling Blackberry or spice phones on small screen sharing space with the big names in India.

Your formative years…..
Where should I start from? Ummmm…… My parents are from Ludhiana in Punjab but they shifted to Stoke-On-Trent in England where I was born and bred at. I went to University in Birmingham where I pursued my majors in media and communication. Later I specialized in film production and landed into a job as a Television Researcher for two years before heading to Mumbai for my modeling pursuits.

The way you got spotted…..
I would say that I was not lucky enough to be spotted by some agency head while having a lunch at some restaurant or roaming casually at some crowded place. I was a showman in college and loved to perform but practically I went through serious rejections where modeling agencies in London always had some new excuses for their refusals. But destiny and somewhat my determination synchronized and I just went to Mumbai on a family holiday where my parents left for Punjab and I stayed in this effervescing city which I always wanted to explore. There I bumped into Elite which I had already mailed my pictures and unexpectedly, they signed me up for two years as they found something different in me. It was a tickling surprise for me after umpteen rejections and losing my job during global slowdown.
Bollywood dreams…….
Its amazing…I love the warmth in bollywood even I played a small part in the movie ‘Aap Ki Khatir’ which was shotin London.

You spend your leisure time…….
I read a lot. From fiction to non fiction I can gorge on any genre. Apart from reading I love to play tennis and spend time with my family.

The most touching moment of your life……
Though you are entering in unchartered territory……(laughs) but still I would say it was my elder sister’s wedding that makes me quite nostalgic. Truly, I remember that moment from my heart. It’s very special as my family means a lot to me.

Your idea of a perfect date……
(Smiles) The girl who laughs at my jokes or whom I can make smile will be the preceding factor as far as a date is concerned. Undoubtedly, there must be attraction and her personality should be touching. The rest what I imagine is me and her having great food (as I love food) and a good drink on some amazing serene venue.

Projects you graced with your presence…
I started with Lakme Fashion Week in 2008 and 2009 and Kolkata Fashion Week in 2009 apart from doing commercials like Spice phones (opposite Katrina Kaif), Lipton Tea, Denver Deo, Yamaha Motorbikes, Mahindra Xylo, Blackberry smartphones and many others.

Your fitness regime….
I go to gym daily and work out religiously.

Your style statement…..
In the status quo……A good pair of jeans( turned up bottom), scoop neck faded T-shirt, White Shirt, an excellent watch and casual shoes.
