Inspired by the journey of a young girl full of dreams to a sophisticated woman with grace and individuality, the collection is an amalgamation of her journey from a young girl, her desires, carefree attitude and the “capture the world in her hands” feeling, with the ensembles showing her funky side to a women grown in her desires and feelings, yet wanting to experiment with her attires, having the world within her reach, sophisticated yet young at heart. The collection is inspired from the woman who is confident enough to break free the rules and stand out in the crowd.

She does not restrict herself with colours, instead let the palette go colourful with turquoise, lime, scarlet, emerald, brown, golden, purple, pink and so on. As she grows, the silhouettes also grow with her. From pleating to gathers, waistlines to longer hemlines, symmetric to asymmetric, georgettes to chiffons to tulles, brocades or prints, she is confident enough to carry it all with equal grace and glamour. She knows how to make the journey to her marriage a memorable one. She is not a typical red and green bride, instead would love to wear a blue and pink with such elegance and charm that will make the world follow her.

Wieden+Kennedy’s art gallery presents a first-of-its-kind graffiti art exhibition, ‘Butterflies, Birds + Spray Cans’. In collaboration with British Council, the exhibition features works of one of the traditional urban art forms, aerosol art or graffiti art by prominent UK artist, Xenz aka Graeme Brusby, who is a major figure to emerge from the infamous Bristol street art scene. Curated by W+K Exp, the exhibition will be held from September 6th to October 8th 2010.

Within W+K Exp, the works displayed include paintings, on recovered and recycled metal surfaces, discarded objects found on the streets of London, a multi-layered screen print, traditional canvas and a Mosaic made of 64 canvas tiles.  Xenz explains, "My aim is to develop a community around these mosaics, where people who come to the show are the only ones to ever see it in its complete state – a bit like seeing graffiti before it’s buffed or destroyed. Each participant becomes part-owner of the mural – almost like buying shares."

From September 6-10, with an aim to get this very public art form closer to people, Xenz will be painting onto the perimeter wall of the Charbagh located in the British Council in New Delhi.  Xenz, who has painted walls and even church ceilings across the globe since the early ‘90s, will be painting a mural based on an ‘Enchanted Garden’, giving the public a chance to see the artwork grow over five days.

The opening evening of the exhibition saw some of the prominent Delhi faces including – Manish Arora, Malini Ramani, Sumant Jaikishan, Aparna Chandra, Joey Matthews, Vyom Mehta, George Martin, Tarun Pal, and many more

Born and brought up in New York, fashion prodigy Diva Dhawan landed on the ramp when she was just 14. It was the charity shows for Manish Arora and JJ Valaya in New York which introduced this attitude laden fay to the Indian fashion alleys. Ensconced by now, the Garnier girl flaunting her long trailing hair is a regular ravishing feature of Indian ramps.

Haloed with fashion, Diva is pursuing her studies at F.I.T, New York City. Splicing her engagement with modeling and marriage with fashion she is straddling the joust of love these days. So lets know more about coercible-ly gravitating Diva Dhawan.

Tell us briefly about your early life, family and academics?
I was born & brought up on Long Island which is in New York. Even as a child I would visit India frequently to see family. I went to private school here & am now still studying at F.I.T which is the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. I love it! It was always my dream school. Even though I now spend my time between India & NY, my family still lives here but my mom often comes to India with me.

How you bumped into your first assignment?
It started out while walking for Charity fashion shows which were taking place in NY. The designers who had participated were Manish & JJ. After that I started working in India.

What did you aspire to become as kid?
It was never one specific thing. Actually, I always had an interest in Fashion, but always about the business side. Though, I always knew I wanted to travel for my work.

Which shows ( designers) and commercials have you graced with your presence?
I’ve participated in fashion week for the last three years in Delhi. And I just finished my first Lakme Fashion Week as well. So I guess almost all the designers who have taken part in either of these events. As for commercials, I’ve only done Garnier for hair care.

Your greatest achievement?
Being able to work & live in India while Studying in NYC.

When not modeling what are you most likely to be found doing?
Watching movies, studying, & eating out with friends.

Any social cause that you feel strongly for and want to be( or you are ) associated with?
I have helped out with a charity called Children’s Hope, it reaches out to children in poverty providing them with a home & food. Personally on a day to day basis it’s nice to know you can do something little for someone to make their lives easier. I believe more in living your life somewhat like a social cause itself.

What has been the most touching moment of your life?
That’s a tough question, I appreciate a lot of moments in my life..mmmm…. I think if you ask me again in a couple of years, I may have the answer ?

Your take on modeling industry in India and abroad?
Regarding the modeling industry, India is still growing compared to other markets. The way the business works in India is different than the way things work abroad.

What is fashion for you?
I like to quote one of my much loved professors when it comes to fashion – “Fashion is Evolutionary, Not Revolutionary”

Your icon/ role model in life?
 My Mom.

Your beauty and fitness regime?
Sleep well
Start my day with a healthy breakfast
Yoga

Any interesting experience in your career span?
My whole modeling career in India has been one big adventure.

Medhavani Khaitan Agarwala’s fashion touches blending with style and subtlety brings her extraordinaire collection alive. Fashion conscious she always was, passion and profession merged with her enrollment at Wigan & Leigh College for a diploma in fashion design. She did a couple of fashion programmes at the London College of fashion, Central St.Martins College of Art & Design and the Inter-Continental University in London. She then studied menswear at London Centre for Fashion Studies, finally launching her menswear label in August 2004.

Declared a Winner at the ’Parampara Pret’ show in Kolkata in 2004 by Sabyasachi Mukherjee and by Anamika Khanna in 2005, Sabyasachi marked her as the girl to watch out for in the near future. ‘Her work is simple and very mature. I love her creations’, certified Sabyasachi. Medhavini has also successfully been a part of the ‘Call of the Peacock’ exhibition organized by the IMC and the Portobello fashion market for upcoming designers in London.

Lounge-wear being her forte she describes her line as: “My collection reflects the choice of the upwardly mobile urban men – trendy with wearibility being the prime preference.” She loves playing with colours and experimenting with texturing. With her range, Medhavini has struck a perfect balancing act, where simplicity remains the essential mark of the collection, yet it’s not short on versatility.

Participating in the Van Heusen Men’s Week for the first time, she showcased her Indian line inspired from water. Done in Creams, kesar, limegreen, blue, coffee and black, a lot of texturing in the form of ripples, waves and zig zag thread work has been used. Two tone texturing, pleating, plaits and kantha embroidery brought the short & long jackets, kurtas, achkans & angarkhas an aesthetically arresting appeal, keeping the festive season ahead in the mind. On the other hand, shirts with formal fabrics, stripes and white cuffs have been designed keeping Friday dressing concept in mind.

After leaving the audiences spell bound in North India with their exotic and elegant designs, designer duo Kapil and Monika have enough reason to present their new bridal couture and indo western collection in grand style at the Kolkatta Couture Fashion Week with ace bollywood actress Mugdha Godse being the show stopper for the designer duo.

The collection comprises of richly embellished lehengas, sarees, cocktail gowns giving the feel of the mughal era with heavy embellished motifs to zardozi work on velvets and tunics in a medley of pinks, beige, mauve, reds, black, blues and whites. Most outfits are easy to drape, with fabrics ranging extensively from velvet, brocade and chandelier net, creating an absolutely mesmerizing effect. Embroideries in contemporary patterns and embellishments in swarvoskis and stones lend the garments a magnetic, alluring feel. With each ensemble designed, Kapil & Monika endeavor to go beyond the realm of convention and produce an effect that is simply dazzling.

The menswear designer, Rajvi Mohan has been chosen to display at the multi-day showcase scheduled to be held on September 11 – 14, 2010 at the Metropolitan Pavilion South, New York.

Indian designer goes to the show, for the very first time. New York Fashion Week STYLE360 is a coveted platform for emerging talent worldwide. With a reputation of being an exceptional experience, the fashion extravaganza has been the launch pad for gifted designers like Avril Lavigne, Zaldy, Patricia Fields, Rodarte, Costello Taglipietra, Walter and Malan Breton. The show has acted as a catalyst for their success.

Rajvi Mohan is known for creating a distinctive design aesthetic of sophisticated, fun and quirky designs for the discerning male who lives and works in a global space. Her style is a series of stories juxtaposed to create a new fashion idiom, which the global fashion shall witness at her showcase on September 13, 2010. The designer has partnered with the lifestyle brand New Era and its EK collection of caps for runway.

The collection she is going to showcase is called ‘Out of the Blue’, inspired by the sea, it is the manifestation of carefree summer days with bursts of the setting sun and mystery of the midnight sky. Indigo and cool blues playing with creams and beautiful whites, a touch of aubergine and greens, and reminiscence of a summer sunset, all come alive in light and fresh fabrics of linen, Egyptian cottons, voiles and Indian handloom fabric ‘Chanderi’.

This season, Anju Modi presents a collection that pays tribute to the Royal Gharanas of Benares. She brings to the fore rich heritage of Benares craft with a contemporary twist. The collection is titled ‘an ode to Benaras’ as she showcases on the 10th of September at the upcoming Kolkata Couture Fashion Week.
