On Wednesday, 24th September, Adidas made a major announcement of the opening of its design studio at Brooklyn, which will be staffed by threw design veterans from Nike, namely Denis Dekovic, Marc Dolce and Mark Miner.

Under the mentorship of these designers, the store will focus on exclusive design direction for Adidas and developing an enhancing interaction of the company with the consumers, thereby making Adidas a U.S friendly brand.

Speaking of the three veterans from Nike, Denis is a recent football footwear designer at Nike and possesses experience in women’s, basketball and tennis. Dolce has an extensive and detailed exposure about Nike’s sportswear division and Miner is famed for his excellent work on the Nike Free Run style.

Hitting the grounds early next year, the Brooklyn Design Studio will successfully enable Adidas to make a move towards it belief exploring design direction for the brand. Moreover, the strategic location of the store is by and large going to attract a number of customers.

photoMarking his own international milestone and making the country proud, Goa based designer Wendell Rodricks won the prestigious International French Distinction, ‘Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres’ by the Minister of Culture and Communications Ms. Aurélie Fillipetti, Paris. The English translation of the award states: Knight in the National Order of Arts and Letters.

The designer follows the footsteps of some of the most iconic names in the world, such as T.S. Elliott, Audrey Hepburn, Jeanne Moreau, Sean Connery, Marion Coutillard, George Clooney, Jude Law and Cate Blanchett, who have been bestowed with the same honour for outstanding contribution in the fields of art and literature.

Meanwhile, Rodricks is also the first designer to bring this prestigious award to Goa. Rejoiced at the occasion, he expressed in a humble tone, ‘I am elated at this knighthood. It is even more delightful for me, since my art is based on simple tailoring. To get this distinction is an affirmation that any humble craft can be recognised internationally’.

However, the award will be handed over to him possibly during the upcoming Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in Delhi or in Goa.

The merriment of the Paris Fashion Week continues to enthral the fashion savvy audience in the most surprising and exciting manner. The third day saw fashion labels like Roland Mouret, Carven, Manish Arora, Balmain, Rick Owens and Lanvin amongst many others.

580 1The day kicked off with the three most elegant and lavish labels of all times, namely Roland Mouret, Carven and Manish Arora. The former’s ready to wear creations were delicate and appropriately feminine. One feels the extreme urge to grab any of the brightly coloured ensembles for an immediate hangout or a casual party. For Carven, however, it was all about showcasing the unique blend of sophisticated street wear. Wearability mostly ranged from casual wear to exotic semi-formal wear. Following stepped in Manish Arora, whose collection was extremely pink and girly. 3D embellishments, metallic finishes, funky caps and over-sized silhouettes were the main attractions of his collection.

580 2Speaking of the other highlights of the day, Balmain, Rick Owens and Lanvin, all the three fashion houses came up with dark and deep ready to wear creations. However, Rick Owens’ included a few lighter shades, with free flowing silhouettes, unique cuts and layers. Balmain and Lanvin, on the other hand showcased a more formal collection. Balmain’s exclusivity was reflected through the webbed belts, the applique prints and the uniquely styled garments. Lanvin went comparatively monotonous in order to present innumerable choices for office goers.

580The day progressed further in full swing with Ann Demeulemeester, Paco Rabanne, Sharon Wauchob, Barbara Bui,Nina Ricci, Zadig and Voltaire and Christian Wijnants. The Paris Fashion Week has till present raised the bars of expectations for the onlookers. The outcome of the upcoming days now stands highly anticipated.

200The French luxury leather goods brand, Louis Vuitton marks its all new foray into print media, with the chairman and chief executive, Michael Burke launching an exciting Biannual Magazine. Titled ‘The Book’, the first issue of the magazine spans 126 pages, including men’s-wear shoot in Iceland, shot by Peter Lindbergh and a feature story referring to vintage Keepall bags in monogram canvas, the oldest being 31 years old.

The magazine will also feature an interview with Catherine Deneu and will havie Charlotte Gainsbourg on the cover. It will be translated into 11 different languages and will be emailed to selected customers.200 1

Speaking of the contributors of the magazines, the art direction has been done by Yorgo Tloupas and the editorial lies in the hands of Sylvia Jorif, who has previously been a contributor to French Elle.

430One of the most celebrated designers of India-Ritu Kumar opens a new flagship store at the Palladium Mall in Mumbai. Introducing the first ever tuxedo line under the label, the designer celebrated the launch of her latest Autumn Winter 2014 collection which was hosted by Amrish Kumar and Puja Anita Dadlani.

Comprising of a variety of evening and day wear ensembles, the collection effectively caters to the modern day contemporary Indian Woman. The wrap dresses, maxis, shifts, skirts, jumpsuits and trendy trouser style suits and jackets were all in bright colours full of life. The silhouettes were mostly structured embellished with applique on surface Rajasthani and Gujarati prints and embroideries.

Moreover, glimpses of the fall winter range, designed by the famed French designer Samy Chalon, is also a part of the store.

Rejoicing on this auspicious occasion were some of the shining faces of the industry, including Waluscha Robinson, Ira Dubey, Rashmi Nigam, Amrita Raichand, Deeksha Seth, Sheena Sippy, Anjana Sukhani, Nisha Jamwval, Apeksha Chopra, Priya Tanna, Anuja Bijlani, Vikram Raizada and Archana Pillai amongst many others who were completely flabbergasted by the vintage and luxurious experience at the store.

TheCrownn-222The Crown Estate, which owns property on behalf of the Queen, joined hands with Westminster City Council for the renaming of the southernmost end of London’s Regent Street, south of Piccadilly Circus to be officially known as Regent Street St James’s. Marking a milestone in the 10 years long vision of the Crown Estate, the renaming will turn the area into a distinctive destination.

The unveiling of the new name also marked the substantial completion of the Piccadilly Two Way, Phase II, project which involved improvements to public realm and street environment around Regent Street St James’s, Haymarket, Charles II Street and Waterloo Place. The area now has wider pavements, two traffic lanes instead of four and pedestrian-friendly crossings.

Meanwhile, Regent Street St James’s is already home to a number of fashion brands including Barbour, Tiger of Sweden, Sunspel, JM Weston and Osprey London.

Also, the event marks only the fourth time a street in this part of the city has been renamed in the last 20 years. It will surely create a destination that will be loved and recognised by visitors and Londoners.

L’Oreal Paris’ upcoming collection titled ‘Exclusive Pure Reds’, is bagged by a number of leading super models and actresses for its campaign. Featuring Blake Lively, Zoe Saldana, Jane Fonda, Julianne Moore, Liya Kebede, Freida Pinto, Eva Longoria, Aishwarya Rai and Natasha Poly, the campaign launches four new lipsticks shades, each named after one of these models.

These famed faces have been take from all across globe, coming from different acting and modelling backgrounds. All of them have been pictured in an interesting fashion that effectively portrays the different shades of red produced by the cosmetic giant.

580The names of the lipsticks, as mentioned earlier, have been named after models, for instance,Eva’s is a brick red shade, Liya’s is an orange-tinged theatrical shade, Blake’s a darker berry shade and Julianne’s is vermillion red.

Also, actress Frieda Pinto is seen posing behind the scenes shot of the campaign, alongside Eva Longoria and Natasha Poly.

Undeniably, L’Oreal has once again come up with cosmetics that make the wearer feel empowered, confident and beautiful from within.

Dries Van Noten, Guy Laroche and Balenciaga appeared to be the most enthusiastic exhibitors during the second day of the fashion week. Of the three, Dries Van Noten was the most exquisite. The collection included some oomph filled evening wear ensembles in the most comfortable and easy to wear fabrics. Guy Laroche and Balenciaga, on the other hand, were more inclined towards delicacy and sophistication. Semi-formal and formal wear were at the essence for both the fashion houses. The colour palette was also very feminine, elegant and soothing to the eyes.

360 2Christophe Lemaire, Sonia by Sonia Rykiel, Cédric Charlier and Yang Li progressed with the rest of the day. The feature common to them all was the use of pastel, basic and minimal colour combinations. However, for Sonia Rykiel and Cédric Charlier it was all about being funky and glamorous. While Sonia’s creations were completely day and casual wear, Cédric’s collection was a complete evening wear including some glamorous gowns, sleek dresses, and mesmerising layered dresses.

580 1Besides, Christophe Lemaire and Yang Li showcased a complete formal and office wears. Silhouettes were mostly structured and over-sized, thereby keeping the comfort factor intact. Also, ‘simplicity is the best kind of sophistication’ seemed to be the designers’ inspiration for both these collections.

580Meanwhile, the day continued with some of the most refined fashion houses of the world, including Damir Doma, Gauchère, Rochas and Vionnet amongst many others. Onlookers now badly await the forth-coming days of this French fashion week.
