Maheka Mirpuri hosted a sit down evening with fashion glitterati in a SoBo hotel dedicated to bringing hope & cheer for cancer patients. The 7th edition of the fundraiser under the aegis of her charitable foundation MCan was in aid of the underprivileged cancer patients fighting the deadly disease at Tata Memorial Hospital. The décor for the evening was as grand as the cause it was being organised for. The glitterati showed solidarity to the noble cause by gracing the fundraiser.

While John Abraham was the guest of honour, Sunny Leone was the host for the evening’s proceedings. TV actor Karan Wahi helmed the live auction with the guests bidding for art, watch, jewellery, ensembles & destinations as models walked the ramp to a live Sufi rendition.

An amalgamation of music & fashion, the guests for the evening included  Jackie Shroff, Ramesh Sippy & Kiron Joneja, Preeti Jhangiani, Ritu Shivpuri, Madhoo, Suchitra Krishnamurthi, Mohammad & Lucky Noorani, Raell Padamsee, Schauna Chauhan & Bikram Saluja, Tanaaz & Chirag Doshi, Sudhanshu Pandey amongst others.

Tamana along with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) organised its annual fashion show, titled “My India. My Pride”. Tamana kids with utmost confidence flaunted designs by leading FDCI designers Amit Aggarwal, Anju Modi, Nitin Bal Chauhan, Payal Jain, Reynu Taandon and Samant Chauhan; who painted the runway with hues of inclusivity and effortlessly brought about unity in diversity in its truest form.

 “Fashion is the most potent form of non-verbal communication and this is where we find a synergy with Tamana, it gives a voice to the marginalised. To take this concept forward the Grand Finale of India Fashion Week SS20 has been aptly titled  #MyFashionMyFamily. The hotel, which has been reinvented and reimagined, welcomed 600 guests including celebrities, dignitaries and society guests from London and around the world, including Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group ‘Fans’, Dame Helen Mirren, Liam Neeson, Barry Humphries, Sir Clive Woodward and Vanessa Mae.

Guests arrived on the Red Carpet through the hotel’s coveted Royal Entrance on South Carriage Drive greeted by The London Fanfare Trumpeters and members of The Household Cavalry Regiment, against a backdrop of Union Jack regalia. The atmosphere of pomp and ceremony continued into the Ballroom, with ribbon dancers and entertainers dressed in elaborate costume inspired by the iconic Mandarin ‘Fan’.

Guests sampled a range of delights curated by Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Bar Boulud, London. Further delicacies included Asian bites, Petrossian Caviar and Moët et Chandon Impérial, Brut champagne; to name a few.

The 26th annual event of foundation for aids research, amfAR Gala Cannes 2019, at the fabled Hôtel du Cap on May 23 raised $15 million in support of amfAR’s efforts to develop a cure for HIV.

The event featured performances by Mariah Carey, Sir Tom Jones, Dua Lipa, The Struts, Charli XCX and Austrian tenor Andreas Schager, and a spectacular fashion show curated by Carine Roitfeld. To date, this star-studded event has raised more than $235 million for amfAR’s life-saving research programs and has helped keep the fight against AIDS in the global media spotlight.

The star-studded black-tie event held at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, during the Cannes Film Festival, was presented by Chopard, JOLLYONE, and Young Merry Real International Group.

Event Host Chris Tucker welcomed guests and introduced longtime amfAR supporter and amfAR Ambassador Milla Jovovich, who emphasized that funds raised during the evening directly impact amfAR’s lifesaving research efforts, which are “bringing us closer and closer to a cure.” She then thanked the event’s sponsors for their generosity and welcomed amfAR Chairman of the Board William H. Roedy to the stage.

Roedy shared the staggering fact that in the past year, over one million people died of HIV/AIDS, which remains “the worst pandemic in modern history.” Guests took Mr. Roedy’s words to heart and bid generously in the evening’s live auction, which included a variety of one-of-a kind luxury items and experiences, many of which were introduced by celebrities in the room. Simon de Pury and Aileen Agopian were the auctioneers. Highlights of the auction included Takashi Murakami’s platinum Yume Lion sculpture that sold for $2 million, a Vita electric power boat that sold for $1.2 million, a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Hilandar Monastery on Mount Athos, which sold for $670,000; and a Gualtiero Vanelli marble Mickey Mouse sculpture, which sold for $500,000.

A stunning feature of the evening was the We Can Be Heroes Collection fashion show curated by longtime amfAR supporter Carine Roitfeld. The collection featured one-of-a-kind looks from the world’s most celebrated fashion houses. Participating designers included Balmain, Bosideng, Celine, Chanel, Dior, DSQUARED2, Fendi, Giambattista Valli, Givenchy, Gucci, Loewe, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Off-White, Prada, Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, Versace, and more. The show was accessorized with High Jewelry by Chopard. Some of the world’s top models participated in the runway presentation, including Cindy Bruna, Winnie Harlow, Elsa Hosk, Martha Hunt, Kendall Jenner, Stella Maxwell, Sara Sampaio, Josephine Skriver, and more. The We Can Be Heroes Collection was auctioned off in its entirety for over $1.15 million.

TAG Heuer continued its 50th anniversary celebrations of the Monaco timepiece at the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix, the legendary event that gave the watch its name in 1969, with an exclusive yacht party, unveiling the first of five new collector timepieces inspired by the original Monaco. Five creations of the timepiece will be successively revealed throughout 2019.

Hosted on the TAG Heuer Yacht, moored in the bay of the Principality, the party was attended by Patrick Dempsey, Bella Hadid, Winnie Harlow, Jourdan Dunn, Kai Lenny, Jean-Eric Vergne, Richard Madden and Daniel Bruhl. Guests enjoyed cocktails, evening dinner and a live performance by DJ Bob Sinclair.

Earlier in the morning, invited guests attended a private tour of the Monaco Top Cars Collection Museum including a retrospective exhibition of the Monaco timepiece. This was followed by a track and pit lane tour, F1 qualifying sessions viewing from the exclusive TAG Heuer Lounge and a special debrief of the Grand Prix qualifications with Christian Horner, Team Principal of the Red Bull Racing Formula One team.

The daring and iconic design of the Monaco has made it instantly recognizable. Every aspect of the timepiece’s design was radical and went where no other watch had gone before in terms of design and technology. Not only was the TAG Heuer Monaco the first ever water-resistant square watch, it was also the first to feature an automatic-winding chronograph movement.

In the heart of the fabulous Palazzo Labia, Dior celebrated, together with the Venetian Heritage foundation, its 20th anniversary the “Tiepolo Ball”. Timed to coincide with the opening of the Venice Biennale, the charity dinner and ball, with proceeds going to the restoration and promotion of Venice’s cultural heritage, brought back to life the lavish spirit of the iconic “Ball of the Century” held by Charles de Beistegui in this mythical palace in 1951. 

Christian Dior and Salvador Dalí were among the guests. Together, they designed the costumes for the giants who opened the festivities. Reconnecting with the magic of this legendary ball, Maria Grazia Chiuri for this grand and unique event created, for a handful of personalities and friends of Dior, exclusive designs in collaboration with two Venetian Houses of great renown: Bevilacqua and Rubelli. Precious cloths based on the Fortuny archives were used to dress the tables of the charity dinner. A magical and sparkling performance created by the artist Parolabianca featured dancers and stilt walkers.

These moving tableaux were enhanced by sculptural reflective dresses baptized constellation designed by Italian artist Pietro Ruffo in collaboration with the Artistic Director of Dior’s women’s collections to represent the starry night sky and the 12 signs of the zodiac. The exceptional evening paid tribute to Dior’s heritage and the House’s precious ties with Venice, as well the excellence of a savoir-faire in perpetual movement.

The first Monday of May, saw some of New York’s fashion elites put on their most outrageous outfits for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Benefit exhibit “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” which explores the intersection of fashion and parody, inspired by Susan Sontag’s essay “Notes on Camp.'”

Actor Billy Porter looked like a winged gold Egyptian god carried in on a platform by shirtless men. Singer Janelle Monet went surrealist with a giant eye for a bra and a stack of hats tumbling off her head at the Pink carpet.

Co-Chair and Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele was accompanied on the red carpet by Co-Chair Harry Styles who wore custom Gucci black organza shirt with black lace and organza jabot with high waisted black wool mohair trousers, black patent leather boots, and a single bee earring with cream drop pearl and interlocking G in metal with aged gold finish. He completed his look with a single bee earring with cream drop pearl and interlocking G in metal with aged gold finish, 14kt yellow gold H and S letter rings, a Le Marché des Merveilles Ring with feline head in 18kt yellow gold, aged sterling silver, rubies, blue topaz and pearl and a Le Marché des Merveilles Lionhead ring in 18kt yellow gold, amethyst and diamonds.

While Deepika Padukone wore a custom Zac Posen dress for the “Camp: Notes on Fashion” theme. The medium pink gown trailed behind Padukone as she strutted on the event’s matching pink carpet. Posen enlisted the help of engineers to craft more than 400 3D-printed embroidery pieces for the gown.

Priyanka Chopra with husband Nick Jonas attended the first Met Gala as a married couple dressed in Dior.The actress was style by Mimi Cutrell wore a sheer silver gown with coloured ruffled feathers and a crown. While her singer husband chose to wear white tuxedo.

As for the red carpet Kangana Ranaut, will travel for the alcohol brand Grey Goose and will be there from 16-18 May. “Following an exhilarating debut last year at the Cannes Film Festival, I am looking forward to representing Indian cinema at such a prestigious platform with the global icon of luxury yet again. I made many lifelong memories, inclusive of both big and small moments,” she said in the statement.

L’oreal representative Deepika Padukone will be walking the red carpet on 16 May while Sonam Kapoor will appear on 20-21 May. However, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is rumoured to scorch the French Riviera on 19 May.

His latest celebration was an intimate ten course fusion Bengali luncheon, specially created by internationally renowned Chef Sujan Sarkar at the capital’s hottest new restaurant, Rooh on the occasion of Bengali New Year.

The collection titled Calcutta 1964, looks to wardrobes of heroines from Satyajit Ray’s cinema in the 1960’s. Pure zari stripes in silver and gold interplay with feminine floral prints in a refreshing summer palette of mint green, lemon yellow, powder blue, nude and ivory. “I grew up watching films like Charulata, Mahangar, Jalshaghar with my grandmother, and little did I know their cinematography and costumes would have such a lasting impression on me.

The magical Sunday afternoon was charismatically presented with beautifully incased installations showing the latest offering by the designer, which was well supplemented with rare comestibles food which made for a lilting, summery Bengali afternoon. The afternoon was attended by the crème de la crème of Delhi’s social and fashion glitterati. Sipping on their Santorinis, the clients enjoyed a phantasmagorical shopping experience overlooking the breezy Arabian Sea aboard a cruiser docked at Bandra-Worli Sealink.
