The Storytellers, a Delhi-based Public Relation agency, recently celebrated its 3rd anniversary at Club Czar in New Delhi.

The evening witnessed Nikhil Kumar, the owner of the agency, along with Rohit Bal and Pallavi Mohan, opening champagne bottles to mark the three year anniversary prior to cake cutting ceremony. While all and sundry were seen grooving to the tunes of hit peppy commercial hits by the in-house DJ’s Ishu & Piyush of the Band Nyu ‘n’Tum.

Ekaya Store Launch in DelhiA bit of Benaras came alive in Delhi recently when father-daughter duo Bharat & Palak Shah hosted an evening to launch Ekaya at Defence Colony.

A bespoke evening celebrating the rich Benarasi textile heritage in contemporary setting had an array of Benarasi saris, lehangas and other creations on display at this 2000square feet store.

Ceramic pots adorned with Mogras and flickering stained glass candles paved the way for the guests to witness a unique experience of Banaras. Raw silk settees were offset by vibrant spiral murals and accentuated by centre table displays of Gulaal and Chameli in earthen clay jars.

The event saw the glam brigade of the city raising the fashion stakes at the launch. The attendees included Aparna Chandra, Anju Modi, Rakesh Thakore, Naveen Ansal, Pernia Qureshi, Indrani Das Gupta, Harmeet Bajaj, Simar Duggal, Raseel Gujral, Sujata Assomull Sippy, Vidyun Singh, Vidushi & Reema Mehra, Mayank Mansingh Kaul, Bim Bissel, Sanjay Bhattacharya and Saba Ali amongst others.

For Women by WomenFor the cause of women empowerment a stylish design extravaganza Design One was recently organized by Sahchari Foundation at Mumbai’s World Trade Center.

A Coffee Morning Preview was hosted, for select guests to view and shop from amongst the latest in festive fashion, lifestyle products, kidswear, home accessories and pet products created by the likes of Masaba Gupta, Atsu Sekhose, Madhu Shah, Laila Motwane and many others.

The fundraising extravaganza saw a host of illustrious names of the city indulging in shopping. The attendees included Neerja Birla, Shabana Azmi, Amrita Puri, Madhoo Shah, Aneesa Dhody Mehta, Tanaaz Doshi, Dilshad Khambata, Nisha Jamwval, Namita Saraf, Sangeeta Assomull, Tina Tahiliani, Seema Mehrohtra, Anish Trivedi, Champa Doshi, Ananya Goenka, Deveika Bhojwani, Kaushika Hemdev, Kiran Datwani, Monami Roy, Namita Kuruvilla, Neena Gupta, Nayantara Thacker, Mala Hemnani, Pratima Bhatia, Pooja Advani, Kalpana Shah, Shibani Agarwal, Sunaina Puri and Laila Mallya amongst others.

Absolut SethThe versatile author Vikram Seth came to reveal his bent towards paints and brushes when he showcased a set of three paintings he created for Absolut Vodka at Cheri, One Qutab in New Delhi, recently.

A polyglot, poet, calligrapher, musician, sculptor, and now a painter, Vikram Seth showed his genius by painting the motif of Absolut bottle with colors, poetry and soul on the canvas. Three different colours, three different languages, three different rasas, and three different thought processes came together in perfect rhythm to create the paintings.

An artwork with red background features Chinese calligraphy meaning, “Vikram Seth Wrote this in Delhi” while the other painting in Green is done in Devanagari. The third one features “Na Main Na Mai” written in Urdu in gold color on blue background.

Speaking about the association, Vikram Seth said, “In the last few years I have spent much more time doing art in one form or the other than writing; for some reason, I have had a visual obsession. So when I was approached to do something with this iconic shape, I wondered whether I would find it constraining to use it. In fact I found it neither constraining nor liberating as such, but quite inspiring.”

The unveiling of the paintings was attended by few of the illustrious names in the city including Nida Mahmood, Shweta Nanda, Ramola Bachchan, Paresh Maiti, Vikram Baidyanath and Siddharth Sanghvi amongst others. 
 
Design Melange at Atosa Atosa, an eclectic multi-designer store recently hosted a preview to showcase the collections of Kallol Dutta, Mayank & Shraddha, DL 1961 Jeans and Jewellery by Vijeta Ramchandani of Raya, at Khar in Mumbai.

Winter 2012 by Kallol Dutta contained 4 print stories – ‘Dismembered Fingers’, ‘The Free Copyright Series’, ‘Birds Morphing into Bats’ and the ‘Mating Snails Series’. Most of the prints were based on notions of beauty in society today. A 54 piece collection mixed and matched, created looks which had detailed construction techniques, closures and forms in wool, silk, leather and cotton. Colours had been used abundantly and form an important role in graphic relief.

In contrast, "Raya" unveiled a line of jewellery that was in sync with the design ethos of the Atosa.  The collection demarcated into four ranges – Florals, Chains, Leather and Stones featured large semi-precious stones juxtaposed with punk rock chains and leather while DL 1961 by Mala Hemnani brought to the fore a range of perfectly-fitted, comfortable and stylish denims.
On the occasion Aparna Badlani of Atosa said, “This new season at Atosa is as exciting as it is versatile and colourful, with a special focus on structure and silhouettes. We offer a shopping experience par excellence.”

The preview was attended by who’s who of the city including Gauri Pohoomul, Shalini Shahani, Kunika Singh, Sheeba, Priya Bhimani, Himashi Choudhary, Swati Shetty, Sona Mahapatra, Nisha Jamwval and Sonal Sehgal amongst others.
 
Evolv + Cue Pret CollectionLately, the designer duo Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna of Cue collaborated with multi-designer boutique Evolv to launch an exclusive limited edition pret collection called, “The theatre of illusions” at Evolv’s store at DLF Promenade, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.

The collection drawing inspiration from linear structures and geometrical lines is a blend of colors like berry, coral, and indigo with darker hues like black and grey, reflecting the design sensibilities of the designer duo. The silhouettes are mostly fitted and structured while the garments are finished with hand-crafted metal detailing like sheer fabrics and layering.

About their tie-up with the store, the designer duo said, “The concept and ideology of the store really excited us. Weather it was the focus to the youth or the mix of different designers.  We fell for it immediately. The eclectic and edgy store has thumbs up from our end. Rightly called “V love””.

The womenswear is priced between Rs 3850 – Rs 14500 whereas men’s collection is available in the range of Rs 2450 – Rs 3450. The collection is in the stores till October 31, 2012.
The collection is a very first of the offerings of Evolv’s work in progress which will see the store collaborating with some of India’s leading and upcoming designers to present the fashion and designs that are affordable yet stylish.

Divine Moments by Raghu RaiVacheron Constantin, the world’s oldest Swiss Haute Horlogerie announced its association with Tasveer in India with the exhibition ‘DIVINE MOMENTS’, by Raghu Rai at the Stainless Art Gallery in New Delhi.

The unique and interactive exhibition lay out at the inauguration evoked the onlooker’s senses of taste, touch, see, hear and smell to experience and delve deeper into the ‘DIVINE MOMENTS’ of the select photographs.

The Exhibition was abuzz with Raghu Rai’s work and his presence among VIP’s and socialites Kalyani Chawla, Dilip Cherian, Simar Duggal, H.E. Dr. Linus von Castelmur, Ambassador of Switzerland to India, H.E Nancy Jo Powell, Ambassador of United States to India, Anoop Mehta, Dr Jyotindra Jain (Indian art and cultural historian, and museologist), Mr. Christian Selmoni: Art Director Vacheron Constantin were spotted enjoying the photography and watches.

 The exhibition will be ongoing from September 14th-25th, 2012 in New Delhi and thereafter the complete range of photographs from the exhibition will travel across the Tasveer and its partner galleries in Mumbai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad
 
Paul Smith in MumbaiThe Paul Smith Mumbai showroom welcomed innumerable guests to celebrate its opening and the unveiling of the new Autumn Winter 2012 collection. 

Hosted by Vinod Mirchandani and Sonal Bhatia, brand manager Paul Smith India, the evening saw a wide cross section of Mumbai’s crème de la creme across the fields of fashion, design, hospitality, finance and industry.

The guests included Varun Bahl, Sarah Jane Dias, Harpreet Bawja, Narender Kumar, Acquin Pais, Rina Shah, Trey Costa, Paul Graham(RBS), Parag Shah (HSBC), Avi Mittal(Mittal Builders), Nicky Bedi(Yellow Tree Café).
 
Fashion for a CauseSahchari Foundation , an all women’s trust hosted a sneak preview of the “Design One” shopping extravaganza on Monday at Mumbai’s latest hotspot “Umame”  in order to raise funds for deserving NGO’s and recognize the extraordinary creativity of talented designers. Present to showcase their creation on muses were designers like Surily Goel who dressed Tanaaz Doshi and Gauri Pohoomul of Sahchari  Foundation.  

Also present at the High Tea event was actress Shahzan Padamsee who looked stunning in her Masaba Gupta creation along with the equally radiant Perizad Zorabian who was donning a Laila Motwane pink & yellow sari. Other guests included actress Tara Sharma and Anushka Rajan and others were seen relishing an array of  Dimsums , Teas , Mocktails. 
Ekru Store Launch in KolkataThe Kolkata based fashion label Ekru by Ekta & Ruchira saw the unveiling of its second flagship store in the city of Kolkata lately.

The store launch came with showcasing of the couture collection of Ekta & Ruchira featuring traditional Indian silhouettes like kalidar, angrakha, lehanga and choli with twist. Rich fabrics like brocade, velvet, silk and benarasi weaves are intertwined together with embellishments, textures and detailing.

The store is around 3000 square feet and is aesthetically done up by renowned sculptor, Narayan Sinha. His installations share the rail space with Ekru’s creations. Moreover, the store is adorned by antiquated photographs, mirrors, urns sketches, chandeliers, benches, lamps and urns.

The evening saw the famous dancer Tanusree Shankar lighting the lamps. The event was well attended by who’s who of the city including Madhu Neotia, Shalini Karnani, Designer duo Dev R Nil, Designer Sharbari Dutta, Preeti Aggarwal, Swaroop Dutta and many more.
