The long-awaited inauguration ceremony of the 60th edition of the Taormina Film Festival saw international stars walking the red carpet with the style and elegance that only Maserati is able to provide.

The always divine Claudia Cardinale, who got herself the Taormina Arte Award, was one of the many celebrities who opened the film festival. Other actresses of this edition celebrating its 60th anniversary, which pays special homage to women, had Bo Derek, Melanie Griffith, Eva Longoria and Paz Vega, the list of stars also includes prominent male stars of international cinema: Ben Stiller, Matt Dillon and many others.

For this year’s London Collection Mens, leading british brand Superdry teamed up with the British Fashion Council to celebrate the start of London Collections: Men on Saturday by co-hosting an exclusive party on the eve of the three-day fashion event.

At its first-ever London Collections: Men showcase, Superdry presented a tailoring collaboration with four unique characters introduced via a 1960s-inspired set. The second appearance in January 2014 took the brand to the catwalk, where tribes of Superdry-clad models marched. The night culminated in a party headlined by London Collections: Men ambassador, Nick Grimshaw.

Stella McCartney took everybody to a mesmerising fantasy world for showcasing her Resort Wear collection. Held at Manhattan’s Elizabeth Street Garden, McCartney accompanied the display of her collection along with her own personalised add-ons like human statues, a bossa nova band, and sprite like models frolicking between the ferns in her designs to name a few.

With the event, McCartney took steps forward for her parties for resort to become a full-fledged tradition, where this year’s celebration seemed influenced by the designer’s collaboration with Disney, for a capsule collection inspired by Angelina Jolie’s ‘Maleficent’.

Participating at the celebration, gracing the evening with presence were glitterati people like Liv Tyler, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Amber Heard, Lucy Liu, Jessica Seinfeld and Cara Delevingne, artists Kara Walker and Jeff Koons; the photographers Nan Goldin, Peter Beard and Marilyn Minter, and the musician Aluna Francis among others.

Vero Moda reached the fashion enthusiasts of Delhi by opening a sprawling two storied store at Khan Market. Spread across an impressive 2400 Sq ft, the store gives the customers an inviting, distinct and stylish fashion experience. The white interiors and the classy fixtures and flooring redefine the concept of shopping by highlighting the various looks that the brand puts together every season.

In a glamorous event, the store was inaugurated by the stunning Nargis Fakhri along with top models Surily Joseph, Noyonika Chatterjee, Sapna Kumar, Indrani Dasgupta and Tamara Moss.

A tribute to the late musician, film director, writer, photographer and a revolutionary activist, Gordon Parks Foundation awards gala this year honoured Vera Wang, Irvin Mayfield, Lorna Simpson, Ed Zwick, George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, who also got the opportunity to mesmerise themselves with Parks’ excellent pieces of art works.

Speaking of the awardees, Vera Wang was privileged with the Designer Award while Lorna Simpson won the artist award, Mellody Hobson and George Lucas won the prestigious Patron of the Arts award among others.

These awards are specifically given to artists, designers and fashionistas who take inspiration from Parks’ ideology and goals and employ generative methods to influence the next generation with them.

Meanwhile, the major fund raisers for the foundation enlist Karlie Kloss, Chrissy Teigen, Federica Marchionni, Soledad O’Brien and Huma Abedin among others. The event this year was able to raise more than $1 million, all of which will enable the Foundation to intensify its educational scholarship programs and make its works available to schools, museums and communities around the world.

Lately Gucci celebrated the launch of its long-awaited make up line, Gucci Cosmetics, with a private cocktail party in honor of Charlotte Casiraghi, hosted by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini, at The Carlyle hotel.

The collection includes Gucci Eye, Gucci Face, Gucci Lip, Gucci Nail and preparation products for the skin.“For me, beauty and fashion are always connected. One doesn’t exist without the other. Make up is a key element of the Gucci runway show – it helps communicate the essence of the Gucci woman. Eyes, skin, lips – they’re like accessories, all working together to create an unmistakable look,” said Frida Giannini.

PVR Cinemas celebrated the signing up of its 1,000th member with the a fashion show by designer Kushali Kumar. The designer presented the occasion wear, which had a collection of ballroom and evening gowns inspired by the spring flower varieties in France, a theme reminiscent of Mistral’s Fresh and Simple motto.

Kushali Kumar who is known to design unique pieces for international celebrities such as Shakira, Justin Bieber, Melanie Brown and many more, had her entire collection travels back to the mysterious and stylish era of the 1920’s in Europe which provides a Cinematic Experience to the audience. Directors Cut philosophy of believing in par excellence service and world class experience is truly carried forth by the collection through all means.”

 

DVAR, the multi-designer House of Fashion hosted an exclusive preview of couture wear, designed by Anju Modi.

Gracing with their presence, present at the event were some of the avant-garde people of the fashion world including some Bollywood celebrities. Among others, shining bright like a diamond was Sonal Chauhan, attired in a glamorous light grey, deep-back gown studded with blue embroidery.

The event marked the arrival of Anju Modi’s collection at this multi designer luxury store as well a showcase of the designer’s latest bridal wear collection.

Montblanc honored acclaimed film producer Jane Rosenthal with the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award at the Stephan Weiss Studio in New York City to celebrate her passion and commitment for arts and culture.

Rosenthal joined the prestigious ranks of past Montblanc de la Culture winners, which include entertainment pioneers like Quincy Jones and Yoko Ono to philanthropic royals like HRH Charles Prince of Wales and Queen Sofia of Spain.

For the past 23 years the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award has celebrated the work of outstanding private patrons of the global arts community who are recognized for their committed and continuous philanthropic activism.

This year the American jury was comprised of iconic fashion designer Prabal Gurung, publishing legend Christopher Forbes and prominent actor Anthony Mackie choose 12 winners from a shortlist of 36 nominees.

Fashionably Connected is a networking platform created to connect professionals in the fashion community through panel discussions on, the impact of global fashion trends on the Indian fashion scenario.

Fashionably Connected will allow designers to meet with suppliers, fashion media with fashion brands, students with professionals, producers with customers regularly.

Hosted at The White Owl, the discussion had fashion designer Nachiket Barve, Aparna Badlani and Mehernaz Dhondy, in the presence of select group comprising movers and shakers of the fashion industry, which included Designers Mayank and Shraddha, Vito Dell’erba, Amith Dholakia, Radha Kapoor, Jasmine Sarupria, along with models and fashion media.
