Atul & Gayatri Ruia played hosts to the opening of Art Guild House, at LBS Road, Kurla. Guests walked into the state of the art foyer that beautifully showcased artworks and installations, the  first structure of its kind that serves as a commercial building and a gallery space.

At Art Guild House we would like to offer an unmatched ambience that seamlessly blends design & functionality with Art. We have commissioned some of the country’s best known names to create the first series of works of Jiten Thukral and Sumer Tagra, Shilpa Gupta, Narendra Yadav, Sunil Gawde, Justin Ponmany, curated by Usha Gawde, says Gayatri Ruia.

Seen enjoyed playing table tennis on the state of the art tables designed by Thukral & Tagra were Chhaya Momaya, Kunika Singh, Rouble Nagi, Aarti & Kailash Surendranath, Rashmi Nigam, ELina Meswani, Mayank Ruia  as well artists who are a part of Art Guild House.

Lately Mumbai witnessed an explosion of fashion, film, femininity, as Mrs. Pamela Chopra and Ms. Sanya Dhir hosted the launch of the flagship store of DIVA’NI.

The soiree was a mega affair as it celebrated the homecoming of a fashion label exploded out of Indian cinema’s DNA. The gala launch was well attended by the who’s who of tinsel town Rani Mukerji, Parineeti Chopra , Alia Bhatt, Kiran Rao, Arjun Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput, Ankita Lokhande, Poonam Dhillon to name a few.

Mod’ Art International hosted its annual passing out fashion show ‘A La Mode, 2014’ at Elysee hall, The Suryaa, New Friends Colony.

The glittering graduating showcase choregraphed by Ketan Bhatia had 48 individual pieces of exotic collections namely Parable O Castle, Archaic au Courant, Resurrection of the medieval, Spring Umbrella and Flurry Gust.

An ideal platform for leading design talent, A La Mode 2014 had stylist Rishi Raj and designer Shivali Misra , Mr. Patrice De Place, President, Mod’ Art International Paris, and former director Christian Dior and Celine (LVMH Group), judging the event.

The high powered night was graced by prominent faces including Designers Raakesh Agarvwal, Sonia Jetleey, Josh Goraya, Shaine Soni, Amit Talwar, Industrialist Vikrum Baidyanath, Ex Big Boss Contestant and Yoga Guru Vivek Mishra, Socialites Poonam Sharma, Sona Goyal, Sunaina Chibba, Tanya Kapoor, Arpita Bansal, Shruti Sharma, Twinkle Vinayak, Vedika Sharma, Entrepreneurs Nikhil Kumar, Julie Deb, Harsheen Arora, Artist Vipul Amar, Beauty Expert Dr. Varun Katyal, Hair & Make up Expert Sylvie, Kaajee, Choreographer Ketan Bhatia, Celebrity Stylist Rishi Raj, Models Andrea, Reka, Ritu amongst others.

Now home to a trio of exhibitions Paris exhibits three centuries of French history, styles and fashions:

  • “Joséphine” at the Musée du Luxembourg  crowned as Empress of France ,has been assigned the role of “an ambassador” in charge of promoting luxury “Made in France.”
    “She wore three to four different dresses a day and rarely wore the same dress twice,” said Alain Pougetoux, the exhibition’s curator.

    Joséphine’s preferred tailor was Hippolyte Leroy, who supplied her with dresses embellished with embroideries, pearls, rubies and diamonds, some of which are on display here.

• “From Watteau to Fragonard” at the Musée Jacquemart-Andre through July 21: Showcases 18th-century France people dressed with intent, and clothes delivered a message; it was all about presentation and self-definition.”

The fetes galantes coincided with a strong period in the French textile industry, as Chantilly lace and Lyon silk were in abundance. Watteau was so fond of the most conspicuous dress of the epoch, a lavishly draped gown with a box pleat in the back, that it henceforth became known as the “Watteau dress.”

• “Paris 1900” at the Petit Palais until Aug. 17: The exhibition gives a glimpse of the early days of couture as well as the dynamic Art Nouveau movement, which quickly transitioned from art and interiors to fashion and jewelry.

Lately who’s who of the city witnessed a passing of the baton in honor of Brigitte Lefèvre, director of dance at the Paris National Opera, by Vacheron Constantin. The company performed a ballet by George Balanchine featuring costumes by Christian Lacroix, and “Daphnis et Chloe,” by Benjamin Millepied, who will replace Lefèvre next November.

To sum up the evening we saw French culture minister Aurélie Filippetti; Juan-Carlos Torres, chief executive officer of Vacheron Constantin; Maryvonne Pinault, wife of François Pinault; architect Bernard Tschumi, and former culture minister Jack Lang amongst many others.

NIFT Mumbai is all set to provide the industry a fresh group of young and talented professionals, to celebrate the successful completion of its 2014 batch, the institute organized a day long programme at National Center for Performing Arts (NCPA) on 25th May, 2014.

The celebration commenced with the Convocation of the graduating batch of 2014, with seminar by the graduating students and exhibitions – “Infinite Ideas” and “Tantu”, the display of creative work of graduating students of Fashion Communication and Textile Design respectively.

The grand finale Graduation Show – “Fashionova” by the graduates of the Fashion Design department and “Knitmoda” by the Knitwear Design graduates was choreographed by Mr. Elric D’souza. The creative ensembles designed and executed by the students were showcased by Alicia Raut, Candice Pinto, Deepti Gujral, Kavita Kharayat, Sucheta Sharma, Nikki Das, Parul Chaudhary, Rupali Suri, Surabhi Prabhu, and Priyanka Shah alongwith male models Nitin Singh, Shahnawaz, Shaiz, Ubaid and Pradeep .

The annual amfAR’s 21st Cinema against AIDS Gala was held at Eden Roc Hotel in Cap d’Antibes    and was attended by the glitterati of the cinema world showing their support for the cause.

Spotted at the event were celebrities like Kelly Preston, John Travolta, Andrea Bocelli, Michele Rodriguez, Victoria Silvstedt and Ana Beatriz Barros attired in the lavish AVAKIAN jewellery.

Also seen were L’Oréal Paris ladies Aishwarya Rai, Natasha Poly, Bianca Balti, Barbara Palvin, Lara Stone and Jane Fonda, who gracefully posed together and lit the red carpet. Ash’s marvellous glittery cream gown along with the hot red lipstick, light green eye shadow, Chopard jewellery and sequined clutch were all breath taking.

Among others, Marion Cotillard, Jane Fonda, Liu Wen, Eva Herzigova and Kristina Bazan were also seen boasting off their gorgeous Chopard’s diamond studded accessories, and mesmerising designer gowns.

The gala was truly the ebb and flow of glamour, luxury and beauty, for a worthy cause.

In the third installation of Hermes’ ‘World of Women’ exhibition, the brand organises a one of a kind exciting carnival to showcase the latest collections scarves, leather goods, and clothes.

Innovatively, the showcase of the brand’s luxury bags was accompanied with a choreographed dance performance. Whereas, the swimsuits and the brand’s very indulgent scarves were presented by a well-planned and synchronised swim-number.

Similarly, in the best possible way, the bangles were exhibited by the bartenders serving champagne at the bar.

Among the other attractions of the festivity, a horse racing game was set up along with some enthralling photo booths with ponies, which also featured some more Hermes scarves. Seen posing on the same were celebrities like Matha Stewart.

Held at 23 Wall Street, the exhibition was truly entertaining, inspiring and individualistic.

Fashion Designer and stylist Sonaakshi Raaj unveiled her sari fiesta for Heropanti releasing on Friday, 23rd May, 2014.

The Heropanti collection is reminiscent of Kriti’s look from the movie. The range also includes Sonaakshi Raaj’s beautiful and glamorous evening gowns and sari-gowns in fiery shades of reds, oranges, yellows etc. adhering to the fire theme of Zoya jewellery.
