She is the one with the strong resolve. Hailing from London she says she loves doing household chores. Shuttling between UK and India, she has been in this industry for just over a year. Living in Delhi, she is the official model for the Wills Fashion Week; she has walked the ramp for almost every Indian designer you can think of.  She is most happy spending time with those who are closest to her; her family and friends. However, she is a passionate traveler and loves getting out and about, travelling and meeting new people.

The most alluring part of this industry to her is that every day she wakes up it is a new day and there is something new to do. She enjoys the nature of the work. Modeling is a great way to meet new people and interesting people. We caught her between and editorial shoot and the Kolkata Fashion Week and got her talking about her life and her work. Meet the London cum Delhi girl, Rebbeca Tyagi.

Family and Academics…
I come from a very close family who are mostly in London. Dad has been travelling with work for years which has meant a lot of travel for me growing up, and he is currently working in Kenya. My schooling has been in the UK, then South Africa and then back to boarding school in the UK. I did my university studies in Bristol.

Parent’s reaction to your choice of modeling as a career…
My parents are happy with my modeling. I am fortunate to have such a loving family who, as long as I am happy and healthy, are happy too.

First modeling assignment…
My first assignment was a preview for Sabyasachi Mukherjee in a store in Delhi.

Greatest achievement till date…
I would say that moving here and setting up on my own has been quite a substantial achievement in my life so far.

Idea of an ideal date
Honestly I wouldn’t say I have a dream ideal date scenario. A connection with the person I am with is more important to me than what the surroundings have to offer.

When not modeling what are you most likely to be found doing…
If I’m not working I’m most likely to be with friends or out and about shopping. As I grew up travelling a lot, it has developed into a passion. If I have enough time I’d probably try and make a travel plan.

Five essentials for a model to climb the ladder of success…
Not in any order, I’d say they have to keep a clear head and stay focused. They should remain real and not let success change them. They should look after themselves and live a healthy life style. Don’t take things personally in this industry.

Views on Indian vs. Western models…
I’m no one to categorize so easily. One thing about modeling in India is that the modeling life here is longer, which is great. Overseas ages becomes too black and white, whereas here, girls that have been modeling for years are still doing so and still look amazing in their work.

The most touching moment of your life…
Most touching moment was when my little sister was born just over a year ago. Truly Amazing!!!

YOUR PIECE OF ADVICE FOR UPCOMING MODELS: As I said earlier, don’t take things personally in this industry. It is important to realize that some jobs you will get, and some you won’t. Everyone has their own look and although that look might not suit one job, it might be perfect for the next.

Be strong not only in terms of accepting not getting selected, but in terms of what might be said to you. In any career, anywhere in the world, one always needs positive and negative feedback. It may seem hard in this industry because the comments are so much more personal, be it to do with your walk, your weight, your attitude, but these are the essentials of this work. Negative feedback is in fact a positive thing and it is important to remember that!

Let us introduce you to a fresh face in the industry, who walked into the fashion scene an year and a half ago. She defines herself as a simple Delhi girl. Not much of a romantic. She believes in living life everyday to the fullest and giving her best shot at everything that comes her way. Her philosophy in life is that everything happens for a good reason. A sport at taking rejection she thinks that behind everything in life there is a positive intention.

She has shot for Abrahim and Thakore, AMPM, Blenders Pride and Déjà Vu. She has been part of a lot ad campaigns like Dabur Gulabari and also for Videocon with Shahrukh and Dhoni. She is a dog person with a pug of her own. She is the new and exciting and currently single model, Prerna Sharma.

Family and Academics…
I was born in UP though I was brought up here in Delhi and did my schooling from St. George and my grads from Kamla Nehru College, Delhi University itself.

Parent’s reaction to your choice of modeling as a career…
My parents have been very supportive from the very beginning of my career. I went through the right channels for achieving my goals. My parents trusted Elite and so they were pretty reassured and happy for my choice of career.

First modeling assignment…
My first modeling assignment after I had signed up with Elite was a TGIF show.

Greatest achievement till date…
I would say that my greatest achievement was when I won this contest for Elite Model Look in 2008. I went on to represent India after that in China too, that was one of my most invigorating and exciting experience ever. I got to interact with other models that were representing different countries. In all it was one of my greatest achievements ever being a part of it all.

Idea of an ideal date
I am not exactly a very romantic person, so none of that candlelight dinners for me. Rather I would like to chill with my partner at home, may be watch a movie and have some good food. Something more homely and chilled out.

When not modeling what are you most likely to be found doing…
Well , I’m a trained Kathak dancer and have been learning it for over ten years now. I have also a learned a bit of belly dancing and jazz for a while. So my favorite past time is dancing definitely.

Five essentials for a model to climb the ladder of success…
• Fit body
• Different looking personality
• Good attitude
• Camera friendly
• Professional

Views on Indian vs. Western models…
I think Indian models are a little different looking. They tend to more voluptuous. Western models usually all look the same on the ramp. They have a similar built and tend to be leaner. Apart from that both Indian and western models are professional when it comes to work.

The most touching moment of your life…
I suppose the most touching moment of my life was when my younger brother was born. I was a small kid barely five at that time and all my friends had siblings and I also wanted one of my own. So when my younger brother was born that was indeed one of my happiest and most touching moments in my life.

The jury at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week today announced the names of the 10 most talented Indian, new female models who were shortlisted from the second round of model auditions .

The second round of model auditions went a step further by expanding the ground for participation, where FDCI, for the first time ever, handpicked applicants from colleges, universities and through a rigorous digital campaign on Facebook.

These tenacious ramp scorchers were chosen and tested on various physical and attitudinal attributes. In the ‘quest for the best’, the FDCI organized two rounds of model auditions, where models from across the country were judged by industry experts like Ashish Soni, Anjana Bhargav, Vinod Nair, Rahul Khanna, Niki Mahajan, Aparna Bahl, Payal Jain and Asha Kochhar.

It is not in her nature to be part of controversies or hurt the feelings of another soul.

She likes to generate that aura of positivity that leads her towards her work and for the good fun in life. Meet the girl who tries to shrink away from idle chatter and loose talk but loves to hang out with her friends and family. She is the Delhite, Aanchal Oberoi.

Family and Academics…
I was born and brought up in New Delhi and I’m still staying here with my family. I have done my schooling from Bluebells International, New Delhi.

Parent’s reaction to your choice of modeling as a career…
My parents were not conservative at all to my choice of career, rather they were quite liberal. They believed in my decision and stood by my choice. They wanted their children to have the freedom to choose their line of work and adopt the profession they want to follow. All through my career they have always been very supportive and motivated me to do everything to the best of my abilities.

First modeling assignment…
My first modeling assignment was with the designers Tarun Tahiliani and Satyapaul doing their catalogue shoot.

Greatest achievement till date…
I am still very young and have a long way ahead of me so no great achievements for me yet, just small milestones on my journey.

Idea of an ideal date
I would go for the old time romantics. For me an ideal date would be a candle light dinner sitting by the beach with nice soothing music and a good looking, decent and well spoken guy for company.

When not modeling what are you most likely to be found doing…
If not modeling I am basically chilling. I just love doing the regular things like hanging out with family and friends, watching movies, shopping and visiting new places.

Five essentials for a model to climb the ladder of success…
. Discipline and hard work
. Commitment and loyalty
. Honesty and dedication
. Self confidence
. Patience

Views on Indian vs. Western models…
I think Indian models are blessed with sharp features; great bodies and beautiful skin .They are also far more versatile and have greater adapting abilities than their foreign counterparts.

The most touching moment of your life…
I don’t have one such moment to tell…I feel it’s just so touching to watch my parents shower so much unconditional love on me each and every day of my life..

A sweet face with an innocent voice, Arshia Ahuja still in college, she is knocking on the doors of the fashion industry. With only seven months in the fashion world, she has done a lot of editorials for some well known names like Elle, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Men’s health and walked the ramp for Wills and the Kolkatta Fashion Week.

Talking to her you will be swayed away by her girly charm. The way she talks about her college life, hanging out with friends and being a tomboy. Going for movies and back to all her favorite haunts. She is not looking at life to give her more; rather she is patiently sitting and waiting for it to come at its own pace and give her all she deserves. She plans to study Mythology some day. However right now she is all into the new world of glamour. Presenting to you, the new face, Arshia Ahuja.

Family and Academics…

Well I don’t exactly belong to any city…my dad was in the army, so we moved around a lot. However I studied in Pune all along and I’m doing my Bachelors in Commerce from Symbiosis Pune.

Parent’s reaction to your choice of modeling as a career…

They were pretty much alright with my decision. I’m still in my second year of college and living with my mom and dad and my brother is here in Delhi. So they are fine with my line of work.

First modeling assignment…

My first assignment was a beauty shoot for Marie Claire for their May Anniversary issue last year.

Greatest achievement till date…

Well my experience in this industry is for a time span of just seven months. I think my greatest achievement is yet to come.

Idea of an ideal date

Well I will say that I’m quiet enchanted with old time romantics. My date bringing me flowers, and asking me on one knee for a dance…something as romantic as that.

When not modeling what are you most likely to be found doing…
I’m still doing my bachelors in Commerce in Pune, so in my spare time I try to squeeze in some studies. As a matter of fact, you just caught me right now in the middle of studying accounts.

I use to play the piano. It is something I haven’t been able to get my hands on for some time now.

Five essentials for a model to climb the ladder of success…
. Commitment
. Patience
. Acceptance that you can’t get through every audition
. Hard work
. A polite attitude
Views on Indian vs. Western models…

I think models working abroad have to face a lot of competition. Also they have to be physically very lean and thin. In India we at least don’t have to kill ourselves to be models. Here in India we need a toned body not a malnourished one.

The most touching moment of your life…

I still have a lot of moments coming my way. I don’t seem to remember any particular emotional moment right now.
