The last stroke of mascara and her eyes glow as she waits for her love…

‘Shringara’ signifies an alluring atmosphere, revelled in love. It is a story of a modern woman, adorning herself as she waits for her love to arrive.

The collection beautifully captures the musings of a woman and her evocative thoughts, as she journeys through the dark forests- her love is one of immense trepidation.

For SS17, the Rocky Star label celebrates love, manifested in decorative prints featuring handcrafted textures and opulent embroideries. The colour palette enhances the feeling of joy and fear in shades of soft grey, mysterious forest greens and light pastels. Voluminous dramatic silhouettes and flattering cuts join together in a coalition of beauty and drama. Soft, fluid georgettes and chiffons highlight the romanticism in the collection.

Set at Chatsworth, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, the Gucci Cruise 2017 campaign is a celebration of quintessentially British culture.

The images capture a group of characters in the grounds and interior of Chatsworth, surrounded by chickens and dogs; these grungy young people interact with the animals playfully, their punk attitudes juxtaposed with the grandiose, stately surroundings.

From late ’70s punk youth subculture to beautiful landscape gardens, Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele citesBritish culture as a source of constant inspiration. This is evident in the campaign images, where young punkish characters appear alongside acclaimed British actress Vanessa Redgrave, painting an eclectic portrait of the British spirit and marking the start of Gucci’s three-year cultural partnership with Chatsworth.

Burberry unveiled its first straight to consumer collection at Makers House, its new show venue at the heart of Soho, London.

The runway which spanned across three rooms painted in dusty hues of pink, green and yellow, echoing the colour palette of the collection. The walls were kept bare, nodding to the past and to the people who had inhabited the building before.

The origins of the new men’s and women’s collections, which were shown together for the first time, are found in the spirit of Nancy Lancaster’s interior and garden designs and Virginia Woolf’s novel ‘Orlando’.

Inspired by a reflection on the way a house changes its character over the centuries driven by the people, clothes and cultures that inhabit it, the collection combines noble and authentic fabrics, blending denim and sweat shirting with cashmere and pyjama silks.

It blurs masculine and feminine, casual and formal, night and day, all mixed together to create a new reality born of all the moments that have gone before.

2

Highlights from the collection include deconstructed trench coats, regimental capes, coats and jackets (including The Cavalry Jacket, The Military Tailcoat and The Parade Jacket), waisted field jackets (including The Floral Field Jacket), pea coats, pyjama-style trousers, shirts and shorts, and ruffle-neck shirts.

The Bridle Bag, is a new runway design for men and women, which takes its inspiration from classic British equestrian designs and Burberry’s outdoor heritage.

Speaking about the launch, Amrish Kumar, CEO, Ritu Kumar said, “Dubai has been of interest for several years since the opening of our first store in Burjuman Centre. The market in Dubai is a mix of cosmopolitan as well as traditional significances with a strong cultural diversity. It enables us to access customers from across the world as it is placed between the east and the west and we are excited to be opening our second & third store there this year. It will be our base to expand further into the Middle East”.

Ritu Kumar now has two stores in Dubai, since the opening of first store in 2014. These new stores, as well as the three stores in Mauritius, have the brand poised for a larger expansion globally in the future.

Jasper Conran, Julien Macdonald and Emilia Wickstead, Gareth Pugh, Simone Rocha, JW Anderson were among the labels showcasing their new season collections on the second day of London Fashion Week, which also saw Versus by Versace return to the event.

Versus, the spin-off label of Versace, returned to the London show circuit with a new collection promising “real attitude.” That’s clear from the very first outfit that opened the show: A smoldering all-black ensemble of thigh-baring hot pants, a leather jacket and knee-high biker boots.

There wasn’t much color, and when it did appear it made a big impact — think an outfit of a barely-there bra top, skinny jeans and parka, all in a striking mango yellow. This being Versace, animal prints couldn’t be amiss, this time in the form of a vertical stripe patchwork print.
