Style icon Paloma Picasso, youngest daughter of the artist Pablo Picasso opened the collection followed by classic codes of the house of YSL through flamboyant ‘80s single puff sleeve lace blouses and bustiers, worn with black trousers or rolled up jeans. Le smoking tuxedo looks were also represented, of course, but without the slim line tailoring and sculpted shoulders, the clothes were nearly all black, leather and lace, sleeves exaggerated, skirts short and shorter.

Speaking about the need for legislation to hold perpetrators of honor killings accountable, Obaid-Chinoy addressed the crowd saying, “All of us must speak out as there is no honor in killing a woman…The world that we want to leave our girls and our daughters must be much safer than the world we inherited.”

The Great Lawn in Central Park in New York City that harnesses “online actions” from millions of Global Citizens around the world witnessed a crowd of more than 60,000 people leading up to the closing  performance by Rihanna, Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri, CHIME FOR CHANGE Co-Founder Salma Hayek Pinault, Academy Award-winning filmmaker and CHIME FOR CHANGE Advisory Board member Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and actor and advocate Jada Pinkett Smith.

Ventures, a leading manufacturing house from Kolkata has made India proud by winning Grand Jury Award at Premier Vision, Paris 2016 -17. Première Vision Paris is one of the trade shows held around the world in which professionals from across 120 countries exhibit their products divided into six categories—yarns, fabrics, leather, design, accessories and manufacturing.

The award winning fabric presented by Ventures is a creation of hand-painted pearls that are coated and then stitched on to a base, while maintaining the free movement of each individual Pearl giving it a unique free flowing movement.

Ventures is a manufacturing export house established in 1994 based out of Kolkata, West Bengal with close to 3000 employees. The company is engaged in export of high value added textile products and garments, specialised embroidery & weaves for some of the top luxury brands in the world. “This is the first time an Indian company has won a prize for innovation and not manufacturing, which ties in the concept of “Make In India/Skill India” so perfectly, said Mr Ayush Murarka, CEO at Ventures.

2

Speaking about the fabric, Mr Oliver Gabet, Director of The Museum of Decorative Arts at the iconic Louvre museum, who was also heading the grand jury said “The grand jury prize for fabrics is a kind of netting by Ventures, with plays on beautiful beads, embroidered to each other while each remains independent and moves at its own rhythm. Its magic, and totally subtle. I still don’t know how it works. You can imagine it in a range of colours, in various combinations, and maybe even figurative motifs.”

Crocs, first runway collaboration with British designer Christopher Kane at London Fashion Week 2016, was bespoke, limited edition Crocs shoes debuted on the catwalk at designers SS’17 London Fashion Week show.

1

Christopher Kane’s signature of constant innovation and rebellious femininity perfectly complements the iconic Crocs Classic Clogs in a special marble print (in green, blue, orange and brown), as well as high shine plain colours in rich earthy tones, and embellished with beautiful natural gemstone Jibbitz(shoe charms), especially created by the brand for this collaboration.

2

“When Christopher Kane approached us about this opportunity, we were delighted and excited to work together with such an iconic force in the fashion world,” said Michelle Poole, Senior Vice President of Global Product and Merchandising for Crocs. “Working with Christopher reinforces our belief that our iconic clog is incredibly relevant in today’s style arena. This partnership becomes a terrific vehicle for transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary, and elevating the everyday into desirable luxury, two of Christopher’s key design philosophies. This collaboration has legs way beyond London Fashion Week, and we’re excited to share more details in the near future.”

3

Christopher Kane, said of the partnership: “I always work with unexpected items and combinations, transforming the everyday into desirable luxury. I wanted to bring my own stamp and DNA to Crocs’ classic clog and achieve something really special. The marble print feels very earthy and I often think of Crocs shoes in a very grounded way, worn with either an evening dress or with jeans, and adding the rock crystals brings a bit of luxury to this everyday style. Crocs are arguably the most comfortable shoe, and I love that they are slightly awkward and might be perceived by some as ‘ugly’. They have a very naïve and childlike shape which I especially like when they look extra clunky on the foot.”
