John Casablancas, the founder of Elite Models died on Saturday, in Rio de Janeiro after a long battle with cancer at the age of 70. Born in Manhattan in 1942, he attended boarding school in Switzerland and was married to Aline and had five children Cecile, Julian, John Jr., Fernando Augusto and Nina.

Casablancas started Elite Model Management in 1972 in Paris and first opened offices in New York in 1977. His vision changed the model management concept and shaped the careers of many models like Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Stephanie Seymour, Gisele Bündchen and Heidi Klum.

He resigned from the agency after BBC undercover documentary exposed Elite’s Europe executives bragging about their use of drugs and sexual relations with young models and moved to Miami and Rio de Janeiro. But in 2005 when Elite USA was purchased by Eddie Trump, he returned back to New York as a consultant in Elite.

A country rich in hand-embellishments, embroidery techniques, and fantastical textiles, will get to see Varun Bahl’s signature embroideries with modern silhouettes, redefining the concept of embellishment, and making it more accessible and desirable for the contemporary Indian woman, on August 2, 2013.

For his upcoming Haute Couture collection, he says the general consensus on Indian couture tends towards bridal wear, whereas I take to dressing not only the bride, but her family as well. For the lady who isn’t shopping for a wedding or wedding-related occasion, he explores transitional dressing. The aperitif sari-gown replaces the cocktail drape, and the anarkali dress becomes a daywear option, while remaining in the pale of haute-couture privilege.

At the Delhi Couture week 2013, one will get to see Varun’s ongoing affair with black in addition to winter pastels like pale blue, dust pink, and powdered moss. With his fine eye for color, he adds in luminous tones like ochre, fuchsia, and red to complete the offering. The fabrics, treated as carriers for Bahl’s exquisite techniques, range from the traditional to the cutting edge: silk, chiffon, georgette, wool-crepe, bubble-crepe, and canvas come together with diaphanous gauze, organza, and silk net to create garments that are everlasting in style and design.

At the ongoing India Bridal Fashion Week 2013, Falguni and Shane Peacock are going to dress the fairy tale bride. Their collection the Garden of Eden is inspired from the places they visited while they traveled to Europe including Madrid, the beautiful gardens of Como and Monaco. The collection has hues of pistachio, pink, ivory, gold combined with Floral motifs and vintage laces.

The designers have worked on each piece individually to replicate the beauty and movement of nature in a contemporary form.

To celebrate the opening of his new Munich concept store, Karl Lagerfeld has designed a Bavarian-inspired capsule collection, which is scheduled to open in September. He has given the classic German garment, the dirndl a high-fashion makeover with white blouse and pinafore — all done with a rock ’n’ roll edge and touches of black leather.

Look for the collection in his Munich and Berlin stores, just in time for the 180th anniversary of Oktoberfest, the giant 16-day beer festival held every autumn in Munich.

The 16 year old vibrant beauty is from Czech Republic. Extremely vivacious, Ivana is the girl next door. She is currently working with Bohemia Model Management and aspires to continue adding glamour to the fashion world.
