An exotic Scottish spectacular, Chanel showcased a tartan inflected collection at the hauntingly beautiful Linlithgow palace, a birthplace of Queen of Scots.

For their latest Métiers d’Art Pre – Fall collection, chunky knits and not-so-staid tweeds from beneath cozy Chanel blankets festooned with jewels were quiet apparent on the catwalk.

Chanel’s love affair with Scotland is not a recent fling. One of the two loves of Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel’s life was the Duke of Westminster and a lifelong admiration for tweeds and knitwear, which has become the pillars of le look Chanel.

Few years back it was Burger King which had launched a fragrance smelling like its burger. Following close in its heels is international pizza chain, Pizza Hut which comes up with a fragrance smelling like freshly baked bread with little bit of seasoning.

The fast food chain has recently decided to launch a stock of 100 bottles of pizza-scented fragrance, to be sent to its facebook followers who back in August commented on one of its posts asking, “Do you love the smell of a box of Pizza Hut pizza being opened? We thought so. If that smell was a perfume, what would it be called?”

After Pirelli’s soulful 2013 calendar, Maybelline New York comes with its arty tribute to New York City through a limited edition calendar.

The aesthetically shot pictures by photographer Kenneth Willardt features some of the best names in the modeling business all body painted conceptually to mark the different sides of the city. From Freja Beja Erichsen painted in silver representing the NYC Art Scene to Erin Wasson painted in black stripes to symbolize the streets of the city, the calendar shows models in wildly done makeup – varying from neon lip shades to multi-hued nail paints.

The calendar with models looking like New York City Scenes is only meant to showcase the creative indulgence of the brand, and will not be sold.

The Italian artist Franco Guerzoni is all set to put up an exhibition in the rooms of Angiolini dell’Andito of the Pitti Palace in Rome, this February 2013.

The evocatively titled exhibition, ‘The Wall Forgotten’ will have more than 30 unique works on display, and will focus in particular on the result of experience of the last decade of the artist. On offer are works that have added a new and substantial chapter to the rich and varied novel figures Guerzoni has gradually created on the subjects like wear of the time, the ruins of archeology and traces of memory.

The exhibition promoted by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture and curated by Pier Giovanni Castagnoli and Fabrizio D’Amico will also include a selection of historical works dating back to the seventies when the artist resorted to the use of photographs in his works.

Arjun Khanna is synonymous for his vintage themed works and unconventional sensibilities. The high-couture designer exhibited his first collection of old-world knick-knacks and collector items dating back to the early 1900’s. An adept collector and perhaps the constant traveller, Arjun showcased pieces from his travels across the world.

The accumulation of items in his ‘museum-setting’ store is perhaps the best extension of his clothing line, playing on his quirky, retro yet contemporary outlook. The hand-picked collection included altars, curated-art-turned-canvas, retro-typewriters, barber-shop inspired furniture, custom-made helmets, bikes, lighters, antique cameras, ties, radios, luggage pieces, early 19th century sewing machines and other pieces of art that were on display at his flagship boutique, housed in a 200-year old building in Colaba.

The exhibition will also showcase a range of 1920’s to the 195o’s eyewear including an early range of rare aviators and a caravan series from brands like Ray-Ban that have been restored. The unique pieces of one-off eyewear, distinctive retro tea shades have been popularized by legendary Beatle member, John Lennon, Elton John and Lady Gaga. The collection also includes restored-watches from early ranges of Seiko, Rikoh, the West End Watch Co., and even the good old HMT!

If you think that North-Eastern states of India are bit high-strung, then you must visit the annual Hornbill Festival organized in Kisama Village of Nagaland. From fashion shows to rock bands performing live, the Festival brings to the fore the rich culture and traditions of Nagaland’s tribes.

A week-long festival has its share of glitz and glamour besides traditional display of art and craft. The festival kicked off with a fashion show by designer Atsu Sekhose, in association with Nagaland Women Development Department. The show with theme “Celebrating Naga Textile Art and Design” featured locally created Naga tribal themed prints and motifs on shirts, pants, tops, jackets and dresses. The hand woven textiles of silks and cotton, military inspired men’s wear and tribal scarves came in a beautiful mix of bright colors and clean silhouettes.

The festival also sees model Esther Jamir making her debut in designing with a Spring Summer 2013 collection. The range done in cotton features a lot of beautiful colors of spring and summer days.
