We left Paris in a jiffy, realizing we will find Last Supper in Milan, Italy. en route to Milan, we stop by in Rome, and it’s overwhelming to tell the history of this Place with every single stone telling you so many stories… and your trip wouldn’t be complete unless you see all, starting from Louvre in Paris to Roman Colosseum till the Last Supper in Milan.

And the best way to see a fair chunk of the continent is to take a Eurail pass. It’s the ultimate jetting between Paris, Rome and then Milan by train, also because it is an opportunity to experience what could be described as a bygone era, to check out the countryside is like a European adventure.

Starting from Paris, Louvre is one of the biggest art museums in the world, and it can be extremely daunting to find your way around, unless you have taken a guided tour. There are 35,000 objects on display out of a collection of 380,000, seeing all is not humanly possible in one visit. Hence the best way is, to shortlist your interest.

The list included winged victory of Samothrace, Cupid’s Kiss, Venus de Milo, Raft of the Medusa, Coronation of Napoleon, I.M. Pei’s famous Pyramid, and Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. While there is, more but going back in memory these held significance. My Bad, I guess…

Every three years Bad Ragaz is home to the outdoor art exposition called Bad RagARTZ from 5 th May to November 2018. With this time, around contemporary Indian artist Owais Husain is exhibiting his multi-media installation Empires of Memory.

The first impression of Bad RagARTZ 2018, brought back memories of my stay at Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. Surrounded by tranquillity, it is the exclusive retreat for relaxation and recuperation, nestled amidst the foothills of the Alps in Eastern Switzerland. Bad Ragaz is a holistic five-star luxury resort, centred around bathing and spa tradition spanning hundreds of years with a unique combination of thermal spring and wellness oasis.

A world of nature, enjoyment and inspiration Bad RagARTZ is the place where art and wellness meet in stunning outdoor setting at the resort I was told. Many would think, Aghast, what gratitude is to do with Travel!

Well, this gratitude is for all the worldly experiences life has given me, recent being a fortuitous to attend the much publicized ‘Royal Wedding’ in London. It had so much fanfare attached to it that almost every day I was reading who will wear what, from Hollywood to Priyanka Chopra to British Royals.

This was a chance of lifetime and wouldn’t want to miss, knowing it will sure make a visit pretty-hectic, especially when it is for a short period of time, I went ahead with the collab. Getting inn there was like a fairy-tale in between the beautiful white garden roses, peonies, and fox gloves adorning St. George’s Chapel, which the couple decided should be delivered later to the patients of St. Joseph’s Hospice in London.

While I was contemplating what to do during Republic day long weekend, it was nerve wracking to realize that everybody is already off to some resort or the other.

The majestic hills of Uttarakhand are the best way to detox I thought, and I needed one badly. And so, it happened!

I wanted the quickest and the fastest way to get away from the cacophony. The weather was perfect for Mussoorie I thought, with its green hills and varied flora and fauna, is a fascinating hill.

The Claridges Nabha Residence

Commanding snow ranges to the northeast and glittering views, I landed amid cedar and silver oak forest, a one-time holiday home of the Pataudis and still for Maharaja of Nabha descendants, yes, The Claridges Nabha Residence, which has been transformed into a stunning old-world-inspired resort, offering tranquillity with luxury and elegance.

While I was being briefed about the place, was wondering amidst all the places, there lay a few hidden maps of places that are not heard of, spoken of and one of that is Claridges Nabha Residence.

Although, I am sure, not everyone is familiar with all the treasures that Italy preserve, I decided to explore, Italy as destination from the picturesque settings to the hustle bustle of the city.

Florence

While, you might think, why wed in Italy? The question is not why you should go to Italy, which is known as country of art, ancient history, ethereal vistas, top-notch cuisine, and abundant wine (Italy leads the world with more than four million acres of vineyards), seems like an ideal destination for the ones who is dreaming of a wedding in Venice, a special proposal in the beauty of Milan, an anniversary in the fascinating Florence or a honeymoon in la Citta Eterna, Rome the Eternal City.

UK, has always been my favorite holiday destination, and Edinburgh is like home away from home. Although it is part of UK but there is enormous difference culturally.

blog

Even though I have been around the city twice earlier but this time I found a new trend in me (no not because of my Fashionable Link, www.fashionfad.in), but truly a kind of wanderlust, since because it was more of a long vacation than a short sightseeing stay. I wanted to blend into a culture, diverting from the beaten path, talking to locals and exploring an area as one of a kind.

The Zegna Oasis traces its roots back to the 1930’s when Ermenegildo Zegna, gave new life to its native town, Trivero, in the Alps around Biella. In addition to building houses for employees and the health, training, sports and recreational centre for the fellow citizens, his project also included the complete reforestation of the mountain slopes with 500,000 pines, hundreds of rhododendrons and hydrangeas and the construction of a road, dubbed “the Zegna Panoramic route.

01

The main goal of the Zegna Oasis, the first example of environmental patronage in Italy, is to maintain the presence of human being in the mountain and to protect, safeguard and improve the area, though communication with visitors using innovative “visual alphabet” signs that describe animals, plants and minerals of the territory and illustrate local history.

In the heart of Oasi Zegna is Bielmonte, ideal destination for families as well as outdoor enthusiasts, allows one to experience the mountains in their most authentic aspect within an uncontaminated, natural environment, extensive network of hiking trails to be explored on foot, by horse or by mountain bike, as well as personal enrichment, knowledge and fun and equally relaxing wellness center take care of their guests with personalized treatments using only natural products.

The hotel, thanks to its shape and the use of fir wood for the external facade, complements the surrounding mountain environment. It was designed in 1964 by the great architect Luigi Vietti, who managed to convey an extraordinary synthesis of architecture and nature in the Bucaneve Hotel.

2

Comfortable and stylish, their 22 rooms reflect the original architectural style of the Hotel and offer guests the feel of an authentic mountain residence. Ristorante Bucaneve philosophy is largely based on the use of local ingredients prepared in accordance with the mountain tradition in a manner that emphasizes the quality of the raw materials.

Come summers and we start planning a much needed getaway but with every country trying to come out from crisis and currency on the rise, the biggest frustration is to look for exotic yet budget destination which doesn’t leave you strapped for cash.

We bring you a low down of few of the best budget destinations you can look ahead to travel with just about $20 a day –

Ethiopia

EthiopiaIf I told you that my next trip is to an ecologically diverse country, lush and fertile with jungles, rivers, deafening waterfalls, tropical forests and mountain ranges that resemble a mix the Alps and the Grand Canyon, the last place you would probably think of is Ethiopia.

Ethiopia is not only one of the most fascinating countries in the world, but luckily enough also one of the cheapest. There’s so much to see and do, with it’s changing landscapes, history, tribal regions etc

Indonesia

IndonesiaIndonesia, a Southeast Asian nation made up of thousands of volcanic islands, is home to hundreds of ethnic groups speaking many different languages. It’s is known for its beaches, volcanoes and jungles sheltering elephants, tigers and Komodo dragons.

Transport costs can add up if you move around a lot as you will need to take boats or budget flights. But staying in just a few areas you can get beachside wooden bungalow for $7 a night and eat good seafood for $5.

Colombia

ColombiaConsidering its world-class treks, clay-coloured colonial cities, and glistening beaches on offer, it’s surprising Colombia isn’t more popular with travellers. Likely tainted by its outdated reputation for rampant crime, Colombia is in fact a friendly, vibrant country that’s well worth exploring.

Street snacks range from 40 cents – $1 USD, a simple meal will cost about $3+ USD while a fancier meal will be from $6.50+ USD. Water is ~40 cents per bottle, while beer is 65 cents to $1 USD.  Accommodation will cost about $6-$10 USD (approx).

Ukraine

UkraineUkraine is a large country in Eastern Europe known for its Orthodox churches, Black Sea coastline and forested mountains. Its capital, Kiev, features the gold-domed St. Sophia’s Cathedral, with 11th-century mosaics and frescoes.

Due to the current conflict in the east of the country the local currency has seriously devalued making it a great place in Europe to get by on a cheap budget. Head to historic Lviv city and the Carpathian Mountains in the west, or go chill/party on the Black Sea coast.
You can get a tasty rib eye steak for just $3! Beer is on average $1 in the cheaper bars.

Bolivia

BoliviaBolivia is a country in central South America, with a varied terrain spanning Andes mountains, the Atacama Desert and Amazon Basin rainforest. At more than 3,500m, its administrative capital, La Paz, sits on the Andes’ Altiplano plateau with snow-capped Mt. Illimani in the background. Bolivia is breathtaking. Being the poorest country in South America, Bolivia provides the greatest value on the continent, this teeny country has a lot to offer.

Shopaholics can enjoy cheap shopping; One should explore the Witches Market where you can buy a spell or a dead baby alpaca for good fortune.

A meal out at a basic restaurant ranges from $2-$4 USD, while a fancier meal will set you back $7+ USD. Beer is ~$1-$2 USD, and water is ~50-80 cents.

…..to be continued

Contrary to India being considered as unsafe planet for women, a new trend of solo female traveler’s is on the rise. Insatiable cravings for discovery and travel to distinct places have evolved a sense of nomadic culture amongst females. Free to wander at will, feminine souls are looking for a break where they can travel within the country to less touristy destinations.

1

While it’s lovely to travel with friends and family, there will always be things you want to do and places you want to go that don’t appeal to anyone else. But that shouldn’t stop one from going there on their own. With emerging trend being the focus, Kanupriya Gupta a student of Communication Media and Film, has designed and created a project called Turquoise Trails, emphasizing on road journeys to exotic destinations for women, aiming to establish travel as a way of rediscovering oneself.

2

The journey of working on this project has been a thrilling one for a budding student and travel enthusiast. Working solo with an idea so closely has made the quality of her work better than ever. Throughout her work tenure, she kept one single fact in mind. “It is always Simple that produces the marvelous”. And thus, her design has that minimalistic and simple look.
