With the increasing trends of the venues for Indian weddings, birthday parties and other synonymous events, shifting to beach resorts, swimming pools etc., designer Renu Bothra launched her niche Resort Wear boutique, ‘YOU’ in Mumbai.  Ideal for the upcoming summers, the store is replete of Renu’s personal in-house collection along with clothing and accessories by Stoffa, Fuschia by Preeti Mcconkey, UVI by Yuvraj Malhotra, Paprika by Falguni Zaveri, HZM by Haya Mohammed, Flames by Martino Caramia, Anmol Kakkad, and Joli by Liane De Selys among others.

Ranging from day wear to night wear, YOU will have clothes wearable for multiple occasions. The kaftans, tops, dresses, maxis, evening dresses, swimsuits and accessories, beach bags & sarongs are all easy to wear, breathable and lightweight. The list of fabrics includes cotton, silk and linen, all ideal for the weddings and parties during the summer heat.

Mirpuri’s presentation of her Caribbean Dream resort wear collection was ostensibly tailor-made, for the beach-front themed outing held at SoBo hotel, in an alfresco hay thatched cabanas, coconut-tree lined pathways complete with sand and pebbles, hammocks & bicycles and crab shells strewn all over.

The collection consisted from the mandarin-collared dresses to the short apron-wrap dresses and knee length sheath dresses, from the mini-skirts to the blousons and maxis and from the long tailed kurtas with cropped pyjamas to the saris.

Seen hobnobbing with her guests that included Laila Khan, Tara Sharma, Amrita Raichand, Kadambari Lakhani, Bhagyashree, Madhoo, Peenaz Masani, Kunika Singh, Sangita Jindal, Esther Daswani, Indu Shahani, Farzana Contractor, Kahini Arte Merchant, Kaushika Hemdev, Mona Narang, Rishma Pai, Michelle Poonawala and Sangita Singh .

Ala Madhu and Rajan Madhu launched a new restaurant comprising of Lebanese and Moroccan Cuisines and Cultures, ‘Rrala’s Habibi’, located at the heart of South Delhi. Attempting to introduce and blend the two cultures, the hosts purported the customers to feel the Arabic experience along with extensive and exquisite palette of food and some entertaining live music.

Chef Ratib Al Ghriwati along with his experienced team specifically came from Syria to give the diners its deserved class, quality and authentication. Getting high on the exotic ambience were guests like Ustaad Shujaat Khan, Cigar Baron Chetan Seth, renowned Kathak exponent Shovana Narayan, Anjanna Kuthiala, Shehnaz Hussain, designers Madhu Jain, Amit GT, Rajeev and Monika Mallik to name a few.

Made in France 2014, exhibition devoted to high-end apparel and accessories manufacturing, will be showcasing a wealth of French high-end manufacturing expertise, skills, craftsmanship and industrial techniques.

This 12th édition session of Made in France will bring together a handpicked selection of around 100 specialist companies whose expertise is 100% French – from garment manufacturers to weavers, including those awarded the French government’s Entreprises du Patrimoine Vivant (“Living Heritage Company”) quality label for luxury ready-to-wear, accessory and now jewellery collections.
Made in France is a major asset for fashion designers and heads of collections on the lookout for textiles and fabrics, manufacturing solutions and related services for high-end and luxury apparel and fashion accessories.

For the one-night-only occasion, Calvin Klein, Inc. presented a unique concept house, designed by renowned American architect Joshua Prince-Ramus, uniting many of the company’s different labels and product categories under one roof. The structure was constructed within a hangar on the grounds of the former Kallang Airport – which was decommissioned in 1955 and has since been designated as an architectural landmark.

The architectural installation where space and technology was used to engage guests in an interactive experience, had models moved about the voyeuristic house wearing key looks from the Fall 2014 Calvin Klein Collection, Calvin Klein platinum label, Calvin Klein Underwear and the newly relaunched Calvin Klein Jeans line.

Chef Farrokh Khambata and Dilshad Khambatta unveiled a new menu at his signature South East Asian restaurant Umame hosting a Special Preview Dinner with city’s glitterati, seen enjoying their warmth & hospitality at this lavish dinner were Laila & Ricky Lamba, Farhad Taraporewala, Divya Mohta, Rouble Nagi, Rina Shah, Vidya Malvade, Payal & Akshay Kilachand, Shaan Khanna, Rashmi Nigam, Kunika & Rana Singh, Anuja Bijlani, Deepika & Ajay Gehani amongst many others.

As a part of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2014 the festival ambassador, Vidya Balan did a stunning photo shoot with Australia’s celebrated designers – Akira Isogawa and Susan Dimasi.

Akira Isogawa after dressing most of Australia’s notable figures including the famous Oscar winning gown of Cate Blancett, created a fusion of his Japanese roots and Australian chic style dress for Vidya while Susan Dimasi presented Vidya in a stunning sari. The fabric was specially designed in a hand weaving a textile with silk ribbon through a rubber net drawing inspiration from the 18th century brocades out of the Victorian art gallery’s collection.
