Manish Malhotra saw its journey complete 4 years, as he presented ‘Men for Mijwan’, a fashion show in support of the Mijwan Welfare Society, an NGO founded by Late Kaifi Azmi and headed by Shabana Azmi and Namrata Goyal. The Mijwan collection from Manish reflected the traditional heart of India, as the designer draws his inspiration from the history of Awadh (Lucknow). Signature silhouettes by Manish Malhotra including lehengas, kalidars, saris, kurtas and pants for women, and sherwanis for men will be seen on the ramp in deeper tones of blues, and a summery colour palette comprising pinks, yellows, greys and pastels.

The show witnessed leading men from the Indian film fraternity including Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Ranbir Kapoor and Siddharth Malhotra, who came together to support this great cause. The front row also saw eminent personalities like Jaya Bachchan, Neetu Kapoor, Urmila Matondkar, Dia Mirza, Sonali Bendre and Goldie Behl, Aditi Rao Hydari, Kalki Koechlin, Sushmita Sen, Kajol, Tanisha Mukherjee, Javed Akhtar, Reena and Ashok Wadhwa, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chaddha, Diana Penty, Parineeti Chopra, Prateik Babbar, Yami Gautam, Vidya Malvade, Queenie Singh, Chaya Momaya, Zeba Kohli, Atul Kasbekar, Parizaad Zorabian and Devika Bhojwani to name a few.

For years, the fashion industry has been known for offering a helping hand to the underprivileged and the needy. This year, on the 21st of March, the ninth anniversary of  the International Down Syndrome Day, designer Manali Jagtap grants a yet another generous tribute to the Parents of Down’s syndrome Association, by organising a unique event on the 11th Rang Birangi Shyam at the ‘UMEED’ foundation initiative.

‘Umeed’ is a charitable trust which has Manali’s mother, Tejaswini Jagtap as its president. The mother-daughter duo in collaboration took this philanthropic step to help the parents of Down syndrome.

The evening was replete of various dance performances and other entertaining acts followed by a fashion show, exclusively organised by Manali, comprising of her creations curated especially for the kids. Further charm to the evening was bought by the presence of the Bollywood actress ‘Aarti Chabria’ as Manali’s show stopper.

The list of guests included the likes of Amole Gupte and other people associated with the entertainment industry. The event was an extremely thoughtful and kind gesture on the part of Manali Jagtap. It was an aristocratic way of bringing forward effectively, the voice of the Down syndrome affected children, and the people working for them, to the rest of the world.
