The glamour was literally on its toes at backstage on day 2 & 3 of WIFW SS’11. Mounting barometers and thermometers turned the fashion fever incorrigible. Basked in dim yellow lights and steam of iron the exuberance and ebullience backstage was all maddening. Capering models ( few like Tamara Moss all freaked out), shouting choreographers and running make up crew infused high drama. Last moment touch ups, rush ups and slip ups rose the anxiety and excitement to rooftop levels. Dancing brushes and running fingers let the fashion rock on the ramp. Meanwhile this hustle bustle fashionfad captured Tinu Verghis, Diandra Soares and Candice Pinto amongst others.

Now, as the latest edition of Lakme Fashion Week is around the corner, the buzz is at all time high as designers and models are gearing up for the event.

With models acting as moving mannequins, designers cribbing for a perfect tuck and ushers lost in their counts, the scene at fittings sessions of designers Neeta Lulla, Krishna Mehta and Priyadarshini Rao cut a chaotic picture.

From the heap of shoes to beautiful garments laden with crystals, the fittings gave a brief look into what is going to surface this fashion week.

If the glitz and grandeur at Delhi Couture Week 2012 earned it a fair big space in tabloids, then it’s not only pouring in Bollywood, larger-than-life backdrops and elaborate designs by veterans, the dramatic make-up equally contributes to the glamour quotient.

Holding the reins of making models go with the theme of the show, MAC Cosmetics came up with different ideas to create the make-up looks on the catwalks of the designers like Varun Bahl, JJ Valaya, Anamika Khanna, Anju Modi, Gaurav Gupta, Ashima Leena, Shantanu Nikhil, Manav Gangwani and Manish Malhotra.

The catchiest of them was the look created at designer Anju Modi’s show where models strutted down the ramp with painted foreheads. The red painted foreheads adorned with glitters stood out with sleek hairdo and bare make-up. While in JJ Valaya’s show the loosely tied hair went well with a ray of glitters on forehead and matte bronze cheeks.

Varun Bahl’s show saw models with richly honey eyes, mineralized cheeks and plum red lips. On the other hand, the brides of Shantanu & Nikhil wore bouffant and gothic eye makeup.

With the hysterical fashion week season going on in full whirls and swirls, the sleepless nights and fashion overdose come handy. From fittings to runway catwalk, the journey gets quite taxing. And fittings session for upcoming Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 in Mumbai was no different.

From the sartorial niceties to adjustment of drawstrings, the fittings witnessed designers measuring their every fall, stitch and drape whereas models their diet charts and relaxation mantras. Meanwhile, FashionFad went behind the scene and captured our diligent models and designers like Rocky S, Anita Dongre, Aki Narula, Nina Manuel, Candice Pinto and Sucheta Sharma amongst others.

If the Bard had to define the backstage at a fashion week, he might have called it a ‘beautiful jungle’. Felines fearlessly prowling around decked up in illusions. The usual chaos at backstage remained all intact at the recently concluded Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2012 edition.

With a show per hour, models and Mac’s make up crew let their horses free, and kept running around creating different themes during all 5 days. With fluctuating styles and patterns of brows, hair and lips, the look kept changing in a jiffy. Moreover, breaking heels and slipping garments, thus ensuing pouts and purses formed an eventful backstage.

This time of the year, when nip in the air comes with a happy tinge, euphoria flew off the Chivas Studio in New Delhi this weekend, with unstinted art on stall, display and move.

With a slew of creative geniuses, stunning the city and its art enthusiasts, fashionfad captured the men-on-work, rehearsing for a Fashion Broadway, ‘Love and all that jazz’, being directed by Rohan Sippy and styled by Abraham & Thakore.

Unedited theatrics being performed by singing, contemplating and performing men with stare worthy arabesques almost set the space on fire, only to be offset by sighs galore.
