This season, Louisa Parris offers another flirty wink to artist Piet Mondrian, adding his signature bold blocks of color to her gorgeous gowns. Parris’ characteristic soft silhouettes float effortlessly upon the slightest movement. Each gown deserves a special evening out, yet who would deny the temptation to slip on her yards of silk charmeuse, crepe, satin and tulle to lounge about – purrr.

As much as I would love to exercise sharp, editorial focus and choose one or two favorites to share, I simply cannot. I can, however, tell you that I’m obsessed with kaftans at the moment, and Parris’s glam kaftan- like gown, Pauline, seems perfect for a sunset garden party at a winery in Napa this summer. Or, one could take cue from San Francisco’s lovely Anja Manuel and select a Parris original (like the “Louise”) to wear to an opening night gala.

For the non-conformist who plans to attend the Black & White Ball (or any upcoming party with the same theme) – the Susanna, with a peek of color, is calling you. If a serene, neutral palette is your preference, then Trilby is, almost literally, sheer perfection.

A fashion design and marketing graduate from London’s prestigious Central Saint Martins, Louisa Parris was honored with their Women’s Wear Collection Award. She emerged again as a distinguished designer in 2008, receiving the Gen Art Styles International Design Award for Eveningwear. Parris recently launched her 2010 spring/summer collection and freelances as a designer for projects in the U.S. and the U.K. www.louisaparris.com
