The festivities of the South-East Asian fashion extravaganza continue with the anticipated fervour on its third day. Labels Kitty Joseph, Monday to Sunday, Alleria and Batik Chic were listed amongst the exhibitors.

580The collections mostly comprised of simplistic evening wear filled with the required amount of sophistication. Embellishments were minimal yet a lot of applique surface prints could be spotted. Where on one hand the colour schemes for the collection were loud, dynamic and glamorous, on the other hand, these surface prints brought that ethnic touch to the entire look. The silhouettes were mostly free flowing, enhancing the figure of the wearer yet keeping the comfort factor intact. Also texturing was a rampant factor for the designers, wherein velvets, 3D floral embellishments, merging colours and striped layers were used.

580 1Meanwhile, detailed tailoring and minimalist design by IFF participant Vinora Ng as well as quirky but pretty creations of another IFF participant Toton was also a part of day 3.

With the onset of day 4, three leading fashion schools came into the limelight, namely Binus Northumbia School of Design, Raffles Institute of Higher Education and Lasalle College Jakarta. Besides, the day also featured Oscar Lawalatta, who collaborated with Dutch designer Mada van Gaans to showcase an exquisite monochromatic collection.

580 2The collections from these fashion schools appeared to be focussing on the sporty side, catering vastly to our teenage group of fashion freaks, who believe in completely keeping it off the edge, yet highly stylish and awe-inspiring.

Thus, the Jakarta fashion week is almost mid-way towards its grand finale, also providing an enthusiastic platform to the future emerging designers.

200In the remembrance of what is known to be the biggest loss in the fashion industry, a private funeral for Oscar de la Renta was held in Manhattan on 3rd November.

The periphery of the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola at Park Avenue was all lined up with barricades and a strict security force.

The mourning included the elites and celebrities of the fashion world including Hillary Rodham Clinton, Hugh Jackman, Anna Wintour, Vera Wang, Michael Kors and many more.

It was a solemn and a heart-felt commemoration to the legend that de la Renta was. Everyone present expressed their deep and soulful fondness towards the designer and his commendable contributions to the world of fashion.
