The influential Central St Martins professor, Louise Wilson took her last sleep of her life on Friday 16th May, while she was visiting her sister in Scotland.

The legendary instructor has been known shape the careers of some of the leading designers of London with Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane and Alexander McQueen being included in the list.

A person deeply respected and admired by her students, Louise excelled in her role as the longstanding director of the college’s MA fashion degree. Having received an OBE for her outstanding contribution to fashion and education in 2008, Louise Wilson will be missed for her far-sightedness and outspoken viewpoints.

The annual graduation fashion show at various fashion schools is both the culmination of their academic preparation and their entry into the fashion world. At Savannah College of Art and Design, Ninety student-made and designed looks graced the runway for the 2014 Show. Not only do the garments reflect intensive preparation in design, CAD work, draping and ideation, but an uncanny ‘oneness’ with what the industry showed at Fashion Week. The undergraduates and graduates, selected by jury to participate in the show, began working on their looks in September before they even laid eyes on what the runways of New York, London, Paris and Milan would see earlier this year.

In partnership with the luxury accessory brand, ‘Choppard’, the 67th edition of the Cannes film festival kick-starts with an all new Red Carpet collection, inspired by the glamour of the Cinecittá studios, the behind the scenes of film making mecca in Rome. The festival this year presents an all new Palme d’Or, which is for the first time made in ethical gold, extracted in full accordance with the economic, social and environmental development.

The first day of the festival featured Australian actress Cate Blanchett winning the 14th Choppard Trophy, followed by the crème de la crème of the cinema world, dressed in the 67 dresses inspired by the charisma and the mesmerising beauty of Cinecittá.

Speaking of the much talked about Red Carpet attires, CHANEL’s ambassador Gaspard ULLIEL was seen in J12 Chronographe Superleggera watch in black matte ceramic and steel by CHANEL Watches. Whereas, Blake Lively, the face of Gucci Première women’s fragrance, wore a Gucci Première black and white silk crepe fifties inspired strapless evening gown featuring a full skirt and a dramatic train, and Ryan Reynolds was seen wearing a Gucci black satin peak lapel one button Signoria tuxedo with a white evening shirt, white satin bowtie, black silk cummerbund and white leather lace-ups

As day 3 approached, L’Oréal Paris ambassadors were seen filling the red carpet with glitz and glamour. Madame Ines de la Fressange was seen sparkling with a gorgeous red gown and a bright red lip colour. Also spotted were Heike Makatsch, Ingeborga Dapkunaite and Arwa.

Day 4 kick-started with Freida Pinto, Eva Longoria, Natasha Poly, Isabeli Fontana and Tais Araujo illuminating the theme of L’Or Lumière with ravishing looks and exquisite hairstyles.

In the following days, celebrities were also seen wearing luxurious Montblanc watches, Antonio Banderas, Channing Tatum, Rosario Dawson and Beatrice Rosen being included in the list.

However, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan rocked the ramp on Day 8 as she appeared wearing a ravishing mermaid Roberto Cavalli gown, looking beautiful in the shiny nude lip colour. Accompanying her were other L’Oréal Paris ambassadors, Barbara Palvin and Lara Stone.

Among the other highlights of the celebratory event, Sonam Kapoor wearing Chopard jewellery in a gorgeous light blue Elie Saab Anamika Khanna combination and maintained her reputation as our best-known young fashionista.

The closing ceremony of Cannes will see the awarding of the precious Palme d’Or, the most desirable gem of the festival.

This designer duo believes in creating boundless art with sufficient amount of sophistication and style. They launched their label ‘Anant’ in 1993, and have been known in the fashion world for their exquisite creations ever since then. Of the two, Vijay is an MBA from the prestigious Cornell University, USA and had minimal professional about designing. Taking forward his belief of manifesting his personal artistic impression on the fabric, the designers under ‘Anant’ create timeless ensembles which are replete of excessive amount of detailing and embellishments.

Speaking of their achievements in the fashion arena, after their debut men’s wear collection in 1993, the duo progressed to creating unisex ensembles in the forthcoming years. Thereafter, they held multiple exhibitions and shows in Delhi to bring forward their collection to the mainstream fashion world.

Among the milestones of their career, the duo made their official public appearance in a grand platform like the Lakme Fashion Week in 2002, 2003 and many more. Besides, the designers are also listed as Associate Designer Members of the Fashion Design Council of India.

Meanwhile, they are currently based in Delhi and retail their collection through their flagship store at Greater Kailash in South Delhi.

For the first and the last time ever, the luxury label Louis Vuitton’s Resort show was unique and pompous. Held on the square in front of the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, Nicolas Ghesquiere’s show was also the brand’s first resort show and was replete of a youthful collection charismatic colour combinations and surprising effects.

With a slight influence of the seventies, the resort wear collection included animal prints; see through skin fit dresses, leather coats, pan suits and many more. Ideally the collection catered to both formal and informal occasions and was filled with embellishments, 3D embroideries and accessorised add-ons.

Moreover, the Resort wear collection served to be extremely crucial for Louis Vuitton, keeping in mind its strategy of growing customer base in the comparatively warm, coastal areas like Brazil, China etc.

Meanwhile, Ghesquiere made the seating arrangements and the ramp’s appearance in such a fashion that the show seemed to be exclusive for the clients.

The cheerful guest list included Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jennifer Connelly, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Gong Li and Zhang Ziyi among others.
