Araaish Trousseau, a one stop dream destination for every bride and groom-to-be, hosted the 25th edition of the popular Araaish exhibition, at The Four Seasons, Mumbai.

Hosted by Mana Shetty, Isha Mehra, Sharmilla & Shaan Khanna, the exhibition was well attended by friends who come to support the cause and the ladies year after year. The showcasing designers were Mandira Bedi, Maheep Kapoor and Shehla Khan, while Mandira Bedi launched her bespoke label, a beautiful collection of Sarees, at Araaish Trousseau.

The first Araaish Bridal Directory, which will be a coveted magazine for all labels in the wedding space, too was launched at the exhibition. Spotted at the event were Kajol, Sridevi, Queenie Singh, Suniel Shetty, Smita and Sharmila Thackrey, Shaheen Abbas, Madhoo Shah, Arti Surendranath, Kahkashan Patel, Pinky Reddy, Masaba Gupta, Sophie Choudry, Renu Mehra, Malini Agarwalla with daughter Rishika, Tanaaz Doshi, Nandini Sen and Rukhsana Eisa amongst others.

Prince RAHIM AGA KHAN (the eldest son of His Highness AGA KHAN IV) and Princess SALWA (American supermodel Kendra Spears) tied the knot in a private ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland. On this grand occasion, the nuptials wore magnificent ensembles specially created and designed by Manav Gangwani.

Introduced by Naomi Campbell, Manav Gangwani designed a classic sherwani with 100% pure silk brocade with an off-white shirt and trouser for prince Rahim . And to match Princess SALWA’s (supermodel KENDRA SPEARS) delicate persona, he created a beyond- gorgeous pre-draped sari paired with traditional blouse in intricate jamawar hand embroidered work along with decadent antique gold-silver glass beads & a touch of Swarovski crystals. Both the ensembles were created in ivory color and matched perfectly.

The Autumn/Winter ’13 make- up trend is moody, shadowy and haunting. Last season we saw beautiful minimalist makeup, but now the trend is pushing away from pretty and towards rebellion. This time it’s got attitude; it’s aggressive, and it’s imperfect on purpose.

The makeup this season is angular, creative and unfinished, celebrating the imperfection. It is more about a reference point that pushes beauty away from being traditional pretty or ‘pin up’. An arch-less brows, a winded burn cheek, a pallid skin tone and smoky eyes, it is all about ghostly and haunted look.

Reb-elle

Make it beautiful and then roughly smudge it out. The focus is never on perfection, infact it is more about bringing out the flaws. It is certainly inspirational to see this trend embrace both the features and flaws of real women, regardless of whether or not they conform to conventional beauty.

Spiritual-eyes

The makeup tells a story and that’s exactly what this trend does; showing the inner demons of a strong woman. Greys, gun metals and charcoals being used not only used on the eyes, but on the contouring and lip shading as well, accompanied by copper colours to give that raw, burned impression.

Au-currant

The trend depicts dark and intense lip shades against matte and paled skin. This trend uses deep reds, currents, purples and blacks on the lips. The eyes are either left bare, or they are contoured with an orange or red-based shadow that repeats the haunting looks we see in the Spiritual-eyes trend.

Perspex-tive

The high planes of the face are shined to the maximum using lip gloss. The trend uses creamy textures and contrasts areas of matte skin against the zones of high shine. Simply apply a cream or liquid highlight and built it up as desired to increase the shine intensity. Opt for peach-pink lip shade and blush, flick out your eyeliner and elongate your eyebrows.

Lauren Gottlieb has a message for India: “Unchain the Elephants: Ban Animal Circuses”.

The American contemporary dancer, who shot to fame in India with the film and dance reality show, shot an ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) anti-circus campaign.

In the photos, Lauren is seen dressed in grey shorts and a top, standing in front of a chained inflatable life-size elephant replica with her hands shackled, carrying a placard with the message.

Peta has been urging the Indian government to ban the use of animals in circuses for a long time. It is now appealing to the Ministry of Environment and Forests, the Central Zoo Authority and the Animal Welfare Board of India to implement the ban immediately.

The Met’s Costume Institute is presenting a show titled “Charles James: Beyond Fashion,” focusing on America’s best-known couturier Charles James and his sculptural work at its spring exhibition.

The show will showcase James’ entire life, including the years he dressed society leading figures like Millicent Rogers, Austine Hearst and Dominique de Menil. The exhibition will feature some 100 pieces by James like wrap-over trousers, body-hugging sheaths, ribbon capes and dresses, spiral-cut garments and poufs. There will also be some iconic ball gowns from the late Forties and early Fifties such as the Four Leaf Clover, the Butterfly, The Taxi dress, Diamond designs and Swan.
