The glorious years of designer Giorgio Armani and his archive of beautiful lavish designs came alive at a recent exhibition titled, ‘Eccentrico’ at Armani’s headquarters in Milan.

The exhibition was unveiled after Emporio Armani’s Spring Summer 2013 showcasing in Milan and traces his 25 years of career in designing. On display are more than 50 beautifully crafted couture pieces from the house of Armani besides a range of accessories.

The exhibit includes a variety of pieces ranging from iconic pieces to few outlandish ones. It comprises of lavish gowns, hats made of fans, Lady Gaga’s metallic costume and bead accessories et al.   

The rock stars and yesteryear Bollywood Hollywood trivia have been cloyingly there since ages – it’s time for fashion icons to bask in the glory.

Well, the heavyweights of fashion have been comically portrayed by former fashion editor of an International fashion glossy in his new range cartoon t-shirts. The illustrations of the visages of 16 fashion biggies like Karl Lagerfeld, Dolce & Gabbana, Tom Ford, Anna Wintour and Kate Moss come alive in their true essence on white t-shirts.

Whether it’s the signature black shades of Karl and Anna or the accentuated pot of Donatella Versace, the illustrations are done in a tongue-in-cheek manner.       

 The Kolkata-based designer Jyotee Khaitan recently launched her exclusive festive collection at Kimaya, DLF Emporio in New Delhi.

The collection has exquisite hand-crafted pieces blues, pinks, oranges and reds with some exotic pearl and sequins embroidery. The range exuding classy chic elegance alos employs silver applique and crystal work making a substantial statement.

About the launch in Delhi, the designer who has had draped some of the most illustrious names in India, said, “Many of my clients from around the world were finding it cumbersome to come to Kolkata every time to buy my collections, hence I decided to make my label available at a more convenient place and the first city that came to my mind was Delhi. In Delhi, there was no better place to do justice to my handcrafted pieces than DLF Emporio and Kimaya.”

The storied fashion designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed showcased his latest bridal collection in the Capital, of late.

The regality came alive in the maiden collection of Narendra Kumar Bridal Couture, offering an elegant, fresh approach on traditional styles for the modern brides. The collection exuding classicism with a modern twist took inspiration from classical ballet traditions and the compositions of one of the last great representatives of Romanticism in Russian classical music, Sergei Rachmaninoff.

The structured silhouettes in muted hues offered a lot of interesting gold work. Be it the fitted jackets or voluminous skirts, the collection spelled royalty.

Designer Maheka Mirpuri’s Festive collection 2012 was lately unveiled at the Taj Palace, Mumbai – accompanied by poetic renditions and an amorous dance recital accomplished by live musical performance.

The evening which opened with a flutist setting in the tempo saw models walking down a rectangular ramp with stairs coming down and adorned with floral chandeliers, replacing a regular ramp.
