Kareena Kapoor is all set to walk down the aisle to be Mrs Saif Ali khan and one person who is making sure that she looks every bit of royalty on her D day ( now that she will be the begum of Pataudi) is celebrated fashion designer Ritu Kumar. The avant garde designer will be recreating Sharmila Tagore’s wedding outfit which will be passed on as a part of family heirloom.

The wedding attire which was passed onto to Sharmila herself by her mother-in-law was too recreated by Ritu Kumar. The traditional bridal attire consisted of a kurta , farshi , pajama and dupatta made of rust and gold tissues with contrast to the soft green satin goti at the hem  along with its neckline , sleeve ends , hem and slide slits of the knee length kurta edged with decorative zardozi border. The designer recalls the experience of reviving the old heirloom of the Pataudi family as a challenge. It took a minimum of ten to twelve craftspeople and 4 months of time to recreate the splendour of the ancient costume with fabrics woven on old naksha looms of Benaras. Needless to say the result was inspirational giving its original rich look.  All we can say is that soon to be Begum Kareena is surely in good hands.

We are just grains of sand; we come empty handed and go empty handed. What we leave behind is our dust..
