Breathtaking works by the royal silversmith to the Maharaos of kutch was on sale at Bonhams. A pear shaped claret jug, with a serpent curled around its handle – going under the hammer at Bonhams Islamic and Indian Art auction – is causing a stir amongst collectors of Indian silver.

Made in the last decade of the nineteenth century it comes from the workshop of Oomersi Mawji, royal silversmith to the Maharaos of Kutch and perhaps the most well-known silversmith of his time. The jug is one of ten stunning silver works estimated to sell for £40,000 to £70,000 in total. Prices range from £1,000 -£1,500 and £15,000 to £20,000.

This claret jug exemplifies Oomersi Mawji’s best work. With its distinctive snake handle, it belongs to a small group of which a similar example sold for £21,600 in these salerooms at Bonhams in 2009.
Alice Bailey, Head of Bonhams Indian and Islamic Department, comments: "This  is a stunning example of O.M. craftsmanship at his best. Another O.M. work of similar top quality was recently acquired by the Museum of Fine Arts, Virginia and is currently on display. This presents a rare opportunity to collect an outstanding piece by the most celebrated Indian silversmith"

For his latest spring-summer 2013 collection fashion designer Rajdeep Ranawat took inspiration from the breathtaking architecture of Greece and presented his collection named SANTORINI. The designer who is renowned for his nature inspired collections tried capturing the essence of Santorini through its clear blue sky, the little white houses, the colorful burst of bougainvillea’s, the blue and white churches, the endless view of sea along with the spectacular sunset colored horizons which he personally photographed and then printed onto the clothes, making each piece a work of art.

The whole collection is mostly made in ivory accomplished with vibrant colors like Aruba blue, Raspberry , Calypso coral , Parakeet green , Mandarin and Banana yellow. For the wispy gowns , khaftans  and the chic bolero jackets the designer used rich fabrics like pure silk , silk chiffon , silk satin , tulle, and silk georgette giving the whole collection a gloriously extravagant and ethereal look.

The nature inspired collection was further enriched with pearl and metallic buttons , subdued  with Swarovski elements highlights and metal chains. A men’s wear range was also introduced along with an array of accessories comprising of handbags, totes , bright embroidered clutches, shoes and jewellery using complementary prints , hand picked corals/shells and embellishments to complete the collection.

Sergei Grinko calls its new Women’s collection, "Solaris", in homage to the famous novel by S. Lem (1961), as everyone remembers; "Solaris" is the story of a deep intrinsic harmony between the human being and his place of origin: nature. The designer emphasizes and elaborates in his typical style and three-dimensional colored with shades of pale pastel tones ranging from lavender to peach, pale green to indigo, and in some cases completely white or completely blacks. The accessories are based on a reinterpretation of the futuristic jewel of art deco style, also you see some wonderful bags and clutches to complete the collection.

Super glam and chic street style is seen in Dean and Dan SS13 collection. The biker hats, junky bracelets, the pearls and gold chains, the skinny sexy look. It seems all a fun and sexy ride; starting the show with undergarment style with lot of funky jewelries, biker jacket with pink hot pant, denim hot skirt with customized belt, pink small polka jacket, printed with sequenced work on white jacket, transparent knitted long dress, cheetah printed mini and long dress.
The collection looks to me as awaken of ferre; truly architectural inspired. It’s a revamp of the 80’s signature in a modern day wearing making it look very sober and perfect for the brand. The all black and white look along with reptile printed leather at certain parts makes it look very luxurious and sophisticated.

Though after a year of hard work the designer duo found a right path to the bankrupted brand but still the internal problems are still alive. Let’s  hope the brand will survive and continues its best.
