The Gadda Cycle Throne is a humorous symbiosis of bicycle seats and bales of fabric, which are commonly transported by bicycles. The idea of a chair as a static bicycle is reiterated through a bold use of recycled form and a play on function. The piece uses finest Indian silk, steel and recycled bicycle parts to come to life.
Madonna
When it comes to pop diva Madonna things are bound to travel the never-seen-before trajectories. And her MDNA concert tour is coming up as a repository of fashion surprises.
The tour costumes revealed include the iconic conical bra for which the singer has reunited with Jan Paul Gaultier. The revived look features conical bustier with peplum effect, button-up white shirt, tie, black wide leg trousers and leather gloves.
Apart from this androgynous look, other designs include shoes by Prada, Swarovski crystal warrior outfit by Arianne Phillips, a metal mesh and a costume by Alexander Wang.
Armani Rumored to Step Down
The 77-year-old Italian fashion designer running the storied eponymous label, known for its clean and tailored lines in the fashion circuit, seems like planning to embrace the rocking chair and romanticize his halcyon days.
The Italian media is abuzz with the news of the designer leaving the brand to a foundation these days. The rumors are making the rounds that the plausible retirement of Armani is in the pipeline and figuring out the way to move on but he is least likely to sell to private equity firms interested in short term returns, or to private investors with no understanding of fashion.
Queen
Going as a royal commentator of Queen’s Diamond Jubilee for France 2 television, Karl Lagerfeld sketched Queen.
It was during the broadcast that the designer put pen to paper and came up with Queen Elizabeth’s flotilla outfit – with a few modifications. The designer, who previously commented that he would have dressed the queen in a cape prettier than her shawl, posted the picture of the sketch on twitter.
Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Outfit is designed by Angela Kelly, the Senior Designer of Queen, and got positive reviews from fashion world.
Raf Simons x Fred Perry
The new head at Dior, Raf Simons makes headlines again by collaborating with British sportswear label Fred Perry.
The designer who previously was associated with the label for seven years till last year has renewed his partnership and will be seen at Men’s Fashion Week, to be held in this June.
Showing the heritage of the brand the soon-to-be-unveiled Spring Summer 2013 line will have more than 25 different styles on the showcasing.
Cocktail Ring of the Year
The Couture Design Awards 2012, held in Las Vegas recently, awarded internationally acclaimed jewellery designer Stephen Webster for one of his exotic design.The one-of-a-kind cocktail ring "The Temptation of Eve" portraying the devilish serpent in the creation story by British jewellery designer Stephen Webster was unanimously voted as the winner of the Diamond Jewellery over 20k category by a panel of top industry judges at the awards.
Set in 18ct gold with 6 carats of white diamonds and a single 5carat brilliant-cut Forevermark Diamond clasped in the serpent’s coiled tail, this exquisite couture ring is a sparkling representation of Webster’s unmistakable design creativity and superb craftsmanship.
Tom Sachs for Nike
The contemporary artist known to use different mediums to present his work, Tom Sachs recently joined forces with sportswear brand Nike to create an eclectic capsule collection.
The Space Program collection takes its inspiration from planet Mars and what comes to the fore is a range of shoes, futuristic kind of jackets and totes. The designer who is known to use his signature bricolage style using everyday objects lends his magic to the collection by creating the pieces like Mars Yard Shoe,
Marsfly Jacket, elements trench and Lightweight totes.
The gold hued jackets with hood, nerdy printed trenches and transparent bags are the highlights of the collection.
Prada FW 12 Men Ad Campaign
The season of the release of fashion ad campaigns sees a star-laden one by Prada. The latest Fall Winter 2012 menswear campaign of the brand features Hollywood’s leading men like Adrien Brody, Jamie Bell, Garrett Hedlund, Willem Dafoe and Gary Oldman in dapper avatars.
The campaign shot by David Sims represents a cross-generational broadening of the face of Prada Menswear, as portrayed by men from different eras wearing different emotions on their faces while standing tall donning an eclectic Prada collection.
The Launch of bika Swimwear
International Celebrity Swimwear Designer Ambika Sanjana who counts the likes of Eva Longoria and Maria Carey as her clients is all set to launch her bika Swimwear at the luxurious fashion store CREO in Mumbai.The launch of the Raputani collection on June 7, 2012 will see the range of resort wear abundant with colors and styles. The collection has selectively chosen the rich culture of Rajasthan for its inspiration. Rajasthan motifs are intricate and show off the rich flora and fauna of the state. The colors are particularly vibrant to offset the earthy hues of the deserts around.
