Dressed in Red WineIt was back in 2007 when textile artist Donna Franklin came up with a living fungus dress banking upon its color changing properties, and now she is eyeing red wine to design womenswear range.

The designer has collaborated with a team of scientists from the University of Western Australia who created a leather-look-like substance by adding bacteria to red wine. The project redefining the prodDressed in Red Wineuction of woven materials aims at creating a bacterial fermented seamless garment that forms without a single stitch.

The fabric is created by adding a bacteria called acetobacter in wine to give a layer of scum like surface which is further dried on a mannequin to get the desired shape. The tissue paper like fiber is being worked upon by researchers to lend strength to it.
