“A Timeless Affaire” is inspired by Manav Gangwani’s interpretation of a rendezvous between dreams and reality transcending space and time.The designer has explored a fifth dimension solely entrenched in the realms of fantasy where desire merges with superstition to makes dreams come alive.

In this collection Manav has delved into the myriad complexities of human emotions and has created a vision of splendor, which is truly overwhelming. It empowers with unparalleled grandiose and accentuates the indisputable strength and beauty that is an intrinsic part of a woman.

“When I design, I bring to life the image of a woman which is latent in my mind. I create fashion for the way I want to project today’s multi dimensional woman. I am guided purely by my instincts not by rules,” says Manav.

The colours, fabrics, embroideries all lend a heady mix of light & shadow dazzling with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS to make the collection truly timeless.

Exquisite embroidery, delicate and detailed workmanship, SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS are used imaginatively and lavishly in this collection, adding glamour. Moving away from his signature style, Manav has artfully added Gota work treated in a completely unusual manner.

Gold dust georgette, Italian chiffon, French lame, sequined fabric, shimmer net…intricately patterned brocade, silk velvet, French lace, duchess satin make this collection exceptionally distinctive!!!!

Volume and movement, inspired by spontaneity create silhouettes of effortless elegance, warrior woman like exaggerated collar detail and armour like structures, sheer voluminous skirts with layering, flowing, sensuous gowns,  flared lehengas, novel anarkalis and suits and of course Manav’s staple glamorous saree are juxtaposed together to make an eye catching array of designs.
 

The Asian Achievers Awards 2011 celebrated by Human Achievers Foundation on 7th July 2011 at the Hotel Gloria, Dubai, UAE has been set-up with the single objective of appreciating excellence from all over the world, and to inspire further excellence in the youth of the continent.

Pria Kataaria Puri was awarded by the Asian Community for her distinctive contribution to the fashion industry.  Pria Kataaria Puri excitedly states, “It is a superb feeling to win an award from Former sports Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar. It is an unfathomable emotion and most importantly being so lucky to be given this prestigious award simply raises the bar higher and gives me the drive to work harder and change my own yardstick.”    

The Achievers Awards platform provided by the foundation brought Achievers to stand united under one roof for the betterment of the Asian Community.  The occasion was graced by various central and state ministers, dignitaries and eminent personalities. People attending the event included Arbaaz khan, Ministers from India, Nobel Prize Winner and many more eminent personalities from Business and social fraternity.

Cotton Council International, a non-profit organization devoted to the promotion of cotton lately celebrated Cotton Day, a day dedicated to celebrate the diversity of cotton, in New Delhi through a series of showcasing melding cinema, fashion and photography to feature the most fashionable fiber – cotton.

The evening was glamorized by an extravagant show by the fashion designer Rina Dhaka who paid tribute to cotton by showcasing her latest cotton ensembles. Rina nurtured colors and weaves in the collection, adding traditional values to contemporary fashions. She utilized a variety of techniques and textures from pleats and crinkles to laces, cutwork and hand embroidery, demonstrating the richness of cotton fabrics. Actor Zareen Khan walked the ramp for the designer in a dazzling cotton number.

After her concluding show, Rina Dhaka said, “Cotton Day is a unique concept developed by CCI. I really enjoyed the bringing together of the various elements of cotton in the same platform. Since I am a cotton fan and most of my designs centre on cotton, I was delighted to be a part of it.”
The event opened with a photography exhibit ‘Magic of Cotton’ which captured how cotton is transformed in everyday life to meet our every need and occasion. ‘Common Thread’, a film by director Mihir Desai, reflected on how cotton connects the world, crossing boundaries and culture. The exhibit also featured Supima Cotton Art installation by Yogesh Chaudhary, which showcased cotton in four characteristics – fit, fall, flow and frame.
 A fashion show presenting the latest denim collection by Arvind Mills, showed the workwear range mixing rugged, outdoor look with young, fun elements to soften the mood.

Also present at the occasion, Agnieszka Fizol, Cotton council International Representative, Program Head, India, said, “Cotton Day takes the audience on a journey through how others use and see cotton, how it impacts people’s lives across the world, and what creative possibilities exist in skilled hands.” Continuing further she adds, “The event also brought together all segments of the cotton value chain from mills and manufacturers to brands, retailers and designers, to share inspirations on how to take cotton to new heights.”
 

The celebrated fashion designer, Arshiya Fakih Eappen is a name to reckon with wearable fashion mingling International trends with Indian sensibility. Coming from a business family that has made significant contributions to the garment industry in India, Arshiya after graduating from the Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics took the route to the glittering alleys of fashion which later saw the distinctive fashion label ‘Araiya’ coming into existence.

Meanwhile, Arshiya led by her creative nature, went to study fine Arts at the J. J. Institute of Fine Arts where she topped the Dean’s Merit List and won a scholarship for extended studies. She headed to the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bombay and then to the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York where she received the Presidential Scholarship Award. She earned her degree in Fashion Designing, specializing in knitwear, and graduated with Cum Laude honors.

 Before returning to India, Arshiya worked and interned in New York with designers such as Ralph Lauren, Onyx Noire and Neil Beiff.

Araiya was formally launched in Bombay in November 1998 and almost immediately, within weeks of its launch, the label caught the eyes of all and sundry including countless celebrities and luminaries such as Malaika Arora, Lisa Ray, Priya Scindia, Rahul Bose,Yana Gupta & Zeenat Aman amongst others. The overwhelming response to Araiya’s fashion statements prompted the setting up of three outlets in Bombay and numerous fashion showcasing at LFW and WIFW.

Araiya’s reputation is built upon its vibrant styles, colors, fabrics & innovative ensembles, its foundation centered on its sensitive attentiveness to detail. Its philosophy draws inspiration from individual clients, to create signature apparel reflecting its wearer’s unique personality

The label designs and produces garments for films, TV Serials, reality shows and ad campaigns. Besides it also designs for established brands such as Shoppers Stop, Pantaloon and Westside etc.  

Currently, the label Araiya is available at the established Multi Designers Fashion Stores like Fuel, Kimaya, FFolio, Ayamik and Samsara in India. Abroad, the fashion houses like Style Boutique in South Africa, Brahathi, Language, Princess Fashion and Lubna Amiri in Dubai, and Sanskrit in Hong Kong retails the label.
