Fashion as they say is a statement and if that holds true, designer is all about making a statement says Sadan Pande. Trying to find words in fabric, expressions in color and attitude in trends, cuts and design, Sadan graduated from NIFT in 1999.

With fashion at the backdrop and creative urge at the forefront, Sadan plunged into fashion styling. After working in the export industry for five years, he free-lanced for Bollywood, music videos and advertising campaigns.

With a brief stint with some of the best known fashion houses, he decided to swim on his own label and thus began the journey of self-motivation and expression. He launched the prêt label for women in 2006, SYLPH BY SADAN. His distinctive style is a fusion of fabric, color, luxury and meticulous tailoring, which is very Indian in sensibility yet international in appeal.

Among all the contemporary names, he finds Rohit Bal and Rajesh Pratap Singh as his favorite ones. Currently retailing through Ogaan & Studio 16 in Delhi, Aurain Nagpur, Zarah Bangalore, Onionpeel Bombay, Nautanki Ahmedabad, Sadan firmly believes that there is no shortcut to success and advised budding designers the same as he believes in pursuing his passion with honesty and aims to develop a wider audience for his label

His affair with crafts and textile began at a very early age…

Amongst the new brigade of fashion designers, Mrinalini Gupta is all set with her artistic instincts. An alumnus of Convent of Jesus & Mary, Delhi, Mrinalini started her designing career at NIFT, Kolkata just after school. She furthered her training in design with MAHARISHI London & honed her skills under Rajesh Pratap Singh, practicing design addition and subtraction. Dodging modernity and tradition, Mrinalini always seeks to infuse her love for designing with a single binding philosophy and an amicable tolerance for minimalism and maxima-lism.

On being asked where her inspiration originates from, she retorts that everyday everything inspires me as inspiration cannot be taken from one source. She feels that working with Rajesh Pratap Singh really churned her creative horses and bestowed with fashion insight, apart from him its Sabhyasachi, J.J Valaya and Nitin Bal Chauhan.

Sharing her thoughts on fashion, she says, it’s all about grooming your personality as a whole. With modern style and signature, her creativity lies in abstract patterns, geometrical shapes and lines than classic & contemporary clothing.
