This is one self confident guy, essentially Punjabi by nature. Family and food are the two things that bind him to life and love. He has spent almost his entire life out of his home town Ludhiana studying in boarding schools and later college but for him family comes first.

Different from a lot of the herd coming to the industry in quest of instant fame and success; this is one guy who wants to go step by step and not just hurry up to success. He wants to be a self made person not propelled by influence of a rich father or uncle. An athlete by nature, he finds great comfort in challenging himself to sports.

He has been part of this industry for over a year and has been spotted in shoots for Hero Honda, Monte Carlo, magazines like Men’s Health and M and also on the ramp for Rohit Bahl and Varun Bahl. An interesting mix of the modern and the traditional this is Sayush Nayyar, the Punjabi guy.

Family and Academics…
I come from the land of Punjab, Ludhiana where my family still resides. My schooling has been from a boarding school in Simla and after which I went to Pune to study B.Com from Symbiosis. Currently have taken out a dedicated year to follow modeling as a full time career and shifted to New Delhi for the same. I also plan to follow an MBA through correspondence while I pursue modeling.

Parent’s reaction to your choice of modeling as a career…
Well, I essentially come from a business background. My father doesn’t really agree to modeling and tries every now and then to call me back to join the family business. However, my mom is a constant pillar of support for me. I also have a younger brother who cheers me on.

First modeling assignment…
My first assignment was with Mirari jewellery for their print advertisement. This was two years back.

Greatest achievement till date…
Couple of years more and I will be able to answer this question. Professionally I still have to do and achieve a lot before I can call something my greatest achievement.

Idea of an ideal date
Well my ideal date would be something set under the stars somewhere in the late evening. There will be a pathway in a swimming pool where I’ll be sitting with my partner having a conversation that is accompanied with some fine wine or champagne with a different cuisine may be Mexican.

When not modeling what are you most likely to be found doing…
Well, I live with friends here in Delhi. I work out most of the time or indulge in some sort of sports. It can be cricket or soccer or anything else that keeps me on my feet.
Another thing that I have to do every day is to go out and have a cup a coffee somewhere. I just can’t stay at home the whole day; I have to go out at least once.

Most touching moment of your life…
The most touching moment of my life was when I got my first pay check and I gave it to my grandmother. The look on her face said it all, that was indeed the most touching moment of my life.

Views on Indian vs. Western models…
It is great to see international models working here in India. It gives us a lot of confidence as well as helps up realize and find our place in the world. This also gives us a reality check to evaluate our place in the industry.

One thing I must say is that with the fusion of the international models coming to India, our industry has also seen a rapidly changing scenario where models are going for a leaner body than a muscular look.

His store attracts the creme buyers, fashionistas and socialites. He had worked with JJ Valaya for a considerable amount of time, polishing his skills on the job before he finally branched out and launched his own label.

For both women’s and men’s wear, Kunal is inspired by the regal look with emphasis on the right proportions of fabric, embellishments, cut and design. Moreover, couture allows Kunal the flexibility of creative permutations and combinations, something that ‘pret’ or ready-to-wear doesn’t.

In fabrics, he plays with a lot of brocade, banarasi silks, tanchois, velvet and veloure, and also experiments with his own fabrics dying and re-dying fabrics sometimes to get the desired result. As far as embellishments are concerned, zardozis, swarovskis, semi-precious stones and junk jewellery are matched to style the ensemble.

As a designer, Kunal is very experimental with his designs and believes in aesthetics springing out of different elements in appropriate proportions. Embroidery, surface ornamentation is part of the large theme, whereas cuts and styles are played around with to make a garment stand out each time.

A 22 year old Libran, I’m a simple guy…prefer home food…staying home…read a lot…..very careful about my body….a little stubborn sometimes…and think a lot at times….about life and goals n stuff…you might even brand me as too thoughtful… otherwise…calm…..not a party person really….handful of friends.. I hate people with attitude….always down to earth with whatever little I do…I recently finished work on myself and have successfully made a transition for being the leaner me to the muscular me.

If you want me to list out, that I have done in the eight months in this field, I think I can sum it up to something like this:
On the fashion scene, I was part of  Men’s Week,  Karan Johar- Varun Bahl Couture Week , Will’s Fashion Week , Cosmopolitan film fare shows,…n loads of ramp shows…during various fashion weeks..for a number of designers… Rohit Bal, Rahul & Rohit, Varun Bahl, n loads of them..I’m bad with names…haha..

In advertising, I was with Panasonic and in the Tommy Hilfiger card launch. For Print, I have shot with Men’s Health, The Man and M magazine. I was also part of catalogue shoot Varun Bahl, Tahir Sultan…n stuff.

Oh I have also worked for the Hero Honda commercial, home shop and Zoom TV. All this in 8 months…n a lot more…which I can’t recall…lol..

Family and Academics…
I am an all in all Delhite… my parents essentially are from Haryana, however I was born and brought up here in Delhi. Well academically I am about to finish my final year doing automobile engineering, my bro too is an engineer.

Parent’s reaction to your choice of modeling as a career…
Well my decision initially came as a shock to my parents..tell you the real story, I come from a background which has always has been firmly rooted in academics and my out of the blue decision to enter modeling was rather disconcerting to my parents in the beginning. However as they started to see my growth and the way I moved ahead in the field they were reassured and happy. Also the recognition that I won was also a welcome factor in the family.

First modeling assignment…
My first modeling assignment was something that was arbitrary, yet it was my initial step in this field even if it was just a chance occasion. My induction in this field occurred with a show for a fashion institute in Delhi at NIFT for their annual fest.

Greatest achievement till date…
I think that my true achievement in this field was the way I worked on my body and changed my persona from the leaner and thin guy to the carved sculpture everyone appreciates now. Also in just a time span of two months I became a pool model and was picked up by numerous designers to showcase their collections. All this has been a stupendous accomplishment for me.

Idea of an ideal date
Well I’m a rather lazy person when it comes to dates. I think an ideal date for me will be me sitting at either mine or her house and chilling out with some good conversation and food. Also, I   find that going out for a date is rather distracting and one can’t exactly place their mind in one place for a good soul session.

When not modeling what are you most likely to be found doing…
Oh! As I already told you that I am an engineer in the making, I have enough exams happening every alternate week to keep me occupied. Apart from coping up with those I love to hang out with friends and work out at the gym.

Views on Indian vs. Western models…
I think that the grass is always greener on the other side. Both Indian and western models have their own respective markets. Some think that western models are fairer and taller which is a better combination for modeling however there is no comparison to the Indian beauty. However, when we talk of the fashion scene it is not just India but the whole world and fashion itself has manifested in India as an imitation of his western counterpart.  So there is always something to learn from them for our fraternity.

YOUR PIECE OF ADVICE FOR UPCOMING MODELS: Always work on developing the right attitude. Physically, rest is all a day’s job. Read and learn a lot about fashion and understand it in its true sense, only then you will be able to live up to your true potential.

Issey Miyake drew inspiration to create, for spring 2010, fragrance bottles in an unexplored matter. A new story tells of the meeting of water and wood.

L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme is housed in unique new bottles for the season.

A zest of yuzu adds freshness while sage and coriander leaves give off their aroma, the spices, nutmeg and cinnamon, lift its authentic and masculine character.

The elements change into opulent amber notes, finally disclosing the sandalwood, geranium, water lily and vetiver.

A wood in natural brownish tones was chosen for L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme – Edition Bois. A contrasting matte silver cap accentuates the bottle’s authentic, masculine character.

The L’Eau d’Issey Fleur de bois bottle is made of a pinkish-grey aged wood and features a matte white metallic cap.

For this edition, the women’s eau de toilette presents a new olfactory variation created by Jacques Cavallier: L’Eau d’Issey – Fleur de Bois

The freshness of blackcurrant and mandarin orange awakens sprays of flowers cradled by the ebb and flow. The scents encountered along the way: rose essence, mimosa absolute from Grasse, a touch of freesia for the softness.

Wood carried away by the current brings character and depth: tossed about by the waves, Virginia cedar mingles its essence with aquatic notes.

L’EAU D’ISSEY POUR HOMME Wood Edition EDT 100ml          Rs 3,500

Availability:  At select departmental stores across the nation.
