His inspirations have always come from the mundane things he sees around. Magnificent buildings, beautiful pieces of architecture, a scrunched up piece of paper, etc. Fashion is not just 3d for Arjun, it also has a 4th dimension to it. When you wear an outstanding ensemble your attitude, the walk, the feel is given an instant uplift; he tries and carries that through in the garment’s behavior as well, upon being worn. This is a feature of his signature design style.

At the Indian Premier London Fashion Week, Arjun Agarwal will be presenting a line of cocktail dresses inspired by the musical notes and modern architecture. The different symbols used to write down a musical composition have inspired the cuts of the dresses. The Indian art of embroidery has been incorporated into emphasizing these lines and modern architectures enthused in modern patterns for creating sensual pieces for every woman’s wardrobe.

Kolkata based designer Jaya Misra launches her Desi Girl Collection at the upcoming IPLFW. She has created a look that would showcase India’s ethnic style with its maximum glory to the London audience.

Desi Girl draws its inspiration from the myriad shades of India. What sets this unique collection apart is its penchant for simplicity which the designer feels is intrinsic to Indian fashion. “India is a land of diversities and Indian fashion is complex in the sense that on one hand it upholds simplicity while on the other hand it celebrates richness. Taking for instance the contrast between a dhoti and a bridal wear, this contradiction forms the essence of Indian fashion and Jaya has tried to capture it in her collection.

Thus the Desi Girl collection has a basic white which is interspersed with a plethora of shades. In the form of a royal blue or dark shocking pink open jacket, the garments interfuse the pristine beauty of white with the delightful and rich shades that are characteristic to Indian culture. What sets them apart are the sleek silhouettes, smart cuts and yet a romantic flowing feels.

Naveen and Deepak Mehra presented four of the most exquisite exhibit of couture jewellery at AKM Mehrasons boutique, South Extn, New Delhi. The collections were aptly titled as The Benaras Collection, The Jharoka Collection, The Marigold Collection and The Tree of Life Collection.

Showcased in three beautifully crafted trunks, the Benaras collection took inspiration from Benarasi brocades and other enduring symbols. The Jharokha collection is a finely crafted tribute to their legacy, smoothly finished round accents, the fine diamond slivers, give fashion an inimitable style of mosaic.

India is not just a nation but a big idea. A country where optimism is held sacred, alongside selflessness and sacrifice just like the Marigold, which is as tenacious as the Indian mindset, blossoming in every season- signifying optimism and harmony in diversity. It is this that reflects in Marigold collection whereas Tree of Life collection is a uniquely contemporary interpretation of ethnicity. Each piece is testimony of the quest for that ultimate feeling of contentment.

In the history of Indian jewellery, AKM has steadily created a name for itself. Over the decades, they have been the jewelers to the judicious and distinguished. The business has passed through several generations and is today managed by scions of family.

This year luxury jewelry company, Chopard, is celebrating its 150th anniversary in style.  On Thursday night, a small gathering of A-List celebrities joined Chopard at The Frick Collection in New York City to help celebrate its anniversary.  Celebrities included Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson and Christina Ricci, who shared some laughs and posed for photos together.  Gwyneth chose an elegant, full-length Antonio Berardi dress, while Kate was stylish in a short purple look and Christina brightened things up in a lovely green gown.  The guest list also included actress Claire Danes, designer Georgina Chapman, singer Natalie Cole and performer of the night John Legend.

Chopard is celebrating its 150th birthday by introducing its Animal World collection comprised of 150 unique animal-inspired pieces, which also happens to be the largest collection its ever made devoted to a single theme. The collection required a total of 20,000 hours of work to complete and involved setting over 250,000 stones. Chopard co-president and artistic director Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele told WWD "I really wanted to make them like sculptures." From the emerald-stuffed, fairy tale-ish frog ring to the stunning monkey pendant, Chopard’s Animal World collection is as visually stunning as it is impeccably designed and crafted.  Check out pics from the party and a few pieces from the collection.

He studied commerce before giving up to his creative instincts and pursued fashion designing form the JD Institute of Fashion. Since then Rocky S has made quite a name for himself in the fashion fraternity of India and his ingeniously created designs are not only creatively applauded, but have changed the trend. Rocky S graces the Grand Finale show at Indian Premier London Fashion Week on 12th May, Fashionfad.in divulges in his fashion kit to dig out fashion worthy information on topics stirring the fashion industry in India.

How and why did you choose to be a part of IPLFW?
I was approached by the event co-ordinators, Idea Weavers, and I instantly agreed to do the IPLFW. I think it’s an amazing concept, we have London and Paris Fashion weeks, showcasing Indian designers like me at London is such an honor and I am delighted to be a part of it. It is great for global exposure and helps in expanding my market as well.

What is the kind market or Buyers that this show would cater to?
Since it is an international event, the level of exposure is going to be much larger than back home in India. The potential market is going to spread across the globe which is amazing for designers like me, especially when we get the opportunity to spread our culture and innovation throughout the globe. The kind of buyers expected includes foreign nationals as well as Indian nationals staying out there. We all know how much Indian clothes are appreciated all over the world, and this will help in connecting with them at a personal level. It will be great!

Tell us something about the collection that you would be showcasing here…
The collection I will be showcasing covers the authentic quintessence of lavishness. The collection is an affluent zenith of rich and sumptuous lehengas, graceful saris, modish chudidar kurtas and lavish sherwanis. It is quite varied with inspirations from Rajasthan and Istanbul and is awfully feminine.

How do you look back on your journey as a designer?
When I sit and look back at my journey through the years that have passed by, I feel content and satisfied, at the same time I feel excitement and nervousness for the days to come. A journey of a designer never comes to an end, it continues for as long as you want it to. Inspiration and imagination never die, they only grow with time. I, myself am excited to see what my future designs will be like. Nonetheless it sure is a great feeling to knowI’ve come so far and done pretty well for myself. But I still quench for more and that keeps me going and helps me prove myself every time.

The clothing you create is amazing. How do you keep going even through the hard times, or design blocks?
Thank you so much, you are very kind. I live by the philosophy
"Disappointment in oneself only stems from the knowledge that we CAN do better"
Deep down, we all know what we’re really capable of. The key then, is to figure out what forms of support enable us to be our best. I try to give my best every single time I create a design, the rest is destiny. I cannot control my future but I can plan it well.

What are the fashion essentials that a person should have in order to exude glamour?
A black dress, stilettos, a perfect clutch to go with, minimal yet the right amount of accessories, great hair-do and to top it all off the right Attitude! And you’re good to go glam

What is your thought on the future of fashion?
In an age where everything is created to be better, faster, easier and ready to use at the touch of a finger, the fashion industry certainly isn’t going to get left behind. Already, fashion has begun weaving electronic components into "wearable technology", a preview to what will undoubtedly become the future of fashion.

(Last but not the least) How do you see the future of fashion in India?
Fashion in India has evolved drastically over the years; people have become more fashion-conscious than before. We have trend setters as well as trend followers, it is so great to see some of the designers showcasing such amazing designs and spreading their talent throughout the globe. Fashion has become a necessity in the lives of people and it is wonderful. We have some of the best designers in India, Hollywood Celebes are seen spotting Indian designers and its fabulous. Fashion in India is here to stay!

The collection has been inspired by one of the world’s most renowned architect Daniel Libeskind. The collection emphasizes on folding and unfolding of his structures and the theory of deconstructionism which takes the basic rectangle of the buildings into various shapes. Some of Daniel’s best works includes practical as well as symbolic structures like Jewish Museum in Berlin, Imperial War Museum in Manchester, Spiral extension to V & A Museum in London and master development of WTC.

The collection by Riddhi & Siddhi takes into account the sharp, angular, metallic and gravity defining walls of Daniel’s works. It also throws light on the high tech material that defines his geometry in structures. The colour story includes dark tones of black, electric blue with highlights of mature pinks & Silver.

Raman takes inspiration from life and nature around him. He is inspired by factors like structures and patterns formed by the powerful forces of nature. He is a traveler and a nomad who collects his experiences and put them on his knitting & embroidery. According to him ‘to create is to destroy and to destroy is to create’.

His collection for IPLFW is experimentation with yarns & knitting towards new ideas. There are knitted felt fabric tailored dress with satin frills, in techniques like floats and fur thread insertions. And halter neck top with knitted tights in specially developed boucle yarn capture the attention of the collection.
