Fashion Students to study Case Studies with Weatherization

Lately, London fashion week SS17 collection saw transitional trends, more so with unpredictable weather and global warming are posing a challenge for fashion designers to create clothes, with no idea what the weather will be like when their collections hit the shelves and end up in being sold at heavy discounts.

With largely season less clothing on the shelves in International stores equally in Indian stores, had forced big retailers to hire the services of climatologists. Infact, Fashion Institute of Technology in New York has even launched a new course called “Predictive Analytics for Planning and Forecasting: Case Studies with Weatherization,” and have plan to include more topical weather issues.

The new course is designed with an interest in retail and merchandising, which in turn will help the fashion industry deal with the impact of climate change.

All About Victoria’s Secret Show 2016

This year at VS show Jasmine Tookes will take to the catwalk in Paris wearing the $3million Fantasy bra which is the highpoint of the Victoria’s Secret spectacular every year. While Tookes is as toned and gorgeous as her supernaturally sleek predecessors, but her appointment as this year’s Fantasy bra wearer has marked a change in message as Tookes is the first black woman to be chosen to model the bra in nine years after Selita Ebanks and Tyra Banks.

Meanwhile the Angels have jet to Paris for this year’s fashion show on December 5, all clad in pink t-shirts and skinny jeans. The models danced together in the sunshine before lining up alongside the jet to pose for snaps commemorating the moment.

This year Victoria’s Secret has chosen Paris to host their hugely admired annual runway show.

Le Bal in Paris

430The ultra-chic” le Bal des Débutantes 2016 “was a magical evening of glamour and royalty in Paris, accompanied by their handsome cavaliers, making a grand entry into international high society, at the 24th annual Bal des Débutantes.

Now a prestigious institution, Le Bal des Debutantes, known as le Bal, is touted as “the only debutante ball in the world by invitation only”, where all the Debs wear a different Haute Couture designer. This assemblage brings together 20 young ladies and 20 young gents from well-connected families around the world, often with an established pedigree in the arts or academia, philanthropy, politics and business, along with European aristocrats as well as royals.

This year, the event saw a fresh face from India – Jayati Modi, daughter of Shivani and Samir Modi, Executive Director of Modi Enterprises. Each year, couture houses create an ensemble for each debutante, and dress them for the event. Jayati wore a Vivienne Westwood Couture gown, paired with custom made  jewels by Payal Mehta, the official jewellery partner for the event, who creates a unique piece for each deb, based on her personality and her gown.

Among the other debutantes were Hollywood stars Warren Beatty and Annette Bening’s daughter, Ella Beatty, amongst heiresses from Europe’s aristocratic families, global industrialists and social influencers, such as Donna Yuang from China , Austrian princess Emilia Von Auersberg Breuner , HRH princess Zita de Bourbon Parme , the italian Marchesa , the oldest daughter of football star Luis Figo , lovely french deb Olympia Taittinger mongst others.

Wes Anderson H&M, “Come Together”

Wes Anderson directs H&M’s 2016 Holiday Film, “Come Together,”starring Adrien Brody. The story takes place on a train traveling through a snowy landscape on Christmas Eve where Brody plays the conductor.

“The winter train ride, under Wes Anderson’s direction, is the perfect setting for brand’s holiday collection full of relaxed, wearable elegance.  It’s about mixing the informal with a sense of occasion, capturing the holiday mood for both dressing up and getting cosy with loved ones,” says Pernilla Wohlfahrt, H&M’s Head of Design and Creative Director.

In the film, lone passengers are traveling to join their loved ones for the Christmas holiday, but winter weather conspires to way-lay them.

“This story may resonate more than ever at a time in the world where we could all do with giving a stranger a hug,” says actor Adrien Brody.

Gucci, Blind for Love

Gucci announces the launch of a limited-edition book, Blind for Love – words from an 18th century manuscript by Fanny De Beauharnais that has appeared on several key pieces in Gucci’s recent collections.

The book is a collection of images taken by British Artist & Photographer Nick Waplington, featuring the Gucci Cruise 2017 Fashion Show at Westminster Abbey.

Nick Waplington, known for his raw and unfiltered depiction of British life, captures candid moments in the lead-up to the show at the Westminster Abbey Cloisters in June 2016. He documents behind-the-scenes images during and after the Cruise Show narrating the process from start to finish.

A haunting version of the traditional English ballad ‘Scarborough Fair’ was played at the show. The lyrics of this song run as a refrain throughout the book, complementing the Nick Waplington’s portraits of the Collection that was strongly influenced by England’s cultural heritage.

Published by Assouline, Blind For Love will be limited to 1,000 copies and comes in a slipcase with gilded pages and a painted portrait of Queen Elizabeth I on the front cover. It will be available from 1st December onwards around the world as well at specialty stores like Dover Street Market in London, New York and Tokyo, Colette in Paris, along with selected bookstores like the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.

Planning a vacation this season? There are a few things you should keep in mind to prevent your skin from tanning not only at your travelling destination but also when you are in Flight.

Air travel is a part of almost everyone’s life today. Whether it is for work or a leisurely holiday, most of us find ourselves comfortably seated at 30,000 feet. But what many of us don’t know is that air travel can cause skin tanning. This has implications for mature skin that we may not be aware of.

UV Radiation is stronger, closer to the sun

At 30,000 feet above sea level, we are closer to the sun’s harmful rays. In fact, the UV levels are approximately twice that of the ground. Sun damage is the number one cause for premature aging. Also, for every additional 3000 feet increase in altitude, there is a 15 percent increase in the intensity of UV radiation.

Flying causes tanning

Being exposed to higher levels of UV radiation causes tanning.Skin tanning is caused when a brown pigment called melanin is produced in the body. There are two kinds of radiations, UVA & UVB. UVB radiation damages the upper layer of the skin and prolonged exposure leads to skin burns. UVA radiations more harmful as they penetrate deeper into the skin and lead to premature aging.

Cabin windows don’t protect you against UVA rays

The cabin windows on an airplane can block UVB rays, but minimally filter the more harmful UVA rays.These result in tanning, spots, premature aging and wrinkles.Studies have shown that an hour of flying with the sun beating down on you is equal to 15-20 minutes on a tanning bed!

Different landscapes have different UV reflection intensity

Think you are safe flying through cloud cover with no sun in sight, or over picturesque snowfields? Not quite. Thick clouds and snow-covered areas can reflect up to 85 percent of UV radiation. So unwittingly, you expose your skin to this harmful radiation for extended periods of time leading to irreparable skin damage.

People often commit the mistake of underestimating the power of sun damage to their skin. As skin matures, it needs more care. Simple steps can aid mature skin to retain its elasticity and stay younger longer. UV protection during a flight is a necessity. Remember to always carry a broad spectrum (UVA+UVB) with minimum SPF of 30, good quality sunscreen and stay beautiful eternal.

Tommy Hilfiger Celebrates Exhibitionism

Tommy Hilfiger celebrated the North American launch of EXHIBITIONISM-The Rolling Stones’ first international exhibition.

Tommy Hilfiger has created a capsule collection under the rock-and-roll-inspired ‘Hilfiger Denim’ label that includes iconic imagery from The Rolling Stones. The limited-edition collection features T-shirts, for men and women, with graphics ranging from the gorilla on the “GRRR!” greatest hits album covers to the band’s iconic tongue logo rendered in an exclusive US flag motif and a Pop Art-inspired montage.

Also featuring men’s and women’s jackets, the capsule collection includes satin bombers with embroidered tongue logos, leather jackets with hand-painted Rolling Stones imagery emblazoned on the back, distressed and bleached denim jackets with vintage Stones artwork and utility jackets with customized Stones patches and prints. The women’s offering also includes cut-off distressed denim shorts with badges.
