The year 2015 is been quiet eventful year with so many surprises and changes within. It was a significant year for Indian model Bhumika, who was seen walking the ramp for Balmain, Alberta Ferretti and Stella McCartney. The year also saw John Galliano presenting his first show for Masion Martin Margiela in London while world’s most successful and highly paid supermodel Gisele Bundchen formally announced her retirement from the fashion runway.

1As the year 2015 comes to an end, we discuss about the show internet most freaked about, yes the Ricky Owens Spring summer 2016 show about human backpacks. The arrival of a model wearing a sleeveless long jacket, shorts, and a semi-sheer top, with the woman strapped to her back with her straight legs sticking out, baffled everybody. More so as the designer left immediately after the show to avoid addressing the consequent media frenzy.

He later explained saying, in the Spring women’s collection (Cyclops), the focussed vision being more about nourishment, sisterhood/motherhood and regeneration; women raising women, women becoming women, and women supporting women – a world of women I know little about and can only attempt to amuse in my own small way…Straps can be about restraint but here they are all about support and cradling.

Starting from spring to fall there are plenty of campaigns we notice each year from luxury labels and see the communication strategy used by the designers to convey their inspirations behind each collection through vivid imagery and celebrity cast.

We narrowed our research to bring you the best of the best.

1With the web flooded with slow fashion stories, there is a growing trend within the fashion world for sustainable, ethical clothing. At the forefront of this movement is Carin Mansfield, a designer who devotes herself to the art of “slow fashion”, says BBC.

Lately, Pantagonia started the campaign asking people to buy only what they need, as the clothing firm starts designing clothes that lasts forever. Slow fashion aims to wean us from cheaply made, high-volume, fast-fashion brands, instead, in having us stock our closets with a modest high quality, long-lasting garments, made in a way that doesn’t hurt the environment – or the workforce creating them, a trend which is catching up in Charlotte.

Fast fashion trends begin going from runway to chain-store-at-the-mall making patrons chasing trends lasting only few weeks until the next trend that led to millions of discarded clothing. Consumers are very wary with the fast fashion system, as the process doesn’t take care of workers and the environment.

Slow fashion isn’t a one-size-fits-all theory. Some makers source items locally, others use goods from other states or overseas, but from sources they say are ethical and eco-friendly. Some come with a high price tag; some items are similarly priced to their mass-market counterparts.

It’s still a wait and watch story for others, no sooner people realize and it actually become a trend, needs to be seen!!
