With the end of another fashion week there are thousands of trend-setting-worthy outfits horsing around for well-lit rack space on high streets. High on the hog, they are fighting for space in the glossies, and will glitter in flash bulbs and arch lights. Though most of them had been spotted umpteen times on the ramp before, but the few different ones in their own right will lead the trends next season.
With Spring Summer in concern, we accentuate on form and function, along with creativity to present the trends, catering to your different moods, varying from playful to classy, to sexy.

An Eclectic Look – Mix and Match

The idea of mix and match has gone quite eclectic for coming Spring Summer that many a designers presented their collections deriving different elements from different parts of the world. From gypsies meeting with glam goddesses, the boho chic look is the flavour of the season. Designers like Payal Pratap, Malini Ramani, Atsu Sekhose, Pero by Aneeth Arora, Vineet Bahl and Nida Mahmood presented aesthetically done mix and match of different elements.
Vineet Bahl’s vintage lace churidars were teamed up with kurtas adorned with Moroccan embroideries. Similarly, Nida paired up denims with differently draped saris. And Atsu beautifully merged American sportswear with artistry of North-East. Payal Pratap either fused the elements from Kutch into contemporary silhouettes.

Riot of Prints
If you think Spring Summer is all about flowers on your flowy maxis then you should take a close look at the collections showcased as many of the designers think differently. Though floral motifs are a safe bet for springs but the challenge lies in wearing abstract prints, honeycombs, geometrical prints, Aztec prints, interesting face prints and kitsch prints. Whether it’s James Ferriera’s Ganesha frolicking with cherubs or riotous depiction of cells looking like an abstract painting by Ashish N Soni, the prints are more vibrant and experimental than ever.
Kallol Datta’s splash of paint and troll faces, Ranna Gill’s geometrical prints, Pia Pauro’s kitsch and Surily Goel’s Aztec work only expanded the spectrum of prints rendering life to the outfits.

Of Metal, Wood, Plastic and 3Dimesions
Though chiffons, cottons and silks strutted in their glory on ramp but the presence of other things textured, heavier and lustrous stole the show. The futuristic designs as presented by Rajesh Pratap Singh in the form of shredded, woven and knitted pieces of steel, gold, silver and aluminum were a testimony to the experimental approach of Indian designers.
Similarly, metallic pieces by Kanika Saluja, use of plastic and straw by Rimzim Dadu and Alpana Neeraj’s three-dimensional patterns took the story of warp and weft to a different level.

Classiness of White & Black

If you equate Spring Summers with bright citric hues then you will be having neon hues galore to flaunt in those hot afternoons. But then such hues are being worn since ages. The classiness of black and white or monochromes is the one of the most elegant trends for Spring Summer 2013. Be it the beautifully draped printed dresses by Kallol Datta, Namrata Joshipura’s separates or Gauri & Nainika ruffled gowns, the combination of black and white stood out aesthetically offering a visual feast.

Sexy High Slits and Bare Midriffs

Mind is sexy and if played rightly with, sexual wonders can be achieved. Every seductress in her own right understands the power of subtle skin show, and this fashion week bare midriffs and thigh high slits happened to churn erotica. Though bikinis were there but slits running till armpits and belly button accentuating midriffs had their own charm. Wendell Rodrick, Shivan & Naresh, Malini Ramani, Joy Mitra, Gauri & Nainika and Atsu Sekhose are few of the designers who strolled in these imaginative territories.
