She’s part of a growing influx of American models. Liza comes from New Jersey and is all set to scorch the Desi ramps at the Wills India Fashion Week next week. Here is our chat with the gorgeous 5’10” beauty:

Tells us briefly about your family and schooling?
I have quite a small family that I can count on one hand and I’m actually very close with my aunt, she is my best friend in which I confide in all the time, its very hard to be away from her and not be able to call her at the drop of that hat like I normally can if I were in the states.

Of course I finished all my schooling well to high school, and then I was studying to become a nurse at a college in new jersey where I am from, but then I was scouted to be a model and started traveling and working so much and I could not keep up with school, and since I pay for my schooling I decided that I would like to hold back on it for another few years and travel the world and focus on modeling since I can only give my all in one thing at a time.

What is your parent’s viewpoint on you choosing modeling as a career?
Uhm well at first my family was very against me modeling since education is way more important, but in the past two years they have come to accept it and know that I can always go back to college, but cannot always be a world traveler.

When and what was your first modeling assignment?
My first job as a model was actually for Paul Mitchell in Los Angeles. It’s a hair care brand in America.

What all assignments have u been a part of?
I could not sit here and try to think of every job I’ve done and say it here, let’s just say that I do a lot of print, editorials, commercials, and my fair share of fashion shows.

How important do you think is education for a model?
I think education is important for everyone as well as models and I think that you should finish high school first and foremost and move on to college because I think we would all be better off a little more educated in this industry. Rather then starting at 17 we could start at 21. It all depends on your circumstances.

What’s your opinion of the Modeling Industry? Are substance abuse/suicides etc as predominant as depicted by the media?
I think it’s a very tough industry and with any entertainment industry modeling included, it is much more exposed to substance abuse then all other careers. It’s very easy to lose track especially when girls are starting at 15 and have no common sense. Also, it’s very easy to slip into suicidal thoughts when your whole life is based on your appearance and not being good enough, and drugs always being around. Mostly everyone is immature when they enter this industry and can really be summoned to a bad path. But everyone goes through it I believe you will never last long in this industry unless you are a very strong tough skinned individual.

How has the industry evolved in all these years?
The industry evolved by becoming more about effortless beauty then made up beauty (i.e.. lots of makeup and pin up girls). Now we’ve modernized all that to make it more realistic.

Tell us about your fitness regime..
Normally when I’m not working excessively, I only do about 40 min cardio, do about 50 squats, 50 lunges, some butt crunches, and a bunch of diff abs workouts. I really don’t slave in the gym!!! I’m not looking to appear like a body builder, it is so not beautiful!

Turning point of life?
A lot has gone on in my life but I would say that the POSITIVE turning point would actually be in March 2010.

Beauty regime?
I don’t have one. Though, I wash my face morning and night and put on face cream after each wash and I put some eye cream on and that’s it. As for makeup I’m a simple woman, if I’m going to casting or even out at night I put on some bronzer and mascara. I’m not the girly type! And lipsticks a big no-no in my book!

What did you aspire to become as kid?
I wanted to be a veterinarian and I still think that I should go for it (haha). I’ve spent my whole life obsessed with animals! Just keep the cats far far away!

I don’t consider it! I don’t think I could be an actress though my friends beg to differ and say I’m quite dramatic but I’m just being a joker in front of them!

What is your idea of an ideal date?
I don’t know. I don’t like dates and all that lovey dovey stuff. I would rather be home, order food, lie in bed and watch movies with my boyfriend – that suits me just fine!

When not modeling what are you most likely to be found doing?
(hahaha) Lazing around, spending money, reading to stay educated, or spending time with people I love, and I have to admit I do love to have fun and go out you can always find me somewhere laughing and having a great time!

Any Social cause that you feel strongly for and want to be (or you are) associated with?
Personally I would really like to be associated in groups for battered women, abused children, and orphans. The cause is very dear to my heart and I ultimately would like to help young people overcome battles that come their way that can really steer them in the wrong path!

Five essentials to be followed by an upcoming model?
Personality comes first, humor, education, mental strength, and natural beauty

Difference between Indian Models and Western Models. Who is a more viable choice internationally and why?
I can’t say that it’s either an Indian model or western model that’s more viable internationally. It’s honestly all about looks and who has the strongest look. If you have a strong look that’s versatile and you can be both soft and edgy or editorial and commercial then you’ve got it and you are set to go internationally.

What is has been the most touching moment of your life?
Did you guys purposely save all the hard questions for last??? (giggles) I think this ones a bit too personal and emotional for me to answer!!
