Modeling happened by chance for this half-German and half-Indian beauty. Spotted by chance and good luck of the industry, Jennifer Sodhi has been in the glamour world for the past eight years. Here we try to find out more about this enigmatic woman.

Tell us something about your early life?
I grew up in Berlin, Germany, as a single child and very protected.

Tells us briefly about your family and schooling?
My father is Punjabi and my mother German, but they didn’t raise me to be religious.

School education was always very important. I went to a humanistic school where I’ve learned Latin and ancient Greek.

What is your parent’s viewpoint on you choosing modeling as a career?
They don’t like it. The guidelines of my education are very traditional: use your brain, not your physique.

When and what was your first modeling assignment?
I was twenty and had just finished school and was working in a call center, where I bumped into a photographer’s assistant. I got a job offer for a political campaign, that’s how everything started.

What all assignments have you been a part of?
In eight years of modeling I have done a lot of commercial work, so it is even hard to remember. I have been working in Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin, Milan, Athens, Paris and New York. I have worked for Mango jeans, Converse, Diesel, Desigual, Levis, Maybelline and L’Oreal, just to name a few. Since I came to Mumbai I have been shooting for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Femina, GQ and done a few campaigns.

How important do you think is education for a model?
I think education is indispensible for anyone.

What’s your opinion of the Modeling Industry? Are substance abuse/suicides etc as predominant as depicted by the media?
I think that the correlation between the model industry and drug abuse is illusionary and made up artificially. Drug abuse can be found everywhere and nowhere. In my personal experience no case of suicide has ever happened, so I can’t say anything according to that.

How has the industry evolved in all these years?
I think it has changed a lot to what it used to be. Back in the days modeling was very powerful and glamorous. Now it is something more common and the competition is so high that most of the models have to struggle hard in order to remain.

Tell us about your fitness regime…
I love to do Yoga in the mornings and if I don’t find enough time to do it I feel unbalanced.

Turning point of life?
Turning point in life was when I finished my studies in psychology and started to travel through modeling. Somehow I stepped out of my books and organized lifestyle to challenge myself and accumulate real life experiences.

Beauty regime?
To get enough rest and healthy food is essential. Also it is important to be surrounded by people with a caring attitude.

What did you aspire to become as kid?
I was one of those kids who had no vision whatsoever in what to become. But since the age of twelve my first ambition was to become a musician, a famous one.
