As the menswear winter mania came to an end some jaw-dropping trends stood out the most on the runway. From earthy hues and extravagant fabrics like suede to a perfect combination of geometry and plaid; the 2015 winter definitely has some uber-cool styles cozied up for the coming season.
COLORS: The A/W menswear mania witnessed a vivid array of rich pastels and some of the shades really stood out in all fashion weeks. This season some typical sober shades but also some bright colors to warm you up this season. Tangerine, navy blue, canary yellow & grey were the hottest trending colors on the runway. From Burberry’s extensive use of aquamarine to the dusty brown hues of Coach, designers like Dsquared2 and Dior Homme portrayed the usage of deep burgundy in lot of their chic and tailored garments. American giants like Thom Browne and Calvin Klein adhered to the classics and a lot of black and white was incorporated into the form-fitting garments.
EFFORTLESSLY BOHEMIAN: This time designers went for a more Boho-look and silhouettes becameslouchy and relaxed. As models walked with ease and composure, Brit maestros like E.Tautz and Alex Mattson made comfortable tailored garments that were loosely fitted to the slender male bodies.
KNITTED TURTLENECKS: Bringing back the 20’s look a lot of designers perfectly amalgamated the knitted techniques into turtleneck cardigans and duffle coats. From Bottega Veneta to Christophe Lemaire, designers like Olivier Spencer played with bright pastels and knitted them into comfortable and loose-fitted duffle cardigans.
CLASSICALLY BOMBER: The classic outerwear jacket crafted from nappa, calfskin and exotic crocodile became an instant style statement on runways of designers ranging from Fendi, Givenchy, Diesel Black Gold and Mathew Miller.
DERBY SHOES: The American-English men’s shoe from the 1800’s could be seen on the runway and many designers showcased footwear that was tanned in shades of chocolate brown and black. The dominant designers that vowed the audience with exquisite finesse and craftsmanship were Paul Smith, Duchamp, Thomas Pink and Burberry.
SPORTY JUMPSUITS: Following the androgyny regime, a very sporty and casual approach was followed by designers on the runway as they showcased jumpsuits crafted from hosiery as well as Egyptian cotton. These included famous names like Topman, Kenzo and Miharayasuhiro.
SUEDE IS THE NEW THING: Following the trend from last trend, suede has literally become the ‘new leather’. And this grainy skin could be seen extravagantly lined with shearling with likes of famous designers such as Missoni, Thom Browne and Hunter Gather.
GLITZY PATCHWORK: As pieces of garments were sewn together to make individual patterned ensembles, one could not get their eyes off the intricacy and utmost craftsmanship that designers like Kit Neale and Walter Van Bierendock showcased in a rich array of vivid pastel colors.
SHEARLING SHOWERS: Fashion Week Menswear A/W’2015-2016 witnessed a generosity of luxe winter fashion with designers showcasing an abundance of shearling on the runway to keep you cozy this season. The trend was evident in London’s Burberry, Moschino, Tom Rebl, Milan’s Emporio Armani, Roberto Cavalli to Paris’s Lanvin.
MILITARY INSPIRATIONS: This season saw many designers join the army. Whether it stuck to traditional color schemes or the silhouette, fashion week witnessed a splash of designers who showcased military-inspired designs of the 1930s’. In London we had designers like Maharishi, KTZ to Milan’s Ermenegildo Zegna, to Paris’s Wooyoungmi who embraced the military trend.
PATTERNS: This season not only saw some designers go geometric but also play with plaid. Les Hommes, D.GNAK, Christopher Kane brought about a sense of uniformity while Canali, Vivienne Westwood, Moncler Gamme Bleu plaid it well with their prints.
SPORTY SHOES: With sporty-chic taking runways by a storm, Autumn/Winter’2015-2016 witnessed men in sporty sneakers on the ramp. D. GNAK, Christopher Shannon and Agi & Sam made a sporty statement on the runway.
