Hosted by Edward Gibbs, Chairman, Sotheby’s India & Middle East and Amit Burman, Honorary Chairman, Sotheby’s International Realty, North India, the evening was attended by Tyeb Mehta’s wife Sakina, William Dalrymple, Shivinder Singh, Rohit Aggarwal, Priya and Sethu Paul, Soni Aggarwal, Divya Burman, Nisha Jamwal amongst others.

To be held in London from 2 – 8 October 2014, the exclusive highlight at this special occasion will be Blue Painting, 1982 by Tyeb Mehta.

430An initiative of Sahachari foundation, the ‘Design One Exhibition’ is a flagship event wherein upcoming designers and entrepreneurs from different parts of the country come together to exhibit their latest creations. Scheduled on the 3rd and 4th of September, the exhibition this year was held at the National Sports Club of India, Mumbai.

Participating designers included Surily Goyal, Atsu Sekhose, Anushka Khanna, Maya Parikh, Nipa Badiani, Priya Parikh, Nandita Jhaveri, Suhani Pittie and Rima Jain amongst many others. Contemporary jewellery, luxurious hand bags, exotic footwear, belts, scarves and diamond studded hand-crafted jewellery were amongst the favourites for the visitors.

Guest list included all the high elites of the city like Manisha Koirala, Shveta Salve, Mana Shetty, Sandeep Khosla,  Roshni Chopra, Shraddha Nigam and Mayank Anand and Vidya Malvade to name a very few.

Meanwhile, the Sahachari Foundation events have been known to encourage talents and raise funds to support NGOs in the areas of education, healthcare and social-economic betterment. With events like the Design One Exhibition, the foundation enables the fashion industry to enter this realm and promote the rare ideology of ‘fashion for a cause’.

430The 2014 edition of the Culture Chanel Exhibition is titled ‘The Sense of Places’ which offers a complete insight into Gabrielle Chanel’s world through her most influencing travels. Held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, the exhibition has been effectively curated by Jean-Louis Froment.

It has been divided into ten sequences, each of which enables the onlooker to visualise the milestones of Gabrielle’s life. Featuring all the crucial memories of her life, from her visit to Venice to the purchase of Rue Cambon 31 building in Paris, the display is a full-fledged journey to Gabrielle’s mind.

A one of kind showcase of the unbelievable phenomenon of Chanel’s culture which expands beyond the realms of fashion, The Sense of Places enables the onlookers to have an easy imagination of Gabrielle’s feelings and experiences through more than 500 pictures, books, objects, archives, jewellery, watches and perfumes.

Some of the curious attendees list to Anna Mougalis, the Chanel Ambassador who wore an exotic off white Chanel dress embroidered with pink and bright golden rhinestones. Caroline de Maigret presented herself in a luxurious black tunic from the cruise 2015 collection. Kiko Mizuhara stepped in a vibrant blue, white and red dress studded with star sequins, from Chanel’s Paris-Dallas collection.

Accompanying them were some Korean actors and actresses like Soo-Joo Park, Ah Sung Ko, Jin-yeob Cha, Si-Won Choi and Je-Hoon Lee among many others who came attired in Chanel, showing their love and support to the brand.

The exhibition is opened to the audience from the 30th August until October 5th.

430 0ASOM, the recently opened club in Delhi, started with its innovative concept show ‘Girl in the City’, which includes fun filled fashion parties and shows. After the enthralling first show last week, the second edition of the concept included shows from designers Vikrant Makkar and Swati Modo.

Speaking of their collections, Vikrant’s creations were filled with ethnicity and vibrancy. Embellished with applique handworks, zari and kundan, the collection was a flashback to the culturally rich Indian attires. The colour scheme for the collection was likewise extremely bright and showy, including fiery red, golden and sky blue to name a few.

Swati Modo, on the other hand, presented her uniquely titled footwear collection ‘No Strings Detached’. Bold high heels in variegated colours and sparkling embellishments summed up the collection.

Compiling the fashion fraternity and party circuit under the same roof, ‘Girl in the City’ is surely a carnival of fashion for party hoppers and aspiring fashionistas in the capital.

Conceptualised and hosted by Devyani Khosla, the evening saw former Femina Miss India’s attired in Mandira Wirk couture along with exquisite Kirtilal bridal and innovative jewellery in a fashion that showcased the various stages and ceremonies that the Indian bride goes through.
