430Budding textile designer Tanira Sethi launched her eponymous label, “Taani” by Tanira Sethi at Patine, Emporio in the capital amongst family and who’s who of Delhi’s social circle.

On the day 4 of Milan men’s fashion amid heavy rain saw straight trousers, boxy jackets and slightly oversized knitwear of the70s along came studded boots by N°21, while Cedric Charlier showcased his collection with sporty sneakers, his first for men’s.

The Fendi collection was mixed and matched fur accents on over coats, like leopard sleeves and striped collars, with brands ironic messages, from “Love” on the front of head bands to “Bliss” on zipper pulls to “Hope” on the side of a bag and “Trust Fendi” on the front of a sweater along furry blue slippers which read FEN on the right foot and DI on the left.

The silhouettes were simple and sporty, filled with everyday attire mixed more formal pieces in colours of pink alongside coral, sky blue and yellow.

N°21 had Nordic-style sweaters with Pea coats closed with ribbons. Jackets mixed military camouflage patterns in civilian stripes and checks.

The Etro man represented a transition into the spiritual world with rich velvety fabrics, deep meditative shades of purple, red and turquoise, and easy silhouettes from kimono coats to parachute pants to Highlander kilts in bears, wolves and buck’s motif.
Technical hiking boots with colorful accents and hiking backpacks with small chanting bells completed the looks.

David Yurman - Where Design Meets ArtDavid Yurman, America’s premier luxury jewelry brand, hosted its first-ever men’s collection exhibition rendered in collaboration with sculptor, painter and performance artist Anthony James, whose unique sculptures will be displayed in tandem with David Yurman men’s jewelry at the historic Chiesa San Paolo Converso church in Milan, Italy.

The exhibition celebrates the brand’s voyage from art to jewelry, and expresses the significance of sculpture as it relates to the brand’s origins. Created by David Yurman, a sculptor and his wife Sybil, a painter, in 1980 in downtown New York, the brand is rooted in unconventional artistry that stems from the founders’ aesthetic approach and inspiration.

Evan Yurman, the brand’s Chief Design Director, creates the vision behind the men’s jewelry collection, which is rooted in the use of unconventional materials, innovative technology and quality craftsmanship. David Yurman collections, such as Forged Carbon and Meteorite, have set an unprecedented standard of creative engineering in the category.

With grandees like Bottega Veneta and Gucci sitting out giving way to plethora of new comers along with elegance of Salvatore Ferragamo, Parada, Missoni, DSquraed2.

Armed with cable-knit mittens and oversized, ultra-sleek leather backpacks, Guillaume Meilland made his debut as the new menswear designer of Salvatore Ferragamo with a fall 2017 collection, by mixing expert tailoring and a muted palette with monogrammed sweaters and a cast of mop-headed, quirkily lensed boys

Prada’s Fall 2017 menswear and womenswear show had floral embroidery on angora sweaters, fur collars, coats, and slippers. There was a sharp retro, ’70s-inspired edge throughout, in suede suiting with its wide lapels and muted burgundies, teals, and camels, in v-neck sweaters layered over dress shirts.

The shapes are fluid, in completely redesigned silhouette and shearling jackets, all black. There were also leather jackets, the tailored suits and sweatshirts, along with furs.

Emporio Armani designed the collection for all tastes and that meets every need. There are elegant clothes, with shaped jackets and fluid palazzo pants, and some to practice high-altitude sports.

Summing up with Donatella Versace’s Fall 2017 collection was an acknowledgement of uncertain times ahead after a year that included not just Brexit but also the election of Donald J. Trump. So, in the near future, the wardrobe for the Versace man will consist of tough shearling coats, rugged plaid shirts, apocalyptic nylon trenches and hiking sneakers to survive the elements. For some encouragement, the designer embroidered positive words of hope and hidden messages of affirmation on and inside various garments.

The day saw biggest brand parade of Made in Italy and beyond. From Armani to Versace, Christian Pellizzari to Marni, Antonio Marras, and more eccentric style weblog Moschino.

Designer Monisha Jaising will unveil her stellar couture collection at the opening show of Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017 on January 20th, 2017 atop the international luxury cruise liner- Costa neo Classica.

1

The grand Arabian Sea will be the stunning backdrop for the designer’s opening show at LFW. For the first time ever a veteran designer will be showcasing her collection aboard the Costa neo Classica- a cruise ship docked at a pier by the Arabian Sea. Monisha Jaising promises to enthrall you with a luxurious experience.

Monisha Jaising’s upcoming collection brings in a dreamy elegance to one’s spring summer style with billowing silhouettes, glorious array of patterns, fully embellished party dresses and cocktail sarees. The creations are executed in black, gold, grey, white, rose pink, rose tan and occasionally injected with a pop of red, orange, fuchsia – underscoring the ultra-glam attitude infusing the collection. The collection is infused with opulent fabrics – heavy bonded satin, wool crepe, Italian organza, chikankari, metal encrusted chain mail and much more.

The collection unashamedly veers towards extravagant evening wear, contemporary and stately silhouettes, an effortless approach of “cocktail sarees” & billowing skirts with tight bodices’. That sentiment – the lighthearted dance floor celebration of glitz and glamour –is the lingering takeaway from this spring – summer collection.

Taani by Tanira Sethi’s eponymous label is a range of pure woven, limited edition hand painted and the first ever fine cashmere lace saree.

A NIFT graduate in textile design, Delhi, she honed her skills by doing her masters at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, and won the Textiles Environment Design Award 2015 (for social equity) for her innovative project titled, “Refashioning the Unstitched Garment”. During her stay in the UK, she has studied various certificate courses in the field of fashion from Central Saint Martins.

However, her innate interest lay in the study and research of minimalism despite being in the Indian market which is soaked in its antonym, maximalist. And this was the genesis of the cashmere saris, something that she explored as a concept even as a student and later technically developed to give it a distinct identity and Indian sub-text.

The collection uses 100 per cent woven cashmere wool, developed in various weaving centres all over the country, it took a year to plan, and finally produce, considering the delicateness of the yarn.

“I always wondered, if a seven-meter shawl can be woven, why not a sari? I combined four things I loved-art, design, fashion and heritage, for my first ever collection,” says the budding designer Tanira.

2

Interestingly, the line is segmented into three individual design ideologies—the first one offers pure woven cashmere saris, the second is a range of ultra-luxe hand painted saris in cashmere, which is where you find a rather captivating mix of traditional heritage seamlessly combined with modern art.

Last but not the least is the world’s First ever Cashmere Lace saree incorporating fine cashmere Leaver’s lace fabric conceptualized by Ezma Fine Cashmere and woven by Beauvillian Davoine France.

The palette ranges from soothing indigo blues, pleasing charcoals, muddy browns, ecru, with accents of reds and maroons used as effective highlighters.
